Those long notes followed by lyrics are all one breath. Just amazing.

Linda Ronstadt is one of the best female singers & can sing any genre from ballads to country to rock & even opera. She has Mexican heritage on her dad's side. Growing up she listened to many types of music, including Mexican music, which was sung by her entire family. She does a great job singing in Spanish. She has had so many hits such as "Different Drum", "Blue Bayou", "You're No Good", "Long Long Time", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me", "Desperado" etc. Linda also collaborated with Dolly Parton & Emmylou Harris on a few "Trio" albums.

Please listen to the entire album which is a brilliant collection called “Canciones De Mi Padre” which translates to songs of my father, or, my father’s songs. The album is a collection of Mexican traditional Mariachi music from Sonora which Linda grew up with. Linda’s voice and performance on each song on the album is mind blowing.

    Great choice!
As you are working through the different genres she's explored I'd suggest to either sample "Poor Wandering One" from the Gilbert & Sullivan operetta "The Pirates of Penzance" where she shows how high she could work in her upper range. Or some of her collaborations with Nelson Riddle and his Orchestra when she did three albums from the Great American Songbook-either "What's New?" or "I'm a Fool Want You" are excellent places to start there.

I saw Linda in 1981 or 82 in "Pirates of Penzance" on Broadway, I'll never forget it.

Now you need to react to her live version of Tumbling Dice, first sung by Rolling Stones. She absolutely kills it! Also react to the Nelson Riddle albums as they are a whole new side of her.

Not only does she hold the note for a long amount of time, but did you notice that after she holds the note long amount of time she continues to go into the remaining phrase without a break so she continues the note to the rest of the sentence without a break that is amazing

Linda is Mexican born in Arizona check out her interview speaking about her Mexican upbringing she was rock ‘n’ roll in the 60s and the 70s. She helped the Eagles get their start then she sang a lot of orchestra music in the 80s. You really should check those videos out incredible then in the end, she went back to her roots and began to sing mariachi music Check out her CD called Canciones de Mi’s Padres

She's got some pipes. Do The only mama that walked the line from her first solo album at The Johnny Cash show, also Shoop song in The Muppets show, or Just one look live.

Linda could have just churned out easy, catchy pop hits forever. Instead she turned herself into a truly great singer covering many genres. That voice of hers....
