Happy Sunday everyone:) Always remember to adjust day and time before you setup your trail camera. As you can see on the sms I got on my phone, my camera had reset the day/time because the batteries had run out. The reason why this is very important is because you sometimes get the sms in the morning when you turn on your phone and then you will have to rely on the time stamp on the photo itself. Take care everyone and see you out there.. All the best Morten
Ah yes, I think we’ve all had at one time or another had to delete our photos of blowing grass 😑. Enjoy the science project! It’s lovely to see new life all around in nature. Thank you! 👊🏼🙌🏼🙏🏼
I think I commented on your first field craft video about trail cameras. I bought a cheap on on Amazon and it’s been the best €50 I’ve ever spent. I’m using it less than 500m from my house so I didn’t really need the videos sent to my phone. However, now that I’ve seen the value in a trail camera, I might invest in a connected one. It’s helped me find foxes, badgers and stoats. I wasted so much time watching tracks and holes in the ground in the vain hope an animal would appear. The trail camera has taken the sheer guesswork out of it. If anyone is reading this and considering a trail camera, just buy it. And if you’re not considering buying one, buy one anyway. Edit to say, invest in some bungee cords. The straps can be fiddly.
So jealous! I tracked badgers back to their den last winter and found 2 big family dens close to each other. Have gone back many times and spent a lot of time in the area. Still have not got any good photos. They are so sneaky and intelligent they keep outsmarting me 😂
Trail cameras used to be an expensive tool having looked recently they are about half what they cost when they came out. Great video its one thing owning one its another thing actually using it some great tips there Morten thanks
I´m glad you find out a game changer for you. Unfortunately, at this location (Green Spain, north) wildlife has been stressed and hunted for years.. even if you set up a trail camera network you only realize that your surrounding "wildlife population" are only crepuscular, and you have nothing to do with this situation, flashes are not an option here. However, I track animals and make a map of their trace, any trace, and then tryd figure out the spiral annd pray for no hunting´s dog or hunters disturbed their path and broke the spiral. healthy envy, but envy. Keep working hard and sharing your experiencie. thaks you so much.
Great Video Morten! I think the only thing I will say and many might agree, these more high tech trail cameras are amazing when you know there is little disturbance from people and have the budget. I love that it has the sharing and remote phone features! I would love to have that but I just use a Apeman h45 as it's cheap, and if it gets stolen (which has happened before) in that case I have lost £50 rather than £300 haha. But I will consider the use of different angles, I do usually place it low to ground, but will try set it away from lots of foliage, it's worked wonders monitoring my local Fox Cubs playing, feeding from mum and helped understand using the timestamps when I can arrive to film them with my DSLR.
Thank you so much for sharing all this amazing information. You are by far my favorite photographer. I take your tips into the field and they work so well. I look forward to everything you put out!
Hi Morten I see you still use the Z series from Nikon, thats great, i just got the Z6 og a new used tripod (gitzo) and a new prober gimbal head and it’s because of your wonderfull videos. Thankyou 👍
Re: Moisture and condensation, I always place some Silica Gel packets that i get with new shoes and electrical equipment cameras etc and i have shot in cold weather and then inside and getting my lenses all fogged up, but put them in my camera bag inside a large zip bag for a short while and its goes and ut gets any moisture that is trapped anywhere in the camera too. Try it you will be surprised : )
Que buen video tu si te cobectras con la naturalesa pero la menrable que el resto del Mundo se esta cabando las naturalesa te felizidades con tu video y tus imajenes de foto 💗💗💖💗💖💗💖💗🌏🌎🌍
Sir could u make a video on how do you make a living out of wildlife photography. In one of your old videos, you didn't really mention how you exactly make a living. So it would be great if you could make one soon. I guess most of us are looking forward to that video. Thank you. Regards, Aditya
Great video Morten, i have managed to film ,for the first time, Fox, Deer, Squirrel ,Badger and Pinemartin using my own trail camera for the first time last week. very exciting when you film animals that you very rarely see at other times. Although my camera is not as sophisticated as your own it is still worth having to give me an in site into a world i would otherwise not get access to. Thanks for sharing 👍
Hi morten. I was so happy when I saw your video in my notifications and it did not fail to please. great tips. I will be finding all the wildlife near me hopefully, and getting some good shots. :)
Oh gosh, you might know I am a professional tracker. My first gamecamera... Oh wow oh wow! I could suddenly find out how some signs were made by animals in days, where before it could (sometimes) take a decade! They are awesome in many many levels :D
Melani Wright probably one of my favorite animal to photograph, baby foxes are even better!! In this season I’ve found 3 different dens with puppies. You can check my photos of them on my Instagram: madej_photography. Good luck with 🦊
Your phototrapping tips are very wise Morten. I myself am a Spromise user, and I am preparing a revision of the 358 model, which is 3G. I'd like you to take a look at it if you had time. Greetings from Spain.
Awesome stuff - trail cameras are such great tools for seeing what's about when you're not there, both in the wilds and also in your own garden! I sometimes wish the mobile coverage was better in the Scottish Highlands so I could use 4G trail cameras, but there's no point for me because there is often no good signal where I would want to place them... Looking forward to seeing the badgers :)
I have the same problem with little to no signal where I want to put cameras. I love the mountains but the nature of the land makes the signal break up.
Camera traps is a very powerful tool but a bit expensive for me right now hopefully soon I will get one or two. Great content as usual love from India.
Have you ever forgot where you hang up a trail camera and didn't find it again or get stolen? Nice video Morten. I thinked about buy me one of these trail cameras. I hope Bjørn got my greeting and a treat as you promised.
Yes I have definitely forgotten where I put up a camera:) I then have to look at the last photos it sent to me and then usually I remember... He did. He is sleeping underneath my chair right now;)
I bought a trail camera a while back but with so much private land around me I have barely used it! It was useful to find out that rats were stealing my chicken feed though! 😂🐔
Private land may actually help by keeping the public from hiking all over the place. If you are comfortable with contacting the land owner you can ask permission to put a camera up. If they say yes, great, if they say no well you didn't lose anything really. They may also be interested in seeing what wildlife is on the property.
As you're from the UK you can try and call your local nature reserve managers from the likes of RSPB or local Wildlife Trusts, though I've found my local Wildlife Trusts to be useless at replying to emails and calls. The RSPB have allowed me to setup trail cameras at certain sites for use with photography. Council owned woodland is always a no.
Great and very informative video! Enjoyed it so much! Btw, in Germany the exact same trail cameras are from the brand „Seissiger“ and they have consistently positive reviews.
Morten .....- I felt there was "something" missing in the video: the COFFEE :-) I want to have always Coffee in your videos because that's kind of your branding :-) :-)
Happy Sunday to all of you! Here in NYC were having a massive protest and I am glad watch this video for my outlet. Speaking of wildlife, does anyone have any recommended books/sources regarding to wild animals? I thought it might be a good chance to learn more in tracking them for my photography trip.
Great video as always. Now if I could just afford a prime lens. I have the first version of the Tamron 150-600 and it's just soft. Tried fine tune AF, VR, no VR, Single point AF, etc.... to no avail

Those are awesome! The only problem that I have with wildgame cameras is that you never have enough of them... Happy hunting!
Excellent video Morton !
