Thank you! I'm finishing a project that my friend's mother started before she passed. It says to attach the doll arm and body with a button joint...I had no idea what that was! Thank you for a very helpful video! Can't wait to give this to her granddaughter!
Thank you so much! Your tutorial is very detailed, but not long, and your video is so clear I can see everything you're doing. Thank you!! I bought an Etsy pattern for a crochet dog with sewn on legs. I'm going to try to do this instead to make it poseable.
Your video positively shines out amongst others on this topic - very clear instructions and very well filmed so that we could see exactly what you were doing. Off to buy buttons! Many thanks.
Wow!! I had no idea at all how to make a button joint. I done a search and this was first video that popped up. I LOVED YOUR VIDEO! Great tutorial, very enjoyable to listen to. Thank You!!!!

This was exactly what I was looking for and my daughter can now play with her sweet little doll again... ever so grateful for your lovely easy to follow video. Thanks
Thanks for the video. I loved the elephant. I am going to try making mine with the button joints now, instead of buying the plastic joints, which can run into a lot of money over time.
Thank you for your tip on button joint, Would this technique work on 4 hole button? Please let me know. Have 8 dolls to make, I cotter pined 4 with hard board dics. I still have 4 more to make. My daughter sent me several 4 hole buttons. Thanks M.E.
Very neat! However, I don't always like the look of the button on the outside. I was wondering if you have ever heard of someone stuffing the body then putting the buttons on the inside of the legs so you don't see them, and then stuffing and finishing the limbs?? Have you tried that? If so could you make a tutorial on it? Thanks for the video! Looks great!
I usually really like the look of the buttons, so I haven't tried the method you mentioned, but there are special joints you can use for exactly the look you describe. I'm almost positive Abby Glassenberg has a chapter on them in her book Stuffed Animals. I reviewed the book here - www.shinyhappyworld.com/2013/06/stuffed-animals-concept-construction.html. I loaned out my copy so I can't check for sure.
Wendi, Don't know if you are still in the stuffed animal business, but I have a very, very large dinosaur that I'm having trouble getting the button joints on. I actually need a 10" doll needle. Any suggestions?
I don't think I've ever seen a needle that long. I'd check at fabric stores, but also at hobby shops - like for model building and things like that. I've often found unusual craft tools there. It may be that you'll have to use a different kind of joint - like the kind that you insert before stuffing and then snap together. I've never used that kind, but Abby Glassenberg covers it in her awesome reference book Stuffed Animals.
Thank you so much. You are a good and caring teacher. God bless you for your kindness.
This was so informative and easy to follow! Thank you!

Thanks for the video. I loved the elephant. I am going to try making mine with the button joints now, instead of buying the plastic joints, which can run into a lot of money over time.
They can be costly and depending on where you get them they don't even work properly.
Thank you forvsuch an easy way to do this!

So cute do you have a camel doll pattern?
Sorry - no.
Can you do this technique with any size animal plush? I make 15" teddybears. Would this work for them?
Yes - you'll just need to choose a button size that works for whatever you're making.
@@WendiGratz So maybe a larger button would be best. Like a 25mm?
@@celestiaa.k.anancyb.5531 It depends on the project. Just choose a button that looks right. :-)
Very clear and helpful, thank you.
What do u do if you want kids to play with it. Do you go over several times ?
Yes - and use a VERY strong thread.
Wendi Gratz I know that this is old but would dental floss work?
Very helpful! Thank you!!
thanks a lot, very clear.
You are welcome!

Wendi, I'll look around. I decided to make the joints movable after I stuffed it. I may have to reconsider that thought at this point. Thanks, Rita
Thank you!
Thankyou very much!
Yay! Tysm this helped a lot!
I LOVE THIS
Thanks so much! :-)
