There was Ezra Bridgers blaster-saber that while a single saber gave the wielder a far superior range over the staff saber. And also more tricky to the opponent because in a saber lock just need to twist the handle a little bit and theres a blaster aimed at the face.
Vader will most likely call it as a sign of weakness because at that point you are no longer relying on your mastery of the saber/saber combat and only the blaster. In short if vader came across a jedi let alone a force sensitive who had such saber vader would ultimately win and you also have to take into account of when ezra had the weapon he was still a padawan and not a jedi knight/master yet and if i remember correctly the lightsaber got destroyed i just dont remember how.
@@GriffenSpadeIsBack But thats the thing Vader had Decades of time to perfect his form where as someone like Ezra was flying by the seat of his pants, and in that situation you used anything and everything to, if not win, at least survive. And it got destroyed at the temple on Malechor where Ezra first met Maul. I think Vader was the one who destroyed it.
I find this mindset interesting for Vader because, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how well the other dualists were if they are dead. If a cheap trick here or an unfair advantage there causes your opponent to fall, did it matter how much better at one fighting style they were?
I find Vader's view to be rigid to a certain degree. It's not as deep as Dooku's, but there's still short sight. Whatever the weapon and how it's used all depends on the individual and thier preference. There is no singular way to winning in a battle since there's always changes that occur during conflict. Adapting is a key component along with absorbing what is useful and discarding what is useless
@GriffenSpadeIsBack Weapons and tricks are each separate strengths that can be used in conjunction with each other by the user. NOT USING ALL THAT IS IN YOUR INVENTORY IS WEAKNESS
He actually agreed with Dooku? Wooooow. I mean Exar Kun, Kas’im, Maul, pretty much every Jedi of the Shan bloodline, and Kao Cen Darach would probably disagree (and rightfully so), but it’s a small victory that Vader and Dooku were on the same page about something.
Imo Anakin’s main problem was that he was too narrow minded in on how his instructors tried to teach him. Instead of learning more knowledge on the force he would focus on lightsaber combat. His lack of force is why he and Obi Wan stalemated in their force push despite Anakin’s raw strength in the force. My point is Anakin was an expert duelist due to him being arrogant and closed minded is what eventually led to his downfall and never reaching his full potential (As well as Dooku) Honestly who can blame them 🤷♂️
Exar kun: killed the chancellor and his master in the same day and WALKED out of there. Vader: Stops the evil chancellor from getting killed, then cries about. Goes up against his Master and loose the majority of his limbs and his wife. Vader just being salty.
You have to be really good to be effective with a twinblade. Which is why vader is right when he says they're unnecessarily complex. Twinblades are cool, but really impractical
Vader only believed they were unnecessarily complex because he lacked both the strength and dexterity that was needed to properly wield them. In fact, i believe that good argument can be made that the more advanced wielders of double bladed lightsabers were more talented than anyone who only used 1 since it is more difficult to master. It is especially noteworthy that Exar NEVER lost a duel with this weapon while Vader lost multiple duels using 1 blade.
@decepticonxhunter4850 I agree. They aren't impractical because they require more strength or dexterity, though vader probably did lack the dexterity. They're impractical because they limit range of motion and are poorly weighted. Exar's lightsabre was particularly bad in this regard because the handle was so small so it would've been horribly weighted. Not saying he was bad, just made a bad choice of weapon. If anything, I think that makes Exar Kun even more impressive because not only did he win every fight, but he did it while using a really poorly designed weapon. Ultimately though, it's star wars. It's all good fun and rule of cool will always win and, silly as they may be, twinblades are very cool
“It is obvious that this contest cannot be decided by our knowledge of the force, but by our skills with a light saber” count Dooku attack of the clones
Considering Sidious feelings that the light saber was a quaint and outdated weapon of the Jedi, this focus on the blade shows that even in the depths of the Dark Side, Vader continued to rebel against his master.
Vader is so savage His philosophy on saber combat is awesome I love that he still values discipline and hates shortcuts and flash His use of the duel phase is awsome Who do you guys think wins between exar and vader Idk i think its close Imo Probably exar because of vaders weakness to lightning
Honestly i think would be an even duel until Vader gets the upper hand in saber fights because it's stated that at that point he was the best duelist at that point but Exar's techniques would prove too much for Vader
I believe each has its merits. The single blade style gives you a tighter defense and a free hand to control the force. You can also hold it with two hands for power strikes. Switching between one and two handed grips on the single saber is pretty good. Dual wielding styles seems to rely more on slashing and less on extraneous force abilities. The double bladed saber seems to be a more offensive oriented combination that gives a bit of both. You get more blade real estate while potentially allowing a free hand for the force attacks. But the double saber in Exar Kun's hands could be a double or single blade. Kun had a more versatile style and blade than we see from most double blade saber wielders. Honestly, I think Kun mops the floor with Vader unless plot armor changes something.
Bro is just mad because he can't use Djem So Ataru anymore like he used to and he doesn't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
Even so he has more skill over you despite the situation and he learned to adapt with his new body and has incorporated 2 additional saber styles into his form for how vader fights.
@abstraction6212 Exar: "I heard you were talking trash about me. This is coming from a walking torso. Let's test that theory of yours, Vader." Lightsaber ignites Vader: "😳O snap."
@@AbramHarper Vader is much more powerful than Kun lmao, u old republic fans love to overpower those characters despite lucas stating vader and palpatine to be the most powerful sith
What you never hear about Jar'kai and dual wielding is a jedi wielding an off-hand saber for reasons akin to a parrying dagger, to allow for better counterattacks. Better yet, imagine parrying with a cortosis-coated parrying dagger.
Double-bladed lightsabers required high mobility. Vader relied on strength. That being said, double bladed lightsabers could also be used double handed by extinguishing one side of the weapon. That means it could be wielded like a Nodachi which allowed for more variation in Forms.
This is a perfect illustration of why Anakin fell. He was always narrow-minded and arrogant. He knew better than you. Even his approach to Jedi training was heavily "Yeah, yeah... Just show me the technique so I can make it better." People like to lay Vader's existence on Obi-Wan because he upheld the oath he swore to Qui-Gon. Yoda was right to blame himself. When he saw that he could not prevent Anakin being trained, he let a BRAND NEW Master train him. Yoda should have assigned him a more experienced mentor, and had Obi-Wan assist. But that would fly in the face of the ridiculous Jedi notion that attachments are bad, so we'll just let this poor guy who just lost his own Master torture himself for decades over a failing that wasn't even his! I swear... these friggin' Jedi.
The most enjoyable thing about Vader is how much of his relatable masculine pettiness still shows through. I said the same thing about lifting heavy… after my injuries prevented lifting heavy 😂
It’s like guitar playing. Effects are cool and can add flavor but also cover mistakes. Sounding wicked while playing clean is the ultimate show of skill. Even if you don’t always want or use that sound.
Oh my god, imagine this war of words if Kun and Vader ever met and then fought. Exar would prove so much wrong with this and then kick his ass from my p.o.v.
He was never meant to be Vader's superior, and his potential was underestimated. I guess he was taught with two lightsabers because it was more practical and it made fights easier for Starkiller.
Whom ALSO REPEATEDLY kicked Vader's ass in EU... Yeah, Exar would mop the floor with Vader's cyborg ass an Vader on back his mind has to KNOW that... Being just mad cuz he no longer can move like Starkiller an others can. Exar ISN'T known to have EVER lost a dual. .only 1 person just matched him to a draw. Anakin MIGHT'VE been able to handle himself but there's way more to a fight then what Vader favors. An guys like Exar, Maul an Revan, etc know that. Think Vader probably forgot that for awhile
I understand what Vader is speaking about here but my opinion on this is the; “Win by any means necessary with any weapon, tactic or trick at your disposal” So that’s where I’m at with this here 🔥 #StarWarsExpandedUniverseFan
@ Agree with you on so many levels brother ✅ No matter how Much Vader tried to disassociate himself with the Jedi he was always one deep down because he still would rather fight fair with Combat skills & force powers then fight dirty like Qimir in battle for example 🤷🏾♂️.
Sooo from my understanding, Vader was just mad he couldn't move around and do those ninja spin slashes like Maul with his low-grade mechanical arms and legs so he would talk shit about the saber type.
I find it amusing that each Sith will just tear into each other, about how 'inferior' their predecessors were. Darth Vader focuses on a single bladed lightsaber, instead of using a double-bladed saber or even dual wielding.. Largely because of the shortcomings Anakin experienced with while encountering Count Dooku for the first time. Despite wielding two lightsabers against Darth Tyrannus, Dooku was able to slip through and bypass Anakin's excessive defenses, and through sheer skill and precision of Form 2 Makashi, was easily able to dismantle one of them. Dooku then claimed Anakin's right arm as well, not through trickery, but an act of blade mastery. It really comes to show how Darth Vader refined himself and his combat approach after each major defeat he endured.
He despised droids and cybernetics, he even said to Anakin in the Novel, and I quote: "Such a shame you replaced your hand for a cybernetic one, a true master would learn to duel with only one hand if it needed"
A single blade is a balanced approach to combat, but to say a dual bladed saber is weaker, isn’t necessary true. With a single blade, you can thrust at your opponent in a rapier like style. But the single blade means that you can only spin the saber so fast. A dual bladed saber can spin twice as fast easily, and where you do need to use wide sweeping strokes, the dual bladed saber can deal with hordes of enemies without much difficulty. It’s ultimately up to the user to determine which stance is better for them. If they prefer the traditional approach, if they have a weakness that requires compensation, or if they simply want to be different, these all need to be considered to determine which stance is best for them.
Single blade is not balance type especially considering it still outbeats duelsabers. Have yet to see any sith or jedi use single blades sabers as rapiers so its clear to me you didnt do research before commenting let along watch the films(fk disney ones) let alone play any starwars game. Not a single time did they use single bladed saber as a rapier. Only sith/jedi who did was and i quote Dooku and only Dooku for the fact of how he has made his hilt for his saber which is curved.
Incorrect Griffen! I’ve watched all of the movies, most of the shows (clone wars included) and have played several Star Wars games! Dooku used his saber like a rapier, and so did Cal Kestis, an order 66 survivor. And in the Jedi Survivor (the very same game where Cal used his saber like a rapier) the single blades stance is referred to as a perfectly balanced stance, suitable for all situations. Calling me out on a few small mistakes is one thing, but I never comment about anything unless I’ve done a lot of research on the subject. I assure you, I’m not some idiot…
Jar Kai is not a form 6 variant. It is not the same thing that Djem So is to Shien in form 5, or Vaapad is to Juyo in form 7. Jar Kai simply benefits from the versatility mindset that form 6 emphasizes.
A consistent pattern of flaws I’m noticing in the war torned force users no matter Jedi or Sith… Is the fact that the ones who become doubting of others ability whether they be conquerors or heroes, it always bites them in the ass when a Star Wars warrior Doesn’t believe they can be caught off guard. Characters like Yoda who represent the apex of the light doubted anakins potential by being too rigged in his training, that undid all the lights ideals. While the characters like Tulak hord who was a being of darkness yet noble and honorable unlike his fellow Sith, still couldn’t acquire his conceptual goal of a Sith race empire lasting without him, even though tulak hord and was a successful warrior/conqueror his goal ultimately failed since it the force didn’t let his people stay united and strong. Further more characters like qui gon and traya were right and only failed due to a lack of power rather than actions like other characters of Jedi/Sith origin.
An example of why Vader wasn't able to overthrow Sidious. Sidious was the master of deception, and manipulation. He had almost all the Jedi wiped out without needing a lightsaber. Vader was a warrior at heart, not the type to do what was necessary to destroy Sidious.
She was on the backfoot and losing. She only got a cheap shot due to Vader being distracted after he pushed her off the temple and nearly decapitated her had it not been for her daddy Dave's time travel crap. Go back and watch the fight again she was mostly defending against his strikes (barely at that). She got checked immediately when she tried to take the offensive. Even starkiller with weakness Vader engineered into him hoped for a stalemate and he still performed better than Ahsoka Tano trained specialized in fighting larger opponents by Anakin and she barely held her own.
Moving one blade toy ward your opponent means your moving one blade toward yourself. Having the added risk of concerning oneself with what to do and what not to do puts the combatant at risk. One glancing blow or misstep and you’re just as likely to remove your own head as having someone else remove it for you.😂
a second blade always has an advantage. how many Jedi died during Order 66 because of overwhelming blaster fire? many. many. imagine if they had a second blade (both double-bladed or duel saber) to catch the remaining stray shots? there are merits to utilizing one blade masterfully but having a second blade reserved could save you from a situation where multiple threats strike at different places all at once.
While I agree that being able to face any situation with only one blade does prove one is superior in lightsaber combat. That being said, I prefer the double-bladed version, the kind that can also be split in two. That way you are trained in multiple forms, single, dual and double. And yes, that brings up the issue: jack of all trades, master of none. But I think the unpredictability helps in that situation.
In the first Darth Bane novel it is specifically told by his mentor Khasim (blademaster), that the double blade is inferior compared to a single blade, because you can only attack with one blade at a time in 1vs1.
I think we're going to the Sith academy. I couldn't agree more.
"Honor is for the living. Dead is dead"-Darth Bane
Using tricks that ARE NOT SKILL OF SAID WEAPON IS WEAKNESS.
My point is Anakin was an expert duelist due to him being arrogant and closed minded is what eventually led to his downfall and never reaching his full potential (As well as Dooku)
Honestly who can blame them 🤷♂️
I'd have to say that Jar'Kai is my favorite style because I am semi-ambidextrous.
Exar kun: killed the chancellor and his master in the same day and WALKED out of there.
Vader: Stops the evil chancellor from getting killed, then cries about. Goes up against his Master and loose the majority of his limbs and his wife.
Vader just being salty.
Lol
Exar Kun: "Hold my resolve"
I would like to know vaders thoughts on the cross guard saber
“It is obvious that this contest cannot be decided by our knowledge of the force, but by our skills with a light saber” count Dooku attack of the clones
Considering Sidious feelings that the light saber was a quaint and outdated weapon of the Jedi, this focus on the blade shows that even in the depths of the Dark Side, Vader continued to rebel against his master.
what lightsaber type would you use Wave?
Vader is so savage
His philosophy on saber combat is awesome
I love that he still values discipline and hates shortcuts and flash
His use of the duel phase is awsome
Who do you guys think wins between exar and vader
Idk i think its close
Imo Probably exar because of vaders weakness to lightning
Can you make a video on exar kun when thousands of jedis tried to use sever force on him and the ritual he was trying to do
What book is he reading from in the beginning?
Maul: Oh my gosh, Vader, I'm huge fan of your work 😃
Vader: You're a P S Y
Makes me think about how Darth Bane looked at sabers
Dooku would be proud of Vader picking up his ideology
I'd like to see Vader 1v1 Exar Kun and then say that when he's Torso Boy again
Except that Dooku was defeated by Anakin before turning Sith, so could not be tutored by him. Wow, how could you miss that detail
Totally missing the point bud
Would also like to point out the the inquisitors used double bladed + spinning lightsabers who just so happened to be under the command of Darth Vader
Vader hated the Inqusitors, so giving them double bladed lightsabers was probably his way of mocking them.
🙄Neither Count Dooku nor Lord Vader ever faced off against Exar Kun in battle. 😏 Because he would have washed and folded both of them.
I would agree with Vader’s theory.
Would you be willing to do a video on your thoughts of Vader with a Sith war blade?
Vader roasted Sidious, Maul, Savage, and all of those who use double bladed or where user of Jarkai
**Exar Kun knocks**
Wats gud
@abstraction6212 Exar: "I heard you were talking trash about me. This is coming from a walking torso. Let's test that theory of yours, Vader." Lightsaber ignites
Vader: "😳O snap."

The only way to prove this is to have Vader and Exar face off in a duel
I swear... these friggin' Jedi.
this the response i was waiting on
The most enjoyable thing about Vader is how much of his relatable masculine pettiness still shows through.
They might not be better but there fun!!!!
Oh my god, imagine this war of words if Kun and Vader ever met and then fought. Exar would prove so much wrong with this and then kick his ass from my p.o.v.
Then what about Starkiller??
You taking about the original or the clone? Those are two different characters.
Oh the irony! 😂
I am just going to say two names, Ahsoka Tano and Star Killer.
I understand what Vader is speaking about here but my opinion on this is the;
“Win by any means necessary with any weapon, tactic or trick at your disposal”
So that’s where I’m at with this here 🔥
#StarWarsExpandedUniverseFan
I think Vader is missing a point: yes, tricks and advantages can take you so far but combine with technique then you have something special
@
Agree with you on so many levels brother ✅
No matter how Much Vader tried to disassociate himself with the Jedi he was always one deep down because he still would rather fight fair with Combat skills & force powers then fight dirty like Qimir in battle for example 🤷🏾♂️.
Sooo from my understanding, Vader was just mad he couldn't move around and do those ninja spin slashes like Maul with his low-grade mechanical arms and legs so he would talk shit about the saber type.
With two light sabers one could block your opponent’s blade and still attack with the other saber.
Good soldiers watch early, like, subscribe and share
What do you think his thoughts would be on the cross guard saber?
Didn't one of these videos suggest that Dooku also thought prosthetic limbs to be weak?
He despised droids and cybernetics, he even said to Anakin in the Novel, and I quote: "Such a shame you replaced your hand for a cybernetic one, a true master would learn to duel with only one hand if it needed"
Vader's simplicity came from Obi-wan.
Idk some saber staff users did well. Like zannahs ability to use the saber staff to defend easier.
Intresting
Vader decided he was cool enough already
One man's sound fighting style is another man's gimmick; think about it.
Dual bladed saber is my favorite stance in Jedi Survivor 😂😂😂
Jar Kai is not a form 6 variant. It is not the same thing that Djem So is to Shien in form 5, or Vaapad is to Juyo in form 7. Jar Kai simply benefits from the versatility mindset that form 6 emphasizes.
A consistent pattern of flaws I’m noticing in the war torned force users no matter Jedi or Sith…
Is the fact that the ones who become doubting of others ability whether they be conquerors or heroes, it always bites them in the ass when a Star Wars warrior Doesn’t believe they can be caught off guard.
So he's a bum?
@@Angelo-nd4lg No..... A warrior. Darth Vader is more like a dark Samurai, Sidious is more like a highly intelligent, psychopathic politician.
Did Vader ever have thoughts about ancient Sith swords? The actual darkside imbued blades of the Sith...
And yet, if I remember correctly, he only fought Ashoka to a draw…
One glancing blow or misstep and you’re just as likely to remove your own head as having someone else remove it for you.😂
Weak Force Sensitives: Eww! Saberstaffs are cringe!
Me: *uses a saberstaff because I enjoy it, it is fun*
Can you explain if Luke Skywalker had any views on different lightsaber builds like double blade, curved and pikes?
Exar Kun says hello 😅.
The problem with it is that no one could wield a saber like exar's. It was a single handed grip for a reason.
a second blade always has an advantage. how many Jedi died during Order 66 because of overwhelming blaster fire? many. many. imagine if they had a second blade (both double-bladed or duel saber) to catch the remaining stray shots? there are merits to utilizing one blade masterfully but having a second blade reserved could save you from a situation where multiple threats strike at different places all at once.
Where does the exerpt come from?
At the start
While I agree that being able to face any situation with only one blade does prove one is superior in lightsaber combat. That being said, I prefer the double-bladed version, the kind that can also be split in two. That way you are trained in multiple forms, single, dual and double. And yes, that brings up the issue: jack of all trades, master of none. But I think the unpredictability helps in that situation.
Exar Kun begs to fucking differ.
