      @@SyoDraws I work on my own story (close to finishing first chapter rn) and I just want it to be "good enough" from the very beginning. I don't want to end up in the same situation like so many other indie creators, when after months or even years they decide to redo all their content, because it is too weak and nobody even wants to start reading their stories. I've seen it so many times, people with even dozens of chapters out already but nobody reads them, bc the beginnings are just too weak and too hard to follow. I try my best but there's so many issues that stand in my way, and it seems like I can't achieve good enough results. I've seen so many great works that have no readers, it's discouraging. It also doesn't help that Western stories drawn in manga style already have bad reputation bc many people think this is not "real manga", so not worth even checking.

    • @niicespiice
      @niicespiice 6 месяцев назад +5

      @@cynxmanga there is no objective way to evaluate art, no matter how people act about it. sure, you could have a "weak character arc" or "incorrect lighting," but ultimately those aren't things everyone dislikes. just keep doing the thing you want to do and try to share them with others, but you don't necessarily need to take feedback

      Drawing doesn't always have to be positive. If you want it to be your way of expressing yourself, then negative experiences can be often just as powerful and beautiful as positive ones. The key is to stay authentic and express what's truly inside. You can do this even through fanart, just draw someone going through something rough as a means of expressing yourself. I'm not any good at this but this would be my advice, I hope it helps. I wish you all the best!

Usually these types of videos aren't made for creatives AND by creatives, and combined with the addiction to tech and distraction, it's hard to take even good advice to heart. But your personal input really puts a new perspective into the topic. I never thought about "painful boredom time" in fact "creative time". I think I really needed to hear this. Whenever I’m at work or doing anything that involves attention that I don’t necessarily enjoy, I dream and get inspired about what I want to do once I get home only to feel tired after a long day and just kill time on my phone until I fall asleep. I keep telling myself I need to get out of this cycle because it’s been frustrating how any artistic work I do is solely for my career instead of personal enjoyment. Though, recently, my job hasn’t taken up too much of my time lately. At first I was glad that I finally had more free time to finally draw my own things, but for some reason I end up doing anything but and I don’t have any real excuse. I’m seeing that I’ve become so accustomed to setting it aside that I’ve just been letting my time pass by wanting to draw more but not actually drawing. You advise makes a lot of sense, and I’m going to try that. Thank you very much. 🙏🏼

    I really do appreciate this video! I’ve been in collage for almost a year now studying game art/design and all the technical programs that come with it. Yet I haven’t had any motivation to create art, despite being surrounded by these resources and aspirations.
    This has definitely left me feeling miserable knowing I could do more but couldn’t push myself to actually try. However;it is comforting to know that I’m not alone, that even my fellow artists have gone through the same struggles. It’s inspired me to fight for my passion for art again! And I wish everyone who is on a similar journey in achieving their are goals may succeed and be filled with enthusiasm for art!!

      As someone with ADHD I advise you not to get trapped in the productivity rabbit hole. It's a double edged sword for us. Learn discipline and learn to enjoy what you're doing in the moment without obsessing over results or time management.

    • @sariyaart
      @sariyaart  6 месяцев назад +11

      @@Movel0 I definitely agree with this. It really depends on your goals at the end of the day. I want to be a professional artist, so I need to put in the work, but that only came after I fell in love with drawing and painting. It's true I have to push myself to do it sometimes and it's not always fun, but at the end of the day if I'm not enjoying the majority of my time I wouldn't be doing any of this. If you find something you love it won't feel like just "productivity" anymore, that's why I try to do it as much as I can, because it's my passion and I'm completely obsessed.

    Plus, even if I did do all the work, it still may or may not look right. I am or have so many ideas...I just either lack confidence, get easily distracted or come to a grim conclusion that most people find what they think is appealing to be considered "good-art" than having fun with art.

    this is exactly what im trying to do right now! i realised im addicted to escapism through any means (youtube, shows, music, books, anything) and it hurts not just my artistic progress and my work but generally my everyday life.
    and i want to be better, i want to do better, i want to live a life and not just be a spectator, i want to create things, i don't want to live in addiction for the rest of my life!!!
    and its very hard because its everywhere and i need the technology for work and drawing and im trying so hard but im very bad at keeping habits and i fall back into escaping sometimes :'))
    youtube is the last social media i use though (deleted tiktok got rid of youtube shorts with extensions) and i try to watch only long form content that's beneficial/inspiring for me, because i don't think ill ever be able to quit youtube, or music for that matter which is also a form of escapism for me escaping from thinking
    journaling and gratefulness journaling also really helped me to get in touch with my thoughts and feelings and focus more on the positive things in life!
    to change you have to be able to believe that you can, YOU are in control of what you do, you CAN change, because its up to you, for you by you!
    (change is the greatest (and worst) trait of humans)

    Great video man! Relates a lot to it. It find it funny that it’s “similar” to my video about learning to enjoy sketchbooks again :) I’m glad I found your video

    Thank you for this video, it was very helpful. I use technology too much and I am stimulated all the time. I need to be bored more so I can do the things that I want.

    I watch videos as way to keep my overthinking brain from distractions itself with random noise in the house while I draw. I have trouble concentrating, and music doesn't cut it anymore. I'm still unable to get assessment if I have adhd, autism, or both so i have to be productive somehow. It's been a problem, but at least they help me somewhat.
