I LOVE videos where intelligent, erudite people share thoughtful, honest, tactful and personality-driven critiques of all kinds. It's highly subjective so I hope everybody is emotionally mature enough not to get their knickers in a twist. I get so much out of these kinds of monologues and conversations alike, just as much as the gushing eulogistic odes that are so much easier to churn out in every possible respect. I recently ordered over 20 samples to try a bunch of things I can’t find locally. My top two that I want bottles of are Fleur de Peau and Orris Tattoo. I definitely have a type 😂
Anne, I am waiting for you to come out with your own fragrance. Either your own brand or a collab, I would buy it in a heartbeat, no matter what it is.
I love this series you do! I have 3 from Mizensir that I have full bottles of and love. Tres Chere is the fragrance that reminds me the most of Soie Malaquais (also have a bottle of that). They don't have many notes in common aside from some florals and vanilla, but I think that silk accord from SM gives me the same texture and feeling that TC does. Poudre d'Or is also a floral vanilla for me (I mostly get tiare) with this really beautiful, magical, powder texture. Elixir de Musc is the most simple, clean, beautiful white musk with a touch of iris. I especially love wearing this one when it is snowing or on really cold and sunny winter days.
I love sunset hour! And I’m not sure about where you are …but here in Australia/Singapore the goldfield banks perfume prices are in the same realm as the designer Dior /YSL/ Gucci…so 100% worth it for me! And there’s something calming and unpretentious about tam Dao that I absolutely love. I used to live in Singapore until last year and it wore beautifully in the hot and humid climate ❤ Too bad these didn’t work out for you!
Love these thoughts! My Way is a new favorite for me, though. The Tuberose really shines on my skin. It is the fragrance that gets me the most compliments. It is funny that it smells familiar to other scents to you. It smells like nothing I have ever smelled before. This is probably because I have not smelled nearly as many fragrances as you! 🥰
I take your suggestions over everything. I still have every single perfume I’ve ever purchased but LET ME TELL YOU; I got a travel size of Arizona Bloom 2 weeks ago and I’m already halfway through it. I NEED MOREEEE.
I personally love Tam Dao because it smells like freshly ground sandalwood paste mixed with petrichor. It’s very photorealistic and sits close to skin and fresh on me. One of the few unisex fragrances I have enjoyed 😃do try out the edp version too

It's interesting seeing how people's noses and brains process scent information differently, esp with all these new proprietary musk molecules. My brain literally rejects Vanilla Powder, and I thought it would be the one. Others receive it very well. Me? Not at all 😂. The raging headache, while not being prone to even small headaches, was alot. There's something overpowering, dominating, sharp that cuts painfully through my nose and through my head, even with a small spray. I also don't care for the scent enough to spray at a distance further than my arm.
Anne, I have also tried Mizensir- For Your Love and Ambre Magique because of the big fuzz out there but i could not get with it. I love watching these series it saves me money 🤑

GURL NEST's Indigo is absolutely beautiful and so unique. I've heard people say that it smells too much like a home candle. I kinda agree, but honestly, sometimes candles smell so good that I'd want them in perfume form lol, and Indigo is IT. It's my fav perfume besides Another 13, and I pair them together quite often. Honestly an out of this world combo!

I love For Your Love BUT something about it also reminds me of a less complex Musc Moschus by Rania J. I do have samples of a few others you mentioned. I’m particularly wanting to test the “butter” fragrance again😂🤍 I tested and purchased MP Vanilla Powder and it seems a little different than my sample. Letting it sit for a little bit and will plan to try again. Fingers crossed!

Oh Ambre Magique is one if my favorite frag of 2023!!! Masterpiece for me😅❤ the opening is magical!! Vanilla powder was a scrubber tho😅 Dans Paris is another one I REALLY love. So sad they did'nt work for you.
I've just discovered Mizensir. I fell hard for Musc Eternel and now have a Miz sample set of four additional fragrances coming my way. I'm now grateful that I didn't select For Your Love or Ambre Magique in my set. 🤭
Nest indigo was also one of my first loves and I actually still prefer it to Dear Polly. I decluttered it though since I just wasn't finding myself wearing it as my collection grew.
Tam Dao was meh for me when I first smelled it but I found myself missing it when I got through the sample. Turns out I had quietly fallen in love with it and didn’t realize!! It’s my go-to scent when I want to spray something but don’t want to leave a strong impression

Anne, if you like saffron please try the new Dubai from Contes de Parfums. It’s such a beautiful saffron and dates combo, very airy but alluring scent.
I think it smells good for sure, but I wasn't wowed by it. Very similar to fragrances like Jovoy Fire at Will, Epico Vani Charnel, Indult Tihota, and New Notes Caramelo Vanilla. When it comes to this category of sweet musky vanillas, for me, Giardini di Toscana Bianco Latte is the stand out :)
Vanilla Powder is really nice, but I think it would make a better candle or plug-in. I really like Mizensir fragrances, but they took a little bit to grow on me. Really want Magenta Tanzanite and the blue one… 😊

For your love isn’t close to BR540 in my opinion. However it is a hugeeeee compliment getter for me. I don’t care for compliments but some people take it into account when purchasing a new perfume.
I have liked a few fragrances from Matiere première before, and on paper, I would LOVE christal saffron and Vanilla powder. But I recently smelled them in store, and turns out I don't. Glad I did not blind buy them, I was so sure of it, but no. Sharp, as you said.
vanilla powder is nauseating to me. it’s so strong like, it’s the only fragrance where i’ve wanted to scrub it off. so sharp, artificial, nuclear strength. was super disappointed, considering the notes
I was soooo excited to try Fleur de peau, and I’m so glad I did before buying because it does the sharp, animalic, nauseating thing on my skin, I was going to 🤢 and had to wash it off. And it sure lasts, because I couldn’t get it to wash off very well. Juliet has a gun not a perfume super dose does the same thing, ick.
Hello Anne, I also not of fan of majority of this list. I do like Accident A La Vanille, but I’m not happy with its performance, I wish it lasted longer (only 2hrs on my skin). 😊
I like Ambre Magique but I also just like ambergris as a note. My like for it though is not that high and just above "okay." I think because I smelled Liquide Gold by Les Liquides Imaginaires and really like that one, even though ambroxan is just listed but I also get ambergris. A higher like if you will lol
I'm wondering your take on Bois D'Argent . I noticed male reviews, but few female. I guess it must be leaning masculine, but I still find it wonderful and easy to wear. Have you tried it? I'd love your opinion.
To me, it smells unisex! I love the combo of notes, and it's certainly a chic profile, but the execution smells muted to me. It's extremely soft, so I found it too expensive for the performance
I tried Vanilla Powder just the smell on the paper smelled awful to me i didnt spray on myself for that reason. Lush is super hit of miss for me. i used to like literal gourmands but cant anymore. i have goldfield sunset hour but its not my favorite anymore it has alot of musk in it.
I’m personally sick of hearing about Bacarrat Rouge 540.. it smells like toilet or swimming pool water to me. I tried to give it multiple chances but my nose haaates it.
💔accident a la vanilla BUT I agree as far as butter; I smell melted butter with vanilla and sugar and DANG I freaking love it 😂😂😂 I do think it probably matters that I live in cold weather 9 months out of the year
I thought I was going insane with Accident a La Vanille because I could not understand the hype?? I would go a step further and say it smells like burnt butter and sugar 😩

Noses are so different, lol. Smells like a brown sugar, scalded milk vanilla to me. So comforting. I don't get butter, I do get creamy, though.

I was soooo excited to try Fleur de peau, and I’m so glad I did before buying because it does the sharp, animalic, nauseating thing on my skin, I was going to 🤢 and had to wash it off. And it sure lasts, because I couldn’t get it to wash off very well. Juliet has a gun not a perfume super dose does the same thing, ick.

Hello Anne, I also not of fan of majority of this list. I do like Accident A La Vanille, but I’m not happy with its performance, I wish it lasted longer (only 2hrs on my skin). 😊

I like Ambre Magique but I also just like ambergris as a note. My like for it though is not that high and just above "okay." I think because I smelled Liquide Gold by Les Liquides Imaginaires and really like that one, even though ambroxan is just listed but I also get ambergris. A higher like if you will lol
I absolutely adore vanilla powder and it's so long lasting and compliment getting but my sister feels the same way as you. She can't stand it

I'm wondering your take on Bois D'Argent . I noticed male reviews, but few female. I guess it must be leaning masculine, but I still find it wonderful and easy to wear. Have you tried it? I'd love your opinion.
To me, it smells unisex! I love the combo of notes, and it's certainly a chic profile, but the execution smells muted to me. It's extremely soft, so I found it too expensive for the performance

I tried Vanilla Powder just the smell on the paper smelled awful to me i didnt spray on myself for that reason. Lush is super hit of miss for me. i used to like literal gourmands but cant anymore. i have goldfield sunset hour but its not my favorite anymore it has alot of musk in it.
Lush is very hit or miss for me as well, some of them are nice and others I find off putting haha
