- A Day Out with Dad Rail, We take a walk along the beautiful sea wall at Dawlish in Devon, looking at the various trains that come past us on the railway line. Putting Harold the Drone to work we get to see the Railway line and trains including a HST from the air. We Break at Dawlish Warren, for a ride on the Go Karts, before boarding a class 150 back to Dawlish. We see a variety of trains including GWR class 150s 166s and 801 IETs. I finally managed to see a HST at Dawlish! There are a couple of Cross country trains thrown in for good measure.
The view over Langstone Rock and the Dawlish Sea Wall from the air, is spectacular and not to be missed. The trains look like toys from the vantage point of the drone.

I have traveled many times on that line to Plymouth that stretch of line along dawlish is stunning loved the drone footage brilliant
love it. my favourite holiday destination since a little boy. Remember the Virgin and First Great Western valenta hst's screaming by when i was in the swimming pool at Dawlish Sand park.
Teignmouth is the real gem down there.
We were originally going to get the train along to Teignmoith but didn’t have time in the end.

Just watched the video now great video and is so good to see Dawlish o your video's. I did a wild camp last Thursday just down from where you was at Dawlish a couple of tunnels down it's a beach that you can only get too if you live above the beach because its private land to get to the beach. The only other two ways are twice a year you can walk to it at very low tide and to kayak, We kayaked and you can see the trains pass at the back of the beach😁👍

I lived in Dawlish about 25 years ago and used to catch the train for school from Dawlish to Teignmouth and back everyday it was the best way to get around Devon, I love Dawlish and it was a great place to grow up, great footage on a gorgeous day

I was literally in dawlish on holiday at a holiday park in Dawlish warren and have just left today.
I was also in that exact race race track and restraunt at Dawlish Warren lol
I also went from Starcross to Paington on the train
Love it, first went there as a guard for SWT in 1999 and a year later I was driving 159s along there. Sometimes we were crashing through the waves that came over the wall, fantastic. I also drove a HST along the sea wall during a traction course a few years ago. Keep up the good work.

Awesome. Last year I took the kids down there. We took SWR 159 from Woking to Exeter, then 800 to Tiverton Parkway. Stayed in Tiverton. Then did a big day trip on the trains down to Dartmouth and the steam railway, then came back on a XC HST. I was most interested in that 2x HST power cars with no Mk3s. Never seen that before! Also the 150 in the old barbie FGW livery. I didn't know any of those were left!
Absolutely incredible Richard, one of my dream jobs is to drive trains when I'm older. Managed to get into the cab of a crosscountry HST when I was in plymouth.

So.....why don't they place a shed of some sort along these tracks to keep the trains dry?

Also, amazing drone footage. I just bought a DJI Mini 3 Pro. Do you know what the rules are for the sub 250g drones in terms of how close you are allowed to fly to railway lines? Is it 50m horizontally? I'm assuming overflight is not allowed at all?
How come you don’t move to a toc like cross country?
I’m happy on freight for now, and there is no XC depot near where I live. I’d love to have a go on voyagers.
