Good find and restoration since shockwave was my favorite g1 toy when I was a kid. Loved hearing those sound effects! Memories of driving my parents nuts are coming back!
Oh man! I miss those sounds 🤤 when I was eight a younger cousin got Shockwave for Christmas, all of my cousins were playing around, it’s Christmas morning and he wouldn’t even let us touch it, so finally he set it on a coffee table and me and his brother started playing with it and broke his shooting arm off 😨...we set it on gun mode, left it like he set it and moved away from the table, my younger cousin when to pick it up and accidentally banged it on the side of the table and the arm fell off, he started crying, my uncle came over and saw it and just went “told you to be careful with your toys!” 😂 Great video Larkin 👍🏽✌🏽
Very nicely done, and a clever fix for the hose too! I've always thought it was a fun sort of challenge, when refurbishing some of the old figures & toys I have found bargains on, or that have otherwise come into my possession, to come up with inexpensive yet very effective ways of repairing/replacing parts, using everyday type items like the hose on Shockwave here. Same with customizing too, for that matter. Excellent work, and very impressive getting the electronics working again too, btw!
Thank you! It was really luck as I just stubbled across it at the pet store and told my self "I wonder if this would work?" Fixing the toys back to their former glory from cleanup or as much as soldering electronics is really something special.
@@LarkinsLair I still need to find another broken, or at least certain swappable parts of, G1 Jetfire, so I can get back to refurbishing the one I have. I'm kind of waiting on that before I do the plastic whitening, so I can do it all at one time. I have managed to pick up the thrusters and his rifle over the last couple of years, so all I need for him to be fully complete, are the red plastic arm & leg pieces. I have the TOYHAX Reprolabels ready to apply once everything is fully cleaned and whitened, so I'm getting there, little by little... Unfortunately, the canopy on mine is badly, badly cracked and broken, and is one of the pieces I need to replace, and there's SOME damage to the torso and 1 arm & 1 leg, but can't remember which, lol. One of my friends thought he had a second Jetfire figure, which was missing all the weapons & gear, that had enough solid parts to refurbish both his and my Jetfire figures, and was going to give him to me so I could fix BOTH back to where they needed to be, BUT couldn't find it and thinks his brother might have taken it for his nephew, so that didn't work out. Even with it as rough as it is now, it looks GREAT compared to the way I received it in a junk box of TF's, lol. It was bad... Fortunately, not beyond some cleaning and light repairs, which was great, because it allowed me the privilege of adding him to my collection. I also have a G1 Sixshot, given to me recently that needs cleaning, but I still have yet to sit down and make a list of the parts he's missing, which is EVERYTHING, I just don't yet know what all that entails. 😅 He has an extra Shockwave that I think I might get from him, which will probably require a little work, so I'm looking forward to that after watching your video repairing your find. I'll let you know how that goes.
Excellent job on the restoration, Joel. I’d love to see how you replace the tubing in another video if you decide to replace it with a longer length of it. Cheers M
Missed notification for this but am watching now even though it's 3 am. I'm that kind of fan/friend. Lol. Holy crap you got it to work! I saw the hose replacement on IG. You're a genius! Shockwave looks so good. I want one now. 😭😭😭
I just read online that Walmart has the following G1s coming in 2022. Galvatron, Redeco Megatron and Prime, Shockwave, Cliffjumper, and Thundercracker. Getting them all!
It's not too difficult once you practice it a bit. Hopefully the soundboard is still good. I was fortunate as it was only the cable to the power that was bad.
Really nice videos my first time watching your channel awesome job you did on shockwave. I have a question I have a shockwave knock-off version is a gobot version
Mine says toyo 1983....? Im selling mine on mercari in a lot i will sell seperate for 69.00 plus ishipping missing pieces ts broken just the arm can be glued hose is corroded but works!

Great video Larkin 👍🏽✌🏽
I got the same feeling when I first heard the sounds and lights working. I also broke my Shockwave a few months after I got him.
I found this restoration, "most logical." :D Outstanding job Larkin, Double Thumbs Up. ;D
Thank you!
@@LarkinsLair Welcome. :D
Man, you just keep taking to the next level ...how are any of us to keep up hahaha. Great ..no FANTASTIC and SUPURB work my friend!!

Thanks! I think I will do that. I ordered the right gauge wires to extend it. Hopefully it will arrive soon.

Now that was neat restoration, especially for the hose.
Thanks! It was such lucky fix for me to find.
So awesomely fresh. You got a nice haul right there, my man.
Thank you!
Awesome
Thanks for sharing
Amazing find. And under 30 Dollars wow.
Yep, but the memories are priceless.
Nice! I really need to learn how to solder. The problem with my Shockwave is that his light doesn't work.
It's not too difficult once you practice it a bit. Hopefully the soundboard is still good. I was fortunate as it was only the cable to the power that was bad.
@@LarkinsLair Yeah, the sounds work just fine. It's just the light.
I'm considering buying one of those "learn to solder" kits off Amazon.
IT'S ALIVE!
Bro I’m happy for you! That’s awesome 👏🏼 and for only $10 bucks!
Thanks! It was an awesome deal. Less than $30 to restore this awesome figure.
Great restoration look new again
Thanks!
The lavender transformer, I like it.
Hahah yeah, learning big words as a kid through Transformers.
I need to see the inside of the thorp and magnoid switch . I have a grey shockwave. Not lavender😂
Amazing work dude
Thanks!

Were can I find your video were your actually fixing.
nice job mate !
Thanks!
How does the firing mechanism work? I've been tinkering with mine and finally got him to work but he stays on till I pull the trigger.
Woahh that’s really cool!
Thank you!
Larkin's Lair you’re welcome!
Nice, but this is the reissue.. silver screws not black... ???
My shockwave crackles from the speaker can’t figure out why no sound . Any suggestions would be great thank you .
Could be the sound board or speaker. I’d first check if the wire contacts are secure 👍
Can you do a video on restoring the shockwave go bot version
Sorry I don't have that version.
Cool
Thanks!
