  • @psuedonym8344
    @psuedonym8344 6 лет назад +3

    Yo! This waa great thank you! My only question would be if you really need to take the turbo assembly off with the manifold, or is possible to slide out the cylinder head by removing just the bolts on the exhaust manifold.
    The lines for the turbo seem to be connected to the lower block of cylinder and was hoping to just keep that intact if possible. :))))

    • @tylerstewart7034
      @tylerstewart7034  6 лет назад

      Glad you found it helpful man. I suppose you could do it that way, but then you'd have to pull all the exhaust studs...plus there's not much room to maneuver in there to being with. It might come out okay, but could end up being more work in the long run. Just my opinion. Give it a try.

    • @psuedonym8344
      @psuedonym8344 6 лет назад

      Hello Tyler!
      I wanted to give you update in appreciation for your video.
      I wasnt able to take head without removing turbo assembly cause that manifold was locked by some brackets attached to head with 4 bolts.
      I came to find my timing belt broke causing the exhaust cam to misalign. Rocker arms came loose and springs on valves seem compressed. Im scared too look at the timing chain...
      i was hoping you can slip me some tips 😌😁. I really cant figure why the rocker arms laying on the spring doesn't contact the exhaust camshaft to point where one was just off to the side when taking of valve cover. The inake rocker arms make sturdy contact with no room for wiggle room and looks appriopriately timmed.
      all exhaust valves are stuck open that i cant figure why but my pistons seemed to have recieved a sweet 💋 kiss. So little so it looks like the mark may buff out. Strangely its on intake side, and not ehaust where valves r stuck. Im not sure if this is cause for absoulute new pistons cause im not looking foward to such a job. The circumference looks intact but i also dont know what to make of pistons as they look aftermarket with Sharpe "V+"U" angle to them.
      Thank you again sir for the help youve given!

      @@psuedonym8344 Hey. Right on, you got it all apart... I hear you tho, inspecting the damage is a bit scary because all the extra work it could entail. Sounds like you'll be rebuilding the head at the minimum. My pistons were kissed as well. If I was a gambling man, I'd say they're probably fine, but then again, you dont want to have to do all that work again down the road if you're wrong. It is possible that the connecting rods may be cracked/bent. I would recommend inspecting them before putting things back together. That's kind of where I left off with mine before I got distracted with other projects. Wish I could be of more help man. Let me know how you make out with it!

      Update: yo! Im about to finish up this week! Its been a long time coming cause i keep getting blindsided with "im already here i might as well" and have been waiting for shipping parts constantly.
      I have one last question dough!
      Is my first engine so i may sound silly.
      When i timed the engine (camshafts/chain/bolts/sprocketwas broke) i believe 2 exhaust valves in clydiner 2 and 2 intake valves in cylinder 3 are starting to open(the cylinder head is not installed in engine with the 10 bolts). Is this normal for timing or should all valves be closed. I cant find it anywhere and im not sure if im thinking to much in it since cylinder was not on block and i just happen to see the valves
      Im hoping to pick up another vw audi for hobby like you thanks for the inspiration.

    • @vindieu
      @vindieu 3 года назад

      there is a timing belt from crank to exhaust cam. then there is a timing chain at the other end of the engine, that links the exhaust cam to the intake cam. that chain has a VVT cylinder (held by a stupid polydrive bolt), and a tensioner.
