My parents played this at their wedding 44 years ago and it was played at both of their funerals it makes me cry every time I hear this beautiful piece of music 😢
We had this at our wedding 14 years ago today.
My Grandfather was president of the American Guild of Organist decades ago. He played this and everything else. I get the tingles when I hear any organ. He introduced me to organ music from around the world. He wanted me to play as well, but I was an idiot and didn't learn. I ended up in engineering but regret not learning and disappointing him. I love all music because of him. Hearing this is bitter sweet as I remember him. I did sing in many choirs and loved this one the most.. Praise be to God.
You're never too old to learn!
Musicians and engineers need one another to survive.
@@Michael_VGThe best time to start was yesterday. The next best time is now. -Unknown.
Had this played at our wedding 53yrs ago and again at our golden wedding ceremony.
Malcolm Andrews at ours also 29 years ago
congrats my friend. how did you accomplish this? people would rather quit nowadays
@@yamahonkawazuki I have a friend who is an organist
@@malcolmandrews2880 very cool
What a way to call God's blessing upon your marriage! Soli Deo Gloria!
This was played at my wedding, right before I came down the aisle. It still gives me chills (and likely raises my blood pressure) to listen to it! Absolutely beautiful song and beautifully played.
Same here! I love it so much...
Same!
my folks played this on violin and cello in church in the fifties, a beautiful forever place in my heart, inspired through God by Bach
Played at our Wedding in 1976 for my entrance..
Still tantalize me
Perfect tempo, perfect register selection, perfectly played! Overall just perfect. Thank you so much!
Magnificent. Magnificent.
When I am listening to this profound performance,
I seem to be wandering in Jesus' soul to spread infinity
I don't know how many times I've heard this but I always love it. Such beauty.
This piece gives me so much peace it reminds me of when I was a small child this was my favorite song
One of my favorite hymns on my favorite instrument ever. There is no instrument more majestic than an organ.
Brilliant, took me back to my teens when I used to listen to jsb on a Sunday early evening, after being at church in the morning as a choir and alter boy.
I think JSB would be floating on air on hearing this. Thank you, Jonathan!
Floating on the G string
I remember playing this one time, and being so familiar with it that I looked away from the score, and when I looked again was at the wrong place, and took a moment to regain control of the piece. Taught me to keep the score, even of the familiar in front of me. Thanks for your lovely presentation.
I love this on organ, wonderful
So beautiful Bach and Jonathan!
An incredible performance by that organist. Compliments..
So beautiful and holy .
I could loop this over and over and never get tired of hearing it. Thank you for posting. Love it!!!
“ Rejoice in God always !” , NT 😇😇😇🙏🎹🎶
This music is so harmonious. Love it so much !
Music is love and love is Music
Once again, Jonathan, you have chosen a familiar piece of the Joy of Man's Desiring to bring back back to life.
And Jonathan, you did and awesome job as always!
BBN: Bible Broadcasting Network brought me here With this pipe Organ rendition of Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring. Simply Heavenly 💞
One of the best versions ever listened. Proud being of German descent. 🇩🇪
do you also speak german?
@@gimmeklik1632 No sadly. But it’ll be nice to learn that along with Bavarian and Russian.
@@BmorePatriot ok
Sure is😊
@gimmeklik1632 I speak a little bit but my little kid Carson plays the organ and he speaks German.
You are great Jonathan Scott. You recordings never cease to amaze and captivate me. God bless you.
I want to play this organ!
No one can be left desiring anything after listening to you playing this piece. I love the way you do all your own arrangements of every piece and hug them like a warm blanket 😊
Thank you again for a wonderful performance. One can just not get enough of this beautiful music composed by Bach and performed by you. Music like this is really food for the soul in a very difficult time with Covid and all the problems and pain that came with this pandemic.
From South Africa
What Glorious music.
I was introduced to this piece by the Amiga 500 back in the 90’s and it took me many years to find which piece of classical music it was. I have been in love with it ever since. Lovely rendition.
What heavenly music, so enjoyable Jonathan
We used to sing this in our church choir when teenagers
Phenomenal ability to be able to work 3 keyboards and use all 4 limbs to play this! Ausgezeichnet!
Just wonderful! Tom's drawing at the end of this video is amazing! Thank you both for everything!
I played the tenor line of this on the euphonium in concert band in high school. Those phrases are _looooong,_ man. I could really have done with an electric blower or some bellows-operating monks to keep the air pressure up toward the end there. :)
I played this At a wedding on euphonium when I was in college AND photographing the wedding too! It would have sounded better on trumpet in my opinion but I couldn't dependably hit every high note with the trumpet and make it sound good, so I played it on my euphonium which of course, to me, at the time was a baritone horn I learn that the euphonium and baritone are slightly different from each other!
My grandfather like me played the organ and this was one of his favourites and mine. This organ and the fabulous acoustic of this church with Jonathan's playing render this beyond sublime.
Nothing beats Organ version of this😢
Brian Laywood
I didn't have to wait long, an old organ favourite, lovely. I will be playing that in my local Church tomorrow but not up to that standard! Lovely modern organ, great reverb.
Prachtig gespeeld! Wordt mijn begrafenis uitvaartdienst
Beautiful music. Bach at his best
How can there be 14 people giving this a thumbs down ???? This music is sublime!
That's quite surprising to know! What! thumbs down?? For such an angelic performance? No way!
If you think of it, all things are in opposition. We know why. And we know who. Now forget about the ugly trolls and strike up the amazing music.
My dog loves this. We have an organist that plays from a tower in our town. People slip a fiver to get their favourite songs on the playlist. Some popular tunes are from Harry Potter or Christmas tunes in December. People set out picnic blankets in the cooler months (we are in Florida) and enjoy lunch and music. When this piece comes on, my dog stops playing with the other dogs and comes to sit quietly next to me. When it's over he looks at me and smiles and asks for pets. Then he leaves again to play with his other dog friends. No one believes me when I say that my dog has a favourite song until they see this for themselves.
@@RasheedahNizam can i ask what town? that sounds dope
@johnjohnjohnjohnjohn5769 This is Lake Wales 😀 it's an hour west of where I live but close enough to drive to all the time on weekends. Bok Tower and Gardens. Worth a visit if you are in Central/South Florida.
Absolutely sublime! Thank you! ❤️❤️🙏🏻👍🏻🇨🇦
You played the chorale tune with your thumb! That’s so cool!! My organ only has two manuals and I’m trying to figure out the best registrations given what I have. Your performance, as always is gorgeous!
Scott is always magnificent
Bach would sign his music SDG = Soli Deo Gloria - Glory to God alone. Indeed.
Germany and superiority in making machines….this is a Mercedes pipe organ❤👌👌
I love all the organ works by Jonathan!
Great Composer Bach!
Good work perfect rendition of one of the best songs of the best composers
This is not a "song"! No voice singing. It's a piece of music.
@@jeanghika7653 Actually, he wrote it as a "song", it is supposed to be sung. But you are correct, this rendition would not be called a "song".
Es parte de una Cantata. La 147. Aunque en este caso está interpretada al órgano, también suele ser cantada por un coro.
Beautiful beyond words. 💜
There are many beautiful nostalgic songs I remember growing up from pop to rock to classical but none will top this one.
I've always loved this, right from early childhood. Thanks, Jonathon & Tom.
Bach was a Lutheran up until his time in Italy where he converted to Catholicism.
beautiful ! so full & so lively. love it!
Excellent thumb technique on the second manual and good selection of the stops!
Que perfeição 😢😢❤❤❤❤❤
Perfect version of this classic song.
Love this Bach song. Great !!!!!!
I sincerely hope that sometime between now and 11/23/2024 that you will do an arrangement for piano and organ of Jesu. That will be my 50th wedding anniversary and I cannot think of a better gift!
It's possible to give more than one like?
God I love this. Very interesting to see (somewhat) how you moved through that passage at the 1:57 mark
It's absolutely sublime! I love Bach ❤️
Best Version of jesus joy of man's desiring organ. It's way better than the 🎹 Version
Super beautiful video!! 👏👏👏
Bravo from Wilmington, Delaware, USA 👏👏👏👍👍👍
Beautiful.
if you pay attention. what Majestic sounds you will hear.
✨💖 AMEN 💖✨💖✨💖✨💖✨💖✨💖✨ BENDICIONES ✨
imagine this secular piece by a devout Lutheran composer played in this luscious and lavishly Catholic space. Amazing!
que bonito suena esta, esta el la cantata típica de Bach 147 - bonita interpretación y buen sonido de órgano mas maravilloso órgano tubular......
Magnifique merci
Sounds amazing
Lovely arrangement, thank you.
Ganz hervorragend !!
This is one man's opinion, but too many people play this as a near dirge, when the title says clearly it should involve a sense of joy. I'm not talking about playing it at breakneck speed, but rather more with a lilting approach. I hear this as crying out to be played a touch more brightly. As I said, one man's opinion and in no way intended to downplay Jonathan Scott's ability.
Was the Vox Humana stop utilized to imitate the parts the choir would sing? Bach certainly wrote this piece well, the grandfather of classical music and the benchmark.
Would you happen one day to add your score arrangement of this piece to your list of organ solos ? That was beutufully played
✨💖 Amen ✨ padre❤️✨
Awesome, guys!! 👏👏👏👏👏
😂😂😂 the reed sound I love it
Beautiful play, the use of 3 keyboards is amazing! I only wish the video editor did not keep panning out to random shots every 15 seconds, and focussed like everyone else on the purity of the music and the technical challenges playing it.
Sublime y precioso .Sois grandes.
Lovely. Thank you.
I'm Going to like this song.
i'm funny that way. nice Organ SOund.
Beautiful!
Amazing 😇😇😇🤘🎶🎹🙏
Beautiful
0:53 is it St Thomas Aquinas receiving the chastity belt ? so glorious our God Jesus Christ, and blessed are those who love him
It's St. Dominic receiving the rosary
Saint Dominic and Saint Thomas Aquinas, Pray for us!
Jonathan is that the singing imitative Vox Humana reeds?
Jonathan, what inspired Bach to write Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring?
Bravo!!!
love this
Please do you have SHEET music for this version for organ? Please please🤗
I’m crying
Fenomenal!, você é católico?
