Ok ya'll know I'm queen of LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES! lol. I definitely missed a WHOLE key product in their line which was the butter base scalp protector. You can definitely just use vaseline or grease for scalp protection as well but I clearly missed that and thought the honey shield was an all around hair and scalp protector. WRONG!!! That is for the PREVIOUSLY RELAXED HAIR ONLY! I know I can laugh at my pain but scalp burns suckkkkk. Please if you choose to self relax at home take your time and do your research about each product. I don't think I gave a in depth review in this video but overall, I will not be using the butter blend relaxer for fine and color treated hair anymore. It's not meant to process your hair completely straight instead it relaxes mildly and leaves behind texture. I will try the normal/medium strength relaxer next time and bust out my good ole VASELINE for my scalp and hairline. As far as the whole line I actually loveddddd mizani products! My fav was the recover mask! 😍 After relaxing, the products made my hair super soft, shiny and healthy! I will definitely continue using Mizani for my relaxer days! After not having a relaxer for yearssss I'm still learning what works for me so I hope ya'll are enjoying the journey! Let's learn together! 💁🏾♀️✨ **stay tuned for my relaxed hair updateeee** #RelaxedHairSeries #TierraJ #MizaniButterBlend
It looked beautiful to me. ❤️‼️I remember this woman on RUclips said she used more gentle relaxers when she stretched short, and the regular strength when she stretched longer. She alternated that way. Sounds interesting, yes.
I have been natural for 9.5 years and I have been keeping up with your new relaxed journey and I went back to creamy crack last week! I am so happy that I can wrap and go. You showed me that relaxed hair can be healthy and I thank you so much. Life is much easier, esp with 2 toddlers! I always look forward to your updates!

Your hair looks great. I used Mizani butter blend for a while, but after 2 years I noticed my hair was getting thin and damaged. I switched to Affirm Fiber guard and I love it! It doesn’t make your hair bone straight but I like a little texture.
I am so glad you’re doing a relaxed hair Series. All You see on RUclips these days is natural hair and thats great but everybody is not trying to be natural. So thank you
When I was getting my hair relaxed at the salon, she did the conditioner then the neutralizing shampoo. I think the logic was while the hair cuticle was open from the relaxer, the conditioner would penetrated the hair better. Then neutralize shampoo and cool rinse to close cuticle and set hair ph back to normal.
When I was relaxed my stylist used to use the Mizani line. Tierra your hair looks great 😊 also btw for all my low porosity girls don’t use a cool shot of water when rising out your conditioner it will make your hair dry girl. 😉
I’m a straight natural who silk presses twice a month and I strictly use the mizani thermasmooth line . I love it, my journey started with u when u were a straight natural but I see it changed over the last year or so lol . I still love you I’m an Aries and you are def like my sister and best friend in my head 💜
Love your relaxer videos. I texlaxed my hair a month ago because of you and I love it so much. I still have my curls but the texture has loosened up a little bit so it’s not as dense. I was really frustrated with the process of wash day, because I realized over the years since I’ve been natural that my hair grows out different textures all over my head and so wearing it out in its natural state, it would be really long in the front and shrunk up in the back and wash day was so time consuming because different sections required different maintenance. But I was able to even it all out by leaving the relaxer(which I mixed with conditioner) on the more coarse sections of my hair for longer. So now everything’s the same and now I can just wash all my hair at once without sectioning it, which is my favorite part. Also when I’m done, it doesn’t shrink up, I can actually just wash and go now. Which is perfect for me, because I enjoy my length without all the extra work. Anyways, thank you for all your advice girl. Cause maintenance is so important too!
Tried butter blend mild relaxer earlier this week, just off of a whim, for first time. So far I love it. My hair is not as thick and I am color treated so this strength was perfect. My hair was soooooo soft and moist after relaxer, and strong. I'm 40+ years old and for first time I'm able to get my hair at bra strap length, aiming for waist length. I'm always looking for products that help me maintain my length.
I have used this line while working in a corporate salon. This butter blend line is great for using when you want to keep the body in your hair and it’s great to texturize with. One of my goals while I was working in corporate was to be a texture specialist, but now I’ll have to do it on my own. Great video!
Yeah I thought so too. It is very well needed in corporate salon that have mostly vanilla stylists that aren’t well informed on chocolate clients hair and what they need.
@@YourLocalPaintshop you're right! That was one of my selling point some years back when i tried to apply at a few different vanilla salons. They did not want me there nor were they interested in bringing more "textured " clients to their salon🤨
It’s crazy because ever since the re don’t events, they’ve been “appearing” to try to be diverse, but I digress because we would be on this post talking about it for far too long. I try to affirm myself by reminding myself that I can still teach and still specialize in textured services no matter where I go. I have my instructors license now, it’s just covid has a bunch of things at a standstill for me right now. What about you?
I love seeing someone that finally put the relaxer on correctly the best way to do it is going in acting like you’re essentially bleaching your roots. You’re not bleaching your roots but that’s how much you need to be putting on a thick ass layer and you also go into the acting like you just touching of hair that was dyed and now you gotta make sure everything the same color it’s that headspace and you’ll be really good at it. I love that.
Officially rejoined the relaxed gang last week. I have 4 kids and it really is less stressful worrying about my hair when its relaxed for this short period.
In the thumbnail pic on the far right, that pose took me back to the days when you picked a hairstyle out the Dudley's books. Lol who remember those style books?
Oh wow u took me back...I went to jc penny's cuz they had Dudley. After they went up on their price, I started going to the Dudley beauty school to get it done...
I recently went from natural back relaxed and I use optimum box relaxer and it straightens my hair perfectly and has never burned my scalp during the process I love it
Girl I’m so glad you said 8 to 10 weeks because I’ve been doing a texturizer since I was 13 I am now 25. My parents used to make me go every six months and I literally couldn’t manage my hair in between time. I’ve been on my own for about four years now and have been doing my own texturizers every 2 to 3 months. And I’ve been happier ever since lol.
I know you wanted it straighter but I actually think the fact that the relaxer leaves you with a bit more texture than expected gives you a more natural look and avoid the flat look relaxer usually have if too straight. You hair has grown a lot too.
I agree! I was natural for 6 years and now I understand that I dont need my hair to be totally straight so know I always leave some texture when relax my hair. And the hair is fuller and healthier.
I relaxed today as well. I stretched so long. Maybe 6 or 7 months. I had breakage, and I had growth. Overall, I survived. Whew! I used ORS with all the new extra creams that came in the box. I used my own neutralizer and then their neutralizer afterwards. I really like it. My first time using ORS.
That relaxer took my hair out bad and made me go natural again and I never looked back, thank god because now its longer than its ever been in my life but yours came out fabulous.
First: I am realizing why my hair broke off when I had relaxer... my mom always did it (not a stylist) and never protected the relaxed ends or scalp or edges 😂 but I was a kid I didn’t know better. If I went back I would def do allllll of that! Second: I wonder if using the conditioner fist would allow the chemical to continue working a little more after you rinse since it hasn’t been neutralized by the shampoo yet. Like you rinsed because it was burning but if it’s not neuralized by the shampoo it would still be semi-active right? Maybe that’s how the line is supposed to work and that’s why your results are always meh.. idk just a thought

Hi! I love your videos as you’ve undergone and are going through a very relatable hair journey. Whether natural, tex-laxed or fullyrelaxed, **a quick piece of advice due to experience: I personally cut and altered my hair and hair texture due to someone that couldn’t stand to see my natural hair. However, if it is solely YOUR decision to be relaxed, you seem like a very lively and amazing person on the inside, which would match perfectly with your external self. Great vids. Thank you for sharing. Keep up the great work!! Ps. My hair and scalp are seemingly also rather resistant yet sensitive to the chemicals in several relaxers that I’ve tried. I have to wait 3 to 6 weeks in between relaxers to go over the same sections of hair again to receive somewhat satisfactory results. It may be a 4c hair kind of thing. Lol Smh
Thank you for this video! I've come to realize that where I went wrong with my relaxers was unknowing letting my hair stylist relax my whole entire head. That caused my hair to break off and appear not to grow. I've decided to give touching up my own hair at home a try. But I feel you on SIRI. One time I was like "Siri what are you doing?" Because she had stopped playing from my iPod. And she was like I'm trying to play music from your iPod and then realized she wasn't, lol, and started playing my music again.
Hi beautiful your hair has grown. And it looks so healthy no more relaxers for me. I would protect my hair with Vaseline or hair oil by hair food. I also would use olive oil sheen spray if it would start to burn or itch. I just love watching your hair journey.
When you started your natural hair journey, I also decided to big chop and I did most of the things you did to your twa. I did a lot of protective styling to protect my fro because I just didn't have the patience and time to detangle and comb or whatever. So I hardly ever saw my fro. I'm going to relax now.. because I have someone who is going to be an example for me. Healthy relaxed hair.. and it's manageable which means I will get to see my hair
I love the butter blend line....but babygirl...honey shield is for your previous relaxed hair only.....butter base is for the basing of the scalp....love you 😍 💗
Tierra, I know I shouldn’t be laughing at your pain, but, gurl....you had me rolling with your editorial comments when your scalp was reacting to those shots! 😂😂😂😂
Hey T! I enjoyed seeing u relax ur hair. I dont have a perm anymore but if I decide to start back getting them I will know what to do to keep my hair healthy. Thanks girl.😉
I didn't get the conditioner first either until it was explained to me that the scales of the hair is open so it makes sense to fill it in with conditioner first, then lock it in with the neutralizer if that makes sense. Although I love the Mizani aftercare, I use Silk Elements Relaxer (Sally's). It gives she the bone straight I love. I don't need to see no texture and it DON'T BURN! 🔥🔥🔥
With the mizani sensitive scalp it is what you need ,it dont burn ,and you just let it process and watch your curl pattern lossen, then wash it out when its at your desired look,im a stylist like you..You should try it. On your next relaxer.
I want to relax my hair sooooo bad , im so over being natural at this point . its been about 10 yrs for me and when i say over it !!! So i definitely enjoy watching ur journey ! I just wanna go to a professional who knows exactly what they're doing and also one who doesnt try to woo me away from getting it done cuz thats only gonna irritate me . . but btw i hear Terrell in the backgrooouuunnnddd !!! Love watching him , alot of episodes i watch over and over !
Siri said talk to her nice! 😂😂😂 I’m not relaxed or have any plans on relaxing but I started watching your videos just to support (your sister Tianna braids my hair lol.) But I love the commentary so I’m a regular subbie off the content alone lol this fight with Siri SENT ME 😭😭😭
Offering a friendly tip: I think I know what happened as it relates to your remaining textured hair that didn't have time to process. I think it got on your scalp from the start. Try to ONLY apply to hair first, then go back after initial application (while smoothing & applying to edges). I'm speaking from 17 years of experience of doing self-relaxers. That little bit of extra time allows all the texture to relax before the heat kicks in. By that time, you're ready to rinse, neutralize, etc. I was more meticulous with my last few relaxers and my results were SO MUCH BETTER! Everything was relaxed with no burning. Hope this helps :)
When I used to be relaxed, the only thing that worked for me was this product called Sensitive Scalp by the brand Summit to coat my scalp and hairline to prevent burning.
I love how your hair is the same thickness from root to tip! Health over length always. I couldn't believe all of the steps lol your must've spent the entire day in the bathroom 😂!
Natural or relaxer takes time .. I deep condition 3+ hours. Putting that junk in your hair definitely need put moisture back in. Wish I new that when I was relaxing. I did just what was in box. And a moisturizer/ grease..
I love Mizani products. I also like Aphogee especially that leave in. Your hair turned out beautiful. I get a lot of helpful information from you videos
I'm like 4 months post and I have braids now. Guess who isn't looking forward to relaxing all that 😫 but I like the texture you have! Imma try butter blend with conditioner mixed! Also, you have a middle part because your relaxer processes the hair in that direction
Ironically, I relaxed my hair this past Saturday after 4 months (I usually don’t wait so long) and over 2” growth. Well I actually twisted my hair the night before and basted my scalp. The application went so fast, and I used way less relaxer. I also protected my ends as my hair is long, and colour treated (last colour was 13 months ago). It worked well. I actually used Mizani as well; but up here in Canada, it’s like $10 at Sally’s...
I got my Post Relaxer Treatment in the mail yesterday. Can't wait to use it this weekend when I do my hair. I have 3 months of new growth that gotta go lol.
Hey T, you can actually remove more of the relaxer if you rinse then apply a little of the conditioner before you neutralize. You would save on the number of time you have to shampoo. I liked that process in the past but do what works for you.
I’m gonna try that relaxer system! When I texlaxed in January, I used Creme of Nature’s Straight from Eden relaxer system... I’m most definitely gonna give Mizani products a try...
Your hair looks beautiful 🤩! I heard that Miziani was a great brand of relaxer but it was always to expensive to me! $20-30 a pop is to expensive. I’m not relaxed anymore but I did enjoy your video.

Yep.. Didn't find that product till was cracking over 7yrs. . I'm natural/ 5 yrs and finally understanding how to manage it. Never to relaxers again
@@megandaniels3875 exactly everything not 4 everyone! Ima stay natural! No creamy crack 4 me! No matter how careful I am or whether I go to a professional my hair doesn't like relaxers or any chemicals really! I def wouldnt dye my hair and relax, that's way too much!
I am a natural but I truly enjoy your videos. But I am definitely seeing alot of growth with your hair.
I grease my scalp with blue magic the night before and it works like a charm!! And olive oil relaxer gives me the bone straight look if that’s what your looking for.
Watching a relaxer application video is so relaxing, I guess I just love the transformation process lol anyway great video, you always deliver girl💖💖
Omg 😱 I've been waiting for this... You keep it real when it comes to relaxed hair I'm relaxed so I follow alot of what you say😁😁
Yaaaas I been waiting too! lol thanks so much for watching! Hopefully you can learn from my mistakes too haha
I swear I’m about to relax...I’m OVER this natural life.....
come on ovaaaaa!!! lol but frfr do what's best for you! If you do end up relaxing and do it yourself at home make sure to take your time and research!
@@TheTierraJ Absolutely!!!! My friend is a seasoned stylist, so I’ll be going to her. I’m over doing this hair😂😂😂😂😂
Me too!!!!!!!!! It's for the burds especially if you only wear your hair pressed like me.
@@articulate.beauty oh yessss!!! Even better! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 even though I like doing my own hair I be missing my stylist 😩 I FEEL YOU BOO! Lol
@@laurenrichardson446 THE BIRDS LOL I’ve had a bun since last week🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love seeing people relax their hair its like there painting so satisfying 😁😍
What am I doing here!
My daughter n law sent me this link & asked me if I think it'll work for her type hair🤔
Lord...I hooked her up once!
And now🙄
I guess I'm her PERSONAL STYLIST!!!
I stopped doing hair 20 yrs ago🧞♂️
When all my hair! I convinced my wife to let me give her that Toni Braxton cut🥰
She sent me here...and all I got was ENTERTAINMENT 😁😂
from this brave beautiful sister!
So confident and witty...that was relaxing 😉
To my spirit👌
Instead of seeing my black sister's PULLING EACH OTHER'S HAIR OUT on social media, a blessing to see them ENCOURAGING one another with beauty tips🙏✌
God Bless and thanks!
Tierra, your hair is super cute!!! It looks nice and healthy. Thank you for sharing this video. Hope you and your fam are well. God bless you!💞
Hi! I love your videos as you’ve undergone and are going through a very relatable hair journey.
Whether natural, tex-laxed or fullyrelaxed,
**a quick piece of advice due to experience:
I personally cut and altered my hair and hair texture due to someone that couldn’t stand to see my natural hair.
However, if it is solely YOUR decision to
be relaxed, you seem like a very lively and amazing person on the inside, which would match perfectly with your external self.
I love that you are showing that relaxed hair can be healthy too... and you are showing how to achieve it
Hi beautiful your hair has grown. And it looks so healthy no more relaxers for me. I would protect my hair with Vaseline or hair oil by hair food. I also would use olive oil sheen spray if it would start to burn or itch. I just love watching your hair journey.
Tierra is one amazing role model. Blessed your heart.
We love videos like this , she literally took her time an invest in this well put together Quality video 🖤❤️ . Got me wanna film now 🥰 love it girly !
I love the butter blend line....but babygirl...honey shield is for your previous relaxed hair only.....butter base is for the basing of the scalp....love you 😍 💗
Oops..🤭
Tierra, I know I shouldn’t be laughing at your pain, but, gurl....you had me rolling with your editorial comments when your scalp was reacting to those shots! 😂😂😂😂
I had to laugh too cause wowwww this relaxer day had me so messed up 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm natural and have no intention of revisiting the creamy crack but T, I'm loving and enjoying your relaxer series. Keep it coming.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE your relaxer day videos ✨🤌🏼
loving this *Healthy* relaxed hair journey series, T!
That was a really smart idea to twist your hair in sections. Never seen that before. I love it.
😍😍😍😍
"Establish your heart for the coming of the Lord draws near" - James 5:8 God loves you💗
TIERRAAAAA YOU SHOULD NOT BE THIS FUNNY !!! 😭😂 I just cannot
That whole Siri moment took me all the way out😂😂😂 ur face at the end said it all.
So much fun watching! Your hair looks beautiful!
Just found your channel! I love seeing black creators doing their thang, got you a new subscriber 🤎🤎
Even though I'm natural and have loc hair I enjoy watching your growth and progress
I was so tempted to get a relaxer but you changed my mind. Thank you for this, I will be looking into mizani.
With the mizani sensitive scalp it is what you need ,it dont burn ,and you just let it process and watch your curl pattern lossen, then wash it out when its at your desired look,im a stylist like you..You should try it. On your next relaxer.
I have been WAITING for this video! I havent seen it yet but I already liked bc I know its gonna be good. - Love from Norway
Ayeeee thank you for watching! I appreciate it!! Sending love back to Norway! ❤️
Love this. I’m definitely going to try this line of products. I’m done with this natural ish!
Siri said talk to her nice! 😂😂😂
I’m not relaxed or have any plans on relaxing but I started watching your videos just to support (your sister Tianna braids my hair lol.) But I love the commentary so I’m a regular subbie off the content alone lol this fight with Siri SENT ME 😭😭😭
Offering a friendly tip: I think I know what happened as it relates to your remaining textured hair that didn't have time to process.
Yep...my mom still use that
that works really well for protecting the scalp!!
I used to use this product when I was relaxed
Best relaxed hair video I’ve ever seen , thank you sm !!❤️
Beautiful ❣I love how Mizani gives so much volume to the hair !!! I really miss using Mizani💞
hahaha - Siri be like, "You didn't say 'please' the first time ho" lol.
Seeing her wash her hair felt like she was washing mines lol love these videos ❤️❤️
In my head I’m like “don’t do it girl. Don’t. No. Don’t do it girl. Leave the crack alone”.
I love watching these videos 😖
I love how your hair is the same thickness from root to tip! Health over length always. I couldn't believe all of the steps lol your must've spent the entire day in the bathroom 😂!
Natural or relaxer takes time .. I deep condition 3+ hours. Putting that junk in your hair definitely need put moisture back in. Wish I new that when I was relaxing. I did just what was in box. And a moisturizer/ grease..
I can't even. 😭😭😂😂😂😂😂 "hey siri!!!" 😭😭😂😂🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
I'm natural ,I have no intention to relax my hair but here I am watching this video 😂🌈
I am getting a relaxer next year, I am over this mess. Thanks for sharing your hair is on the GROW. You will be APL maybe even MBL next year !!!
Your hair was perfect even at the blow dry stage. Wow.
Looks great! Just watched your texlax video from last year. Your hair has grown so much!! TFS🤩
Thanks for the detailed video! I can appreciate the relax textured hair vs bone straight. I look forward to trying the Butter blend collection 🤩
I got my Post Relaxer Treatment in the mail yesterday. Can't wait to use it this weekend when I do my hair. I have 3 months of new growth that gotta go lol.
I like the more textured look. I can't seem to hold a curl when it is bone straight. I love your video!
Hey Tierria. Hairstylist in South Carolina. My favorite relaxer line is Silk Elements, but I haven't been in Cosmo Pro in years!
You activated my homepod everytime you said „hey siri“ and also she set a timer for 20 minutes lmao 😂
You are the only one I’ve seen that really takes good care of your hair after using relaxers
Have you not seen hairalicious channel
Check out Brianna Lashay, Healthy Hair Junkie, Seun, Cunning Mom, April Sunny, KStikesDesigns
I love your videos I have been natural for like 6 years now and its such a struggle soooo Im strongly considering relaxing it now
I still love the way it came out though your hair looks really healthy ♥️
Your hair looks beautiful 🤩! I heard that Miziani was a great brand of relaxer but it was always to expensive to me! $20-30 a pop is to expensive. I’m not relaxed anymore but I did enjoy your video.
That’s what I buy, and here in Canada at Sally’s it’s like $10!
Omg can you do a video on what you do the week before your relaxer?
Dear Tierra, I have been patiently waiting for your new relaxer update. Your videos are so easy relate with. The kind of content I signed up for! Love all the way from Nigeria⁶
Great job, your hair looks beautiful!
