Your style reminds me of books i would just stop and stare at as a kid, the one I can think of off the top of my head is cloudy with a chance of meatballs. I just love the whimsical nature of the illustrations
Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for sharing! Reminds a lot of the Franco-Belgian comic illustrator style in the comics I read as a kid: Tintin, Thorgal, Blueberry, and Spirou.
I don't know what it is about your illustration, perhaps because it's so enchanting? Anyway, it has emboldened me to pick up the pen again to start drawing regularly, no matter how small or casual, even if I'm currently feeling the pressure of grad school. I've forgotten that being human means our souls just need to create sometimes. Thanks for uploading this.
It's nice to see the care and attention to detail. As a kid I loved books like "Me and My Flying Machine" by Marissa and Mercer Mayer, the ink and watercolour work in that book stands the test of time as it is beautiful. Just like this wonderful work.
Watching you barely touch the paper with the dip pen made me realize that I've been using mine wrong, I’m pressing too hard. Great video, Nausicaä is one of my favorites.
Man, I was contemplating on getting Kuretake watercolors, since they were the most affordable option in my area. It's nice to see them in action! 😄💕 Your art is just amazing 😭💕
just missing a pop of red.. otherwise.. amazing.. your linework is what makes it so good... spacing between the hatching and knowing where to place them. Good thing that fly escaped too...
I am, The LA Beast. And this is the extreme art challenge *throws up a bunch of paint and art supplies*. seriously though. I have to put my own music to this to watch cause the music just reminds me of LA beast scarfing down random crap lol. IYKYK
@@lieslemmens7762 Yes! I illustrate children’s books for a living and ocassionally work in visual development for animation as well. I am actually working on a graphic novel right now set to publish in 2026.
I love your work and style! Do you notice a difference in look and feel when you use a dip pen versus any other inking tool? Im thinking of getting a fountain pen but not sure what the difference would be versus a regular inking pen
Hi. Most of Fountain pens Inks aren't waterproff, so, if you use watercolor over it it will be a mess. I use a Lamy Safary with DeAtramentis Document ink and it is waterproff. But you have to use the fountain pen a lot or the ink will dry in the pen.
Hello, I'm super glad that your channel was recommended to me. I am an absolute fan. I am currently learning watercolor and have a question : did you humidify the whole board before starting to apply watercolor ?
Hey, lovely video! I apologize if this has been asked a bunch before, but I was wondering, what qualities of line encourage you to use a dip pen rather than another type of pen? Thanks for showing us your process!
@@AgentLym Thank you! I like the variation of line width, and it’s more economical. One bottle of ink lasts as long as several disposable pens, and is generally cheaper. I have been using the same $5 bottle for every video on this channel up until now, and it’s not even empty yet. I also got tired of constantly buying new pens, and didn’t like throwing away that much plastic.
@@Henderversehello. I use dip pen because the ink is stronger when you erase the pencil and have lightfastness, also usually is waterproof. Not all the markers can say that.
I just found you tonight when I watched the castle scene you did, which was awesome. I enjoy illustration art myself, but I am nowhere near this level. But I have to ask, I tend to use .005 fineliners (such as Pigma micron, Uni-Pin, or edding 1880). Can I ask what the main reason you use a dip pen instead of a fineliner, or just a matter of preference?
@@ZannerBatman Thanks! The main reason I use a dip pen is cost. One $5 bottle of ink lasts as long as several fineliners, in fact all of the drawings on my channel up to now was with the same bottle, and it’s not even empty yet. I also like the variable width of the pen nibs, and collecting different holders.
@@Henderverse Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. You are quite right in regards to expense. And really, it's better for the world, less plastic to throw away. I have lots of ink, and some different pens and nibs, but for some reason I just don't feel very confident using them. I will say though, after watching your videos tonight, I intend to try a bit more. I really, really love your style of art. Not sure if you're familiar with Tomislav Tomic, but I'm a huge fan, and your art reminds me a lot of his style (with a little bit of Kerby Rosanes thrown in). I have subscribed to your channel and would love to see more of your creations. I might even watch your videos again later! 😊

I totally agree with this comment! I have never seen such incredible illustrations in my life! I love watching this!
The use of vertical lines behind the man and the car was a good choice. Totally worth the viewing!
I think your channel is going to be huge, there is nothing else like it, I love it! Please keep making great content like this. Thank you.
incredibly inspired by your work as always. It makes me want to do more traditional art! I've always admired hatching and the dots/lines of inking.
this is such a wonderful illustration! I could stare at that jungle for hours, I love your linework
