I just had this arguement with a guy on Facebook where he said this and I checked... collider never said it. IT was a random scooper twitter account that said it and then said collider said it... but i cant find where collider said it.
In fantastic four, Doctor Doom would permanently dream walk into tony stark when his universe gets destroyed. Hence, Doom now looks like stark, but it’s Victor.

MCU F4 Earth Doom - No , i made it better All employees are satisfied and now i will have your face so no one know about this Someone on MCU F4 Earth : Why is Mr Stark into Green these days?
Kevin Fiege referring to Robert Downey Jr. as Victor Von Doom rather than, "Dr. Doom" could be a semantic misdirect, in order to keep fan speculation going, and prevent them from knowing that he's actually a variant of Tony Stark too soon. It's that simple.
Would ruin the character completely. Your “solution” would be the entire problem. The multiversal part isn’t even the worst part. Having a version of Tony stark be doom isn’t THAT terrible. But he NEEDS to act like doom. One of the biggest most important characteristics of doom is that he like magneto had a rough childhood. He worked very insanely hard to get out and to make something of himself. He didn’t have daddy’s money or resources and that is why if it is a version of Tony stark it can not be anything close to Tony’s original origin story. If it is they will have officially ruined the character COMPLETELY. It would be the equivalent of a Captain America who was a bully. The exact opposite of everything the character stands for and is. At most this Doom could have Howard Stark or Tony’s mom as his parent in his universe who dies extremely early on and then he goes by the name Victor Von doom from then on and continues to have to work hard and make a name for himself.
All this announcement did was remind me of the old days of comics and the bat- crazy things Marvel would do with characters. Now it's time to start counting all the crazy theories until this film comes out!!!
Or perhaps... He was always Dr. doom. Doom used infinity stone to change our memory of Tony stark as him from the start of the mcu... a perfect opportunity to recast iron man. I don't know, that's the best my brain can fantasize...
I don't know how I feel about this. I was hoping he would be back as iron man. Why pay him big dollars to play doom? Plus aren't Reed and him supposed to be similar age? RDJ is 30 years older than Pedro Pascal. I can think of 10 people to play doom off the top of my head. I don't get it. I mean I am glad RDJ is back. I am really happy Doom is coming. But this doesn't make sense to me.
@SayAhh that's a long wait for me to have too adjust from RDJ as Iron man and then play Doom. It will be confusing in the mind. I am not even a big fan of variants. Especially variants that look like a other big character like iron man. So we won't have iron man for secret wars?
Whos to say he ISN'T coming back as Tony as well? We literally know absolutely nothing and you people are quite literally jumping the gun, we have 2 whole years, plus if they decide to build him up between F4 and Doomsday/Secret Wars. Dude said it best, they wouldn't be doing this without a actual way forward, especially with the Russos involved?
RDJ is 10 years older. Why lie? There will be a new Doom after the Multiverse Saga. What's the point of bringing in a new actor to play the role for only a year before the likely reboot
I have been suggesting this for a long time. Dr. Doom could simply be what would have happened to Tony if, say, his father decided to work with Hydra instead of the good guys, and so Hydra ended up winning ww2 and conquering the world. Or just more generally another world where Tony's upbringing was darker (and he happened to be named Victor), so that he became evil. But, I imagine, once crossing into the main timeline, and seeing his family, this will give him a touch of the feels, and make him start to slowly turn toward being good.
It’s going to be interesting to see how they do this: either Doom is somehow connected to Tony Stark (the way Kang’s connected to Reed Richards perhaps), whether by multiversal variant or some other relation, or it’s the ultimate acting challenge for RDJ to differentiate himself and solidify a distinct role as a totally different character within a cinematic franchise that he iconically jumpstarted.
Bc everything after Endgame was a miss, No Way Home is just Sony properties nostalgia and Deadpool & Wolverine is 20th Century Fox nostalgia so those don't even count
@@Mary_PuppinsI wouldn’t say everything, we had the great story of gtg3 and Loki season 1 and 2, that’s about it, as well as Deadpool and Wolverine now
@@Mary_Puppins yea that is true but specifically speaking about movies that came out after endgame in this multiverse saga, gtg3 was a great movie to come out and while it didn’t really bring back marvel it did really well and was a great movie
I'm not confused. It's the Multiverse. There is precedent in the Marvel Comics Universe. The Kevin knows the answers and the way forward. It was meticulously planned especially with RDJ on board.
Just like Galactus, this will give audiences a taste of what this villain is about and what they're capable of so that when there is that soft reboot right after Secret Wars, the 616 timeline can get ready to deal with their own version of Galactus and Victor Von Doom.
My theory is that in whichever universe this Doom is from, a young Tony Stark was travelling through Latveria with his parents on a business trip, when the Winter Soldier strikes and kills his parents. He spares Tony, as he was not meant to be there and was not part of the mission. Young Tony flees into the forest and is rescued by a Romani couple, and raised as Victor Von Doom. His story then plays out in a traditional Dr Doom way, with Tony forgetting his previous life, until Doomsday, when an incursion brings him into contact with the 616 Avengers who keep referring to him as Tony Stark. This starts an identity crisis where he discovers his lost past and the life of 616 Tony which eventually leads to him re-joining the Avengers in Secret Wars as Infamous Iron Man.
It's Dark avengers/siege. We've seen the secret invasion, Captain Marvel already introduced the skrulls to the MCU, Osborne is out there. A new Venom movie, Daredevil reintroduced bullseye in season 4, sentry is coming into the fold, and in that story Tony Stark introduces his own degenerative brain disease to put himself into a coma so Osborne can't get the tech. Enter Doom, working with Loki and osborne, bringing in his own iron man suit to fight the dark avengers.
I haven't watched your video yet. But one of the theories i have is that Doom exists in the FF4's time line as DR. Doom, but when they eventually travel to the future Tony is the Son of Doom.
This is a fascinating theory! The idea of Doom resenting Tony's privilege and going to the extent of a body swap to claim it for himself is a compelling plotline. It would be thrilling to see how Tony, even as a mind-wiped commoner, rises again because of his inherent genius. And the possibility of them eventually switching back, and maybe bringing Robert Downey Jr. back as Iron Man. I'm curious to see where this is going.
I love your theory. There is a reason RDJ is back. I feel like he knows what a great script and only took the job because of the script they pitched to him. He did an amazing job as Iron man and he will do an amazing job as Dr. Doom!
I believe that Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark) and Cillian Murphy (Victor Von Doom) will switch roles after a memory swap. This means Cillian Murphy will portray Iron Man, while Robert Downey Jr. will take on the role of Doctor Doom until the Avengers: Doomsday War. After this event, they will switch back, with Robert Downey Jr. returning as Iron Man and Cillian Murphy resuming his role as Doctor Doom in Secret War. This way, we get to see both actors as Iron Man and Doctor Doom.
RDJ coming back as Doom is probably the biggest curve ball Marvel has thrown us in recent memory, I just wonder how they're going to transition from Kang to him in just a few movies before Avengers Doomsday. Definitely excited to see how this develops!
I think he’s a Tony Stark variant. I agree that Marvel meticulously plans for every detail down to this announcement. That being said, RDJ is on stage with the Dr. Doom mask and then puts on a pair of what looks like Tony Stark style sunglasses that look awfully similar to what he wore in the Marvel movies he’s appeared in. Anybody here wanna to go through that footage and post a side by side?
My MCU RDJ Dr. Doom Theory: Through body switching or another plot mechanism, Viktor is inhabiting the body of a Tony Stark variant from another universe. As a last resort after realizing that it’s the only way (Consulting Dr. Strange on all potential future outcomes)….They agree to do what was sworn never to be done(A detail we’ll soon learn of, potentially even with foreshadowing in upcoming releases): The Avengers download Tony’s “saved state” consciousness from F.R.I.D.A.Y. By means of either a spell being cast or in some way more analogue, they manage force Victor back into his own body by integrating Tony’s consciousness into his alter. This climatically peaks with the return of Iron Man joining the team to defeat Doom, perfectly wrapping up the multiverse saga in a velvet bow and inevitably given a soft reboot following down the road. - I also see a potential for them to declare OG Tony the anchor as a partial justification for The Avengers to make the tough choice. - I’m still on the fence as to how much of the source material will be applied regarding Reed Richards.
They would never recast him just because he's a amazing actor. He's 100% going to be some variation of Tony Stark whether alternate universe, clone, whatever. Having said that the What-If storyline requires too much explanation, I really doubt it's that.
I initially heard about this story on Comics Explained’s channel, and it actually got me from skeptical to excited. And since there are rumors about a reboot after secret wars, maybe they figure they can just throw RDJ in the role for now, then recast a long term Dr Doom in the reboot.

Yeah story just blank. But I don't know cause we know that Fantastic 4 was made by 3 times! And they really defeat Victor von doom 2 times one original another was remake. So is marvel gonna say that Victor survived the blast? Or its now like marvel gonna face same as fantastic 4 did. If it is than plot will be same and disappointing. 😅🤡
They could use make up or something for Victor’s iconic, scarring, and maybe put in a joke about his likeness to Tony Stark.
lol reconstructive surgery gone wrong. "Good news, the surgery was successful and we removed your scars, bad news, you look just like Tony Stark"
Worst take ever
I was BLOWN AWAY when I first saw this announcement, and now.........I'm 100% all for it!! IF THEY DO IT RIGHT!!!!!!
I was so confused about this choice for Dr. Doom but after watching this video and your explanation of the comic story line I now see what they are possibly doing. Thank you for this video.
Til he’s 90😭

This was great. Thanks for the video
RDJ is outstanding!! I’m optimistic to see him in MARVEL again. THANK YOU!!❤
I LOVE this story idea. I can't wait to see how the Directors will create it on screen.
Stumbled upon this gem right after my class. Great stuff man. I believe RDJ will do VVD justice. looking forward to this film
If Tony Stark comes back as Victor Von Doom I will never watch another MCU movie again! What a stupid idea since powering down the Hulk, Just Let DOOM BE DOOM!!!!
I agree! That is lazy casting. You take perhaps the most popular Avenger and then make him 1 of the most hated villains in marvel universe is lazy and lame casting and directing and my opinion!
@@lemuelchappell7773 They're still trying to make money off Robert Downey's star status. I would have preferred Henry Calvill as Doom.
Stop lying you will watch every movie to come. lol
I think this is awesome! The MCU has made a legendary career out making and running with the less obvious choices! If Feige and Co have made this decision, i support it and can't wait for it to play out!

After doing some research I kinda understand what they’re looking to do.
Robert Downey Junior pulled a Lord Voldemort 😂❤🗿
Well just remember that Doom never takes off his mask. It's entirely possible that RDJ is never recognized as Tony Stark.
No way they wouldn't have bothered getting rdj back just to hide his face.
I don’t think anyone has any objection about this announcement, but people are still wondering if Kang will be relevant in this saga?
Sadly marvel scraped Kang for maybe next 10 to 15 years. They focusing on X-Men now. Mutants is officially a saga now they have Soo many X-Men movies to get out its gonna be like 20 yrs lol
@@ghostrider2698X-Men will definitiely be the MAIN focus for the first three phases post-Secret Wars. But there will also most certainly be other IP's thrown into the mix. Kevin Feige finally has the rights and/ or access to every Marvel character/ property. He's not going to wait another twenty years to get them all together properly for the first time.
@@ghostrider2698that’s completely not true. Yes they sidestepped Kang for Doom but they are literally following through with the same avengers Secret Wars plan but with doom instead of Kang. They aren’t scrapping anything for the X-men. After Secret Wars the X-men will shine. Also most likely we will still see one more Kang appearance in the role of Kang Prime taking over for the comic book character the “Beyonder”.
Many people are speculating that we will see Kang one last time in beginning of doomsday and I completely agree with the theory. The theory is that an unseen as of now Kang Prime will take the place as the all powerful being in the comics “The Beyonder”. Who Doom will destroy and steal the power of at the start of Doomsday. Setting up God Emperor Doom and Secret Wars. As in the Secret Wars build up comics it was “The Beyonder”/“Beyonders” who Doom stole the power of to become the big threat in Secret Wars.
"You Either Die A Hero Or Live Long Enough To See Yourself Become The Villain." I believe Tony Stark died a hero but lived long enough to become the villain, so happy to see RDJ coming back to the MCU again and can't wait to see the movie as well
Wow...that's the best I've seen yet. Good on you rembering that quote. Makes you wonder if at some point RDJ did in fact have plans to do this but only expedited due to the unfortunate Johnathan Majors issues. Perhaps RDJs plan was to come back as doom but not till after Kang dynasty but had to move forward quicker.
And yes it's from batman but everyone gets their ideas from somewhere
@@dustinhettrich7572 Yeah I know The Dark Knight, Harvey Dent but I believe this quote suits best for RDJ return back to the MCU after he made the comment "Different Mask but Same Task"😄
Doom becomes a retcon and Stark’s dead body gets reanimated by a multiverse doom bot swarm and becomes it’s human avatar. Just like they did with the Galactus cloud
Plenty of time ahead to theorise lollll RDJ as Doom is both insane and brilliant!
He was announced as Victor Von Doom. There is no Ironman correlation.
Cough* (Infamous Iron-man)
You keep telling yourself that.
This is a varient Tony stark that became doctor doom from another universe
They literally said it's not Tony as Doom! it's RDJ as Victor Von Doom! It's not a Tony variant!!
Technically it’s still doom if his mind is transferred to Tony
He is playing Victor Von Doom....... a variant of Victor Von Doom.
Yeah it’s not like they ever lied before.
It’s RDJ playing Doom in a Stark variant’s body. It’s very obviously what they’re doing.
@@cknick Agree.....maybe...regardless it's not the real Dr. Doom and that sucks
I’m here for it!
I think it’s funny that some fans assume Marvel doesn’t know what they’re doing! 😂
they could just cover RDJ face with prosthetic makeup so hes not recognizable even with mask off. Like The Penguin
This is Victor Von Doom. This way RDJ is still honoring the sacrifice that Tony made.
I'm so excited for this movie!!!
It was confirmed he will be from the fantastic four universe per collider, I bet so many people have egg on their face after overthinking it and being upset about it
its funny..... collider never wrote that on the collider website. I also just checked their twitter and they literally never tweeted that. All they said was RDJ is back as Doom. Even their Website article states that he is doom in Doomsday and Secret Wars and never said anything about him showing up in F4.
My only issue is that I wish it was a new actor. I know he is a talented actor, but I would like to see a new face for Doom
I'm all in for RDJ as Doom 💚
Me too

My headcannon is This Doom is from same Earth as MCU F4 and stole that Earth's Iron Man 's face after seeing him as Reed's rival
MCU F4 Earth Iron Man - You took over my Industry?
MCU F4 Earth Doom - No , i made it better All employees are satisfied
and now i will have your face so no one know about this
Someone on MCU F4 Earth : Why is Mr Stark into Green these days?
A variant of Tony with the middle name victor. Instead of coming out of the cave iron man, he comes out as victor/ doom. Solved the problem
That's what I'm thinking as well
All this announcement did was remind me of the old days of comics and the bat- crazy things Marvel would do with characters. Now it's time to start counting all the crazy theories until this film comes out!!!
This is an incredible opportunity in Marvel studios!! Let’s go!
Marvel should've of stuck with Kang and finished his story

The one good thing about Kang, he can always come back…

Recast DENZEL W
Or perhaps... He was always Dr. doom. Doom used infinity stone to change our memory of Tony stark as him from the start of the mcu... a perfect opportunity to recast iron man. I don't know, that's the best my brain can fantasize...
That’s so stupid I don’t even know where to begin 😭
Nah
@loose-hotline5026 right 😅
I don't know how I feel about this.
Wait to see if it was a good call.
Wait wait wait, lol
Pedro Pascal is Reed Richards !?? Hahahaha no offense but they better turn up the volume or add subtitles when he talks .-.
RDJ is going to play Dr Doom with everything he has and it's going to be amazing
No, this casting sucks actually

I'm not confused. It's the Multiverse. There is precedent in the Marvel Comics Universe. The Kevin knows the answers and the way forward. It was meticulously planned especially with RDJ on board.
Just like Galactus, this will give audiences a taste of what this villain is about and what they're capable of so that when there is that soft reboot right after Secret Wars, the 616 timeline can get ready to deal with their own version of Galactus and Victor Von Doom.
Excited to see how they do Galactus and if were still getting a silver surfer show or special
This video makes some good points. They wouldnt take a risk this big with such a iconic actor.
I haven't watched your video yet. But one of the theories i have is that Doom exists in the FF4's time line as DR. Doom, but when they eventually travel to the future Tony is the Son of Doom.
This is epic! Multi-universe for sure… multi-tony sparks. Awesome!!
When Chris showed up I was like no way and then “flame on” 😂
Marvel Studios got us good with this one… I’m so happy!!!
Relegating doom to just a tont variant is simply creativity bankrupt
This seems crazy, but I am definitely intrigued! I think your theory seems plausible for sure!
"I'll come back as Tony Stark if you allow me to be Dr. Doom as well. You did it with Josh Brolin..."
I believe RDJ is just playing Dr. Doom and he happens to look like Iron Man
That would be disappointing and lazy though, no?
This is a fascinating theory! The idea of Doom resenting Tony's privilege and going to the extent of a body swap to claim it for himself is a compelling plotline. It would be thrilling to see how Tony, even as a mind-wiped commoner, rises again because of his inherent genius. And the possibility of them eventually switching back, and maybe bringing Robert Downey Jr. back as Iron Man. I'm curious to see where this is going.
"No RUclipsr will EVER charge you for shipping"... I feel secure here!
Looking forward to seeing how they pull this off. Love the videos!
I love your theory. There is a reason RDJ is back. I feel like he knows what a great script and only took the job because of the script they pitched to him. He did an amazing job as Iron man and he will do an amazing job as Dr. Doom!
Can not believe the FOMO felt from missing the Xmen97 finale however so ready for further tales with my fave characters.
RDJ not being a Tony Stark variant now just makes me more curious on how this plays out. Time will tell!
Saw it Sunday. Laws yes we needed this movie. 😂😂
RDJ coming back as Doom is probably the biggest curve ball Marvel has thrown us in recent memory, I just wonder how they're going to transition from Kang to him in just a few movies before Avengers Doomsday. Definitely excited to see how this develops!
It will be like the “What If” series. Different reality and such. And multiverses. Exciting
I love that take and there is nothing better then when the bad guy turns good!!
This is mind blowing 😮. This is the twist the MCU needs
Tony Stark becoming Victor Von Doom could be an very enticing move!!!!! I'm for it.
Cannot stop watching that clip of the RDJ reveal!
i am definitely looking forward to seeing how Dr Doom is introduced to the MCU and what the back story is.
