      You really need to pay attention to the video... actually listen to it before you open your keyboard and let everyone know you didn't listen to a dang thing. It's hunters like you who are actually ruining hunting thru your lack of attention to information. I encourage you to be a part of the solution instead of continuing to be a part of the problem...

      I saw one doe and 23 wolves in Wisconsin gun season. Totally agree with you Jeff, it’s each hunter’s responsibility to know what is going on in their own area and use common sense in what they harvest.
      Thanks for another great video Jeff.

    “Just because you have a doe tag, doesn't mean you need to use it. In fact, just because you use a doe tag, doesn't mean you are a good sportsman, or hunting conversationist.” Bingo!!! Best statement I’ve seen about shooting doe’s! DNR does not care about the deer herd,QDM or the resource in general! They are driven by people that don’t even hunt and all about the money. Be a leader not a follower! Doe’s are actually my secret bait to taking down big bucks every season. Something to pay very special attention to if you hunt small properties!🏹🦌. Great video and points Jeff thanks!

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  7 дней назад +1

      Thanks a lot Nate! Folks need to remember that owning a tag isn't a management decision. Instead, that's a tool for making a management decision. You could end up being more of a sportsman for NOT using the tag depending on the land you are hunting. People need to remember that...

    I can't wait for the late archery/flintlock season here in PA. Already filled my buck tag so I'm gonna have some fun chasing does and I'm not worried about bumping deer around now. I basically stayed out of 30 of my 40 acres during rifle season this year since I didn't want to bump a big buck I am sure is using that part of the property. I basically just hunted right around the house.

    Agree 100% with your thoughts on this Jeff.
    I wish people just took the time to think about this.
    A couple of hard winters devastated the area I did most of my hunting.
    It takes a lot of time for the deer to recover when you lose several year classes of deer.

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  7 дней назад +1

      Depending on the area it can rebound in a couple of years...or literally never. The "never" is in the case the lake superior shoreline where giant winter kills took out entire square miles of deer at a time. Snowbelt areas and big woods, no ag. Those areas can take several years or more.

    Jeff I’ve watched you since 2019 where I lived in Alabama & had permission to a 500 acre farm and did everything wrong
    Now I live in Pennsylvania and hunt a 5 acre property & do everything you say everytime of the year & during the hunting season
    I have had more success hunting on that 5 acre parcel up here after taking time and learning and trying something I wouldn’t necessarily have done on my own and it works just about every time I’ve seen more bucks on the hook than I ever did on that 500 acres Simply because I chose to make the most of what I had with what I had thanks to your guidance via these videos! Congratulations on the success this year. It’s been fun to watch and thank you for your knowledge and your wisdom on this channel!
    I don’t know if you do trips out to 5 acre backyards but if you do, I’d still love to get your opinion!

    The issue here in NJ is: the Auto Ins companies complained about the pay outs on Deer hits. Back in the day, (70's) into the early eighty's, we had to apply for a Doe permit. Now it's unlimited Doe's in all seasons. This along with the Coyote & Coywolves, auto hits, CWD & Blue tongue disease has the herd is suffering I feel. I can't justify shooting any Doe right now here as they are next years "baby makers". I'm very disappointed with the State of NJ and the Deer management issues going on. Good video Jeff and, my food plot turned out pretty good here in Salem County, NJ this year despite no rain hardly. Wes was and has been a big help assisting me answering various questions etc. My goal this year was simple: plant a food plot to try and help the Deer not to kill Deer especially Doe's and small Bucks with the issues we have going on here. I've had some small Bucks on camera but nothing I would want to take. Hopefully they and a lot of Doe's will survive to make it to next year. It's a sad situation and honestly I can't believe the State is allowing all of this to happen. They started the Coyote release program back in the early/mid ninetys and now it's out of control. And with the cross breeding now into the "Coywolves" it's really bad. New Jersey is a small State compared to a lot of others and it is vastly populated in Northern NJ. We down South are a lot of AG but being taken over by building and warehouse's everywhere. I'm sad over what has happened to our beautiful "Garden State" Great video's Jeff ! Thanks........MIke

      Thanks great Wes helped you out a lot Mike...we appreciate him too!
      It's so tough. The DNR gives us the tools and it is so much easier on private land..but man even then. There are pockets how good habitat private lands where folks shoot way too any does, and on public 🤦🏻‍♂️ I feel bad for a lot of public land hunters when it comes to deer populations. I would venture a guess on most public lands the # of deer is too far below carrying capacity. So many factors go into excessive doe permits in each state but one thing is clear...it is a real problem.

    Great advice on doe harvest. My home of Erie, still getting shout outs for snow! The main food source where i hunt is a green field. One night last year during gun season( no snow), i saw 22 deer in the field. This year with the snow, its like a ghost town.

    I’ve been following your videos for a few years now and have learned a lot. Some things I have been able to apply to my small parcel which has been great. I am in Virginia, so come rifle season and the hunt dogs come out, it seems as though a lot of the tips, tricks, and methods don’t really apply once the dogs start running consistently. Could you do a video addressing how dogs affect deer patterns?

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  6 дней назад +1

      Dang well I appreciate you following! But man, those dogs can mess things up so bad. I actually don't have a lot of experience with dog hunting for deer. I have experience with neighboring dogs ruining land...but that's a separate actual legal issue.

    Me and the wife have hunted our area on the club lease for quite a few years in west Arkansas. Early on we went one year and never fired a shot, other years maybe take one.
    We set up in an area that no other members messed with because there were no deer in there.
    After a few years we had attracted deer and practiced some trigger finger management.
    Now, we pick and choose, and still maintain the good breeding does, but take old dry does as we can, and I don’t see that changing.
    We monitor the number of breeding does, and we dont believe we are overpopulated, and we keep food plots and minerals available year round.
    Management is the key.

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 i feel like we do have good numbers. But being able to only kill bucks in early muzzle (first two weeks of nov) and rifle (second two weeks of nov) means a lot of young bucks are killed. Spikes, forks etc. You have to work hard here, very hard to shoot 4 year old or older mature bucks. Plus a lot of "management" that yall do is hard to do as you might arrive to an area you have managed only to find someone sitting there. So its a lotta climbing and boot work lol. A lot.

    I’ve got the only standing corn in the neighborhood in northern Wisconsin and based on what the cameras are showing I’ve only got 12-16 does and fawns hitting it. If we had too many deer I feel there should be a lot more than that. Especially with this last cold front and snow on the ground in an area where big woods meets ag. We didn’t kill any deer this year.

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  7 дней назад

      If that's reflective of a large area...that's not a lot of deer! Unless there are other major food sources around you would think that's it for a ways...

    • @peterj727
      @peterj727 7 дней назад

      There are a few cut corn fields and hay fields southeast of me and another ag pocket a couple miles north but other than that it’s big woods situation. I’m not saying I have all the deer by any means but there certainly is a lot of very low deer density areas in the big woods country.

    Jeff i hunt mostly in urban areas, and on the occasions ive shot doe during the rut ive dragged them back to my tree and had bucks follow our trail. Ive butchered doesin my backyard, mid November, 200 yds from the squirrel hill tunnels, and had mature bucks walk into my backyard and stare us down. Caveat here is my target bucks have more interactions with humans than yours & your viewers. But ive always wondered why so many guys pass up does during the rut - that carcass is better than a bait pile!! Happy holidays to you & yours. Steve in Pittsburgh

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  6 дней назад

      EAB wasn't very successful in WI...in fact roughly 30% of the "doe" harvest under EAB turned out to be fawn bucks. So WI scrapped the practice. Also, WI and Iowa are 2 states that have 2 and 3 bucks you can shoot respectively, and any MI hunter wishes they had hunting like those states. WI's season is much longer, too! Then you have a 1 buck state in PA that had pretty poor hunting until they adopted state wide APRs. The 1 buck law did nothing until APRs were in place. Also, some of the best hunting in MI is in the APR counties...even tho they still can shoot 2 bucks.

They just raised 4d to 77,000 doe tags and brought in a 3week after christmas doe only rifle season. Completely ridiculous! Everyone i talk to says they aren't seeing deer....yet people are shooting the doe they do see. Haven't shot a doe in 7 years. Most Hunters hunt for meat and when they finally get the opportunity they take it.

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

      Those tags are a huge part of the problem. I do not believe the accuracy of their "scientific guesstimates" either they base their numbers on either. I believe they would never want to complete drone census surveys that count actual bodies because it would blow their guestimate #s out of the water.
      I hunt in 2F and the #s are extremely low.

    We no longer shoot does. Couple of our neighbors hammer every deer they see. This greatly impacts our area and better to error in more of the doe sanctuary on our property, which adds to us seeing more and better bucks more consistently. Overall, our area of WI does not have the deer numbers the DNR claims. We couple the nonharvesting of does with nonsummer buck habitat- we let them summer elsewhere. Understand your points, but our situation is more of doe protection.

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

      Oh definitely Jeremy! Sounds like a great management strategy.
      I firmly believe the scientific population models that most states use, is flawed. Schooled and followed correctly, but flawed. I am hoping some day states begin to use drone count sample census surveys so that actual bodies can be counted instead of guestimated.

    Start your podcast with something like, shoot a doe only when everyone has shot a nice 8 ppint or something. If its brown its down, leads to big no buck frowns in the future......

    Please clarify your comments about shooting does late because it won't push bucks off your property. I assume you meant simply that you don't want to push bucks off to neighbors who are able to shoot them at the time, but you're still pushing those bucks from your parcel for awhile, correct? We can't be doing much doe shooting here this year, our numbers are down significantly.

    I will get flamed for this….own 160 acres in kansas timber country. Built a house in the middle of it, talk about disturbance….about 20-25 does using it, 15-20 different bucks each rut are identified. Watching bucks mature over the years, bed, eat and live on my place. The whole tip-toe around thought process is overblown outside of prime hunting season, in which I keep disturbance to a minimum to reduce pushing deer into a neighbors lap but if I didn’t witness it I wouldn’t believe it either. Nice Kenneth...I like that trade! Heck, I would can him one 😁 My 2 year old son Jax and I are going out tonight for a doe in MN...OR, a big random buck if we see one, ha. Or both...I hate to be greedy but both would be great 😁
