pick a career path early (more time to change your mind + even if you do change your mind some clubs/ECs may still be applicable to your future career path)
*_freshman year:_*
- pick 2-3 clubs that align with your goals and go to every meeting, make sure the advisor knows you etc etc
- compete in competitions and win first place
- figure out if sports are worth your time
- shadow professionals for experience + connections + figure out if the field is right for you (best if you start young because ppl will be more likely to help you)
- work on community service/volunteering
- *summer:* get an internship (doesn't matter if it's unpaid, it's just for the experience + they will be more likely to write you a good rec letter if the position is unpaid)
*_sophomore year:_*
- get involved in club leadership positions
- build ECs as much as possible
- prep for standardized exams casually (do a practice test on ACT, SAT etc and choose which one you like more)
- *summer:* cram for standardized exam (don't let SAT score hold you back) + secondary priority: a business, nonprofit, capstone project etc
*_junior year:_*
- top level club positions
- keep the nonprofit/business/ECs/volunteering running
- keep your grades up!!
- research different schools/majors
- *summer:* write all college essays
*_senior year:_*
- keep everything running
- keep your grades up
- second semester senior year: take a break!!!
thanks dude
Thnx bro
what are ECs?

as a rising junior i genuinely wish i had seen this while i was a freshman 😭 these tips are so helpful and easy to follow. but for me it’s lowkey too late💀🙏 this is the best video out there
everything you said was so true and probably would’ve helped me a lot
marines time
Are you stupid bro???? My deadline is tmr and I’m still improving my application. If I had a week it would be a god send. You have plenty of time truuuuust me
I am a freshman in my second semester and holy crap, this just provided SO MUCH clarity. This was exactly what I needed
omg me too!! Im sad I wasted the beginning of freshman year
Oh shit me too
@@imanetimite8642babe, you got lucky. trust me. most of us out here are seniors regretting our entire last four years lol
Bro, I found this guy my senior year after just getting accepted to me top choice ED, and I'm now realizing how many opportunities I passed up on😭 who cares it worked out, don't be like me kids
I love this video so much, I definitely wish I saw it freshman year since I didn't really do anything first two years of high school. Now I'm busting my arse in junior year and I did build quite the resume, but it sucks that my full potential hasn't been reached because I didn't know i had potential. I certify this video!!!
hey!! i am in the same position as you unfortunately. even i am in my junior year just realising that i didnt really do anything in my first 2 years and its kinda frustrating that i wasted my years by doing nothing.
so i would simply like to know, what all activities you're doing for your resume in junior year to build quite the resume as u mentioned?
@@saanvikatyal5884 glad you asked! I don't think it's anything unique except for a few things but here you go. Also I'm focusing on Computer Science/STEM stuff:
-6 school related extracurriculars (Speech and Debate, Technology Student Association, Muslim Student Association, Math Honor Society, National Honor Society, Environmental Club)
-Starting Arabic Club next year
- SAMS program at Carnegie Mellon University
-Summer Internship as a Student Tech, dealing with PC hardware mostly
-Volunteering at a local animal shelter (highly recommend this, or try a local food bank if there's no shelter near)
- Self-guided courses on game development/Unity
- probably a couple things I can't remember lol
There are things I applied for and won/got rejected but I'm not sure if u care about those since u asked for activities, so lmk! :)
@@shhhyourtooloud257nice, I’m a rising somphomore, do you have any tips for what I should do? I’m interested in business and tech
@@shhhyourtooloud257I was thinking of starting a club to, is it hard to start one? I just need to find a way to advertise it
@@hopsmax2827hi! I'm not very familiar with business but some things I recommend to do would be speech and debate (for marketing skills), tech student association (for your tech interests and business-like conferences), and any classes which can boost your knowledge in business and tech related stuff, like AP stats, AP economics, or AP csa.
For general stuff, I recommend using your summers like how the video recommended (internships or self learning), but merit-based summer programs revolved around your subject interests would be great too!
For the club, I think you should definitely try starting it if your passionate about it and even more so if it fits your narrative (it is relevant to a personal part of your life). I highly do not recommend starting hobby-like clubs like anime clubs, since they aren't academic at all.
Sorry if my advice isn't helpful, I'm just a rising senior learning the ropes myself 🥲 good luck and have fun!
High schools just smack you with courses to pick, no explanation. At least mine did. Now this is the introduction I would've loved to hear for high school. This video just made me feel so motivated. I'll see y'all at Harvard. Touchwood.
see ya there
See ya!
see you bro. TOUCH MF WOOD
Well it is what it is. If every high school knew this, you’d be competing with the entire nation for harvard admissions. Better kept secret
@@user-en5vj6vr2u That is so true. I feel like most people in my school know this, but some just don’t study so there are advantages for people like me to that since it’s less competitive. Everything is just a big ol competition in grades, course rigor, service hours, etc.
imma be a freshman next yr so seeing ur videos make me feel rlly grateful. thank u so much man, and i hope youre doing awesome 🙌
I am so grateful I saw this prior to my freshman year because now I have developed a strategic 4 year plan all thanks to you!
Same
I love the intensity of your speech. It actually kept me engaged and I learned so much. Thank you so much.
Such an amazing video, this video actually does have the least bs about creating a good application throughout high school out of the 20 or so I've watched in my life. Keep up the great work!
You have to be one of the best RUclipsrs that clearly show what is needed. I'm grateful I got to see this earlier throughout high school. I love that you talked about HOSA, especially since I thought that it wasn't a huge known club when I joined, I did participate in the competitions, so I am thrilled to see you mention it. I'm still deciding whether I should go into the law or medical field so I try to take any activities I can find such as speech and debate and medical-related clubs! Thanks for your help!
As usual, great advice. Love how you’re point to point in precise detail.
As a current HS senior, I resonate with much of what you said. Awesome video.
hands down the greatest college admissions video on this platform
Senior graduating in a month here, everything in this video is pretty much on point. I can tell you I pretty much did all of these things without following a certain “blueprint”, maybe not in the same order but generally got all of the aspects he mentioned into my applications. Don’t feel pressured to follow this step by step but just be aware this gives you a good insight into the different parts of your application and what you’ll need. One thing I can tell you is that in school I never felt super stressed to do any of this and I actually slacked off quite a bit, but I did the things I was most passionate about without really thinking too much of them and I followed what I was drawn to. At the end of the day, an admissions officer won’t likely know how much work you really put in but rather how you present yourself, your experiences and what you learned, so even if you’re not necessarily in the same situation as me, where you just feel drawn to something and do it, you can replicate that pretty easily. In school many of the people that (no offence intended) gave off the same vibe as him, being very on top of things all the time, looked down at me and tried to intimidate others with all that they were doing but I’m here to tell you that you really shouldn’t pay too much attention to that and just gain what you can from it. I got into 2 of the best schools for my major (think top 50 worldwide) and into some other good institutions. Make sure you enjoy what you’re doing and remember you are probably not alone in feeling overwhelmed.
Another banger from the p. Great job this channel helps me out so much. Btw, I would love a video on how to obtain a research position bc that's the one thing I need rn as a freshman. Again, thanks for the advice
say less....
Thank you so much for this video. This video gave some advice and insights I did not even realize, despite my large amount of research. I am a rising freshman, so I am kind of seeing this video that the perfect time.
Unlike many other videos regarding college advice and admissions, your video is truly special. You don't come off as pretentious or arrogant. You only focus on giving high-quality advice in a short amount of time, while giving insight for every stage of the resume-building experience. Great job.
This is actually so so helpful, thank you for making this! Wish I saw this earlier, but it’s not too late yet.
It’s okay to make mistakes, to change your major during your third year, and to follow your dreams. Ironically, it was doing those very things which got me into a T5.
What does T5 mean? I keep hearing the T- and then a number

Now that I’m older, I’m so thankful that I took the opportunity to do the things I was interested in, and let the chips fall where they may. I would have regretted it if I had forgone those opportunities because they didn’t quite fit a certain narrative of what might impress others.
I absolutely loved this video. Subscribed! BTW, please make a video on cold calling/emailing professors and scoring internship opportunities!
my god ur channel is amazing, im a sophomore and i lowkey wasted my freshman yr but im gonna fr use this advice to plan out my ecs, ty

grateful to see this in 7th grade! :) i wanna be an aerospace engineer so i was happy when you said aerospace engineering for example lol
Ima junior now and one thing imma tell you is don’t stop grinding you’re lucky to be cognizant of your future at such a young age
I’d also recommend buying an Arduino getting familiar with it and in about a year with the right guidance you could make a drone and even possibly with ML, notice that 1 year is a stretch you could do it in a months if you put in the effort
Pratik with another BANGER video
im blessed to see this freshman year, thanks so much bro

i don't usually comment on videos but this video is just the best one i have seen in a very very long time
U r the best ever I’m a freshman in highschool rn and let’s see how much this will help me but I had no idea where to start and how and I know this video is amazing and will help me so much!
Hey man thank you so much for this video. Im in my summer of my freshmen year of highschool and have a pretty good idea in my career path, however I do feel I am a little late when seeing this video but its no biggie. Thanks!
underrated youtuber and video. You gained a new sub.
Also, remember that whenever you start is good. Obviously start as soon as you possibly can, but if you can’t start earlier for whatever reason start. Now. I’m 18 and was diagnosed with autism last year so situations like that make stuff like this a bit harder and that’s OK. We’ve got this.
Bro is like Hamza, but academic. Wish I knew about you when i was a freshman. I am a senior now, and I certify whatever this man says
Hoooly crap, going into sophmore year and I’m hella stressed. I’ve decided I want to focus on embedded engineering a while ago, and have some minimal experience with it, but thats pretty much it. I really hope I can turn it around this year and get some important volunteer work + internships settled and take a bit of stress off of me 😅. Dream school is MIT, but I dont know if I’l get it. I know its a lot of work, but there is still worry I am not doing the right thing at times. I really hope I can manage through.
Thank you for the video tips, this is way better than the other videos.
im gonna be a freshman next year this has saved my brain thank u very much 🙏
Watching this summer before my freshman year, and I’m glad I found it!
edit: end of freshman year and I don’t rmr making this comment 😭 I’ve tried my best to figure out my interests this year by joining model un, writing for the newspaper and running for president of my class. I’m definitely struggling though, I don’t know my passions and my ecs are meh. I’ll update sophmore year.
Same! I'm really glad I found it. I was stressing out because I didn't have an exact plan for high school, but this dude was speaking the hard facts. Now I don't have any questions!
Samee!!
ahh i hope you keep updating this throughout highschool
1:25 is freaking FACTS bro. Twisted fact is that really nobody cares enough to tell you this. Imma make sure my little sons and nephews and nieces know this inshAllah
watching this when i am just finishing up my soph year 😭
i know right!? it pains me to see how much I've missed out on doing that could've benefitted me.
It’s okay, you can still do a lot to catch up this summer before your junior year! It’s not too late to start a club if you’d like, one that would hopefully relate to your future career path. Also a great time to create and work on a “passion project” outside of school.
Parents should be watching this as well. Even highly motivated freshmen need a lot of guidance to get their foot in especially with the shadowing part.
Thanks pritik I am a freshman, and this info is golden!
I’m like 2 years late but PRATIK JUST DROPPPEDDD
Sending this to my cousins (incoming freshies) rn. The only issue I’ve seen anyone in the comments have with this video is the fact that they didn’t see it soon enough!
Thank you so very much, Preaching P👏!
you all need to calm down and relax. Go with the flow, don't overthink it, you'll end up where you need to be. If you're stressed about your career path/ doing everything that will look good for your college application/ doing clubs you don't actually want to do but you think will make you seem better than the average applicant when you're a freshman in highschool how burnt out will you be once you get into a top/elite school? I went to an Ivy League, and let me tell you something: a lot of the kids there are exhausted from day one freshman year, let alone when they become seniors. I'm just saying, life is not that serious, relax, enjoy and be young!
bro i love this man

bruh i wish i saw this my freshman year of high school. i already graduated but would’ve done so much better following or even just hearing this advice.
Really wish I saw this video literally at the start of the year. This freshman year.. I felt really underprepared (I did not join any clubs../really ECs)
I do have a 4.0uw gpa and 4.375w gpa so thats good! Just gonna have to lock in sophomore year
Awesome advice!

But i just found your video, and DAMN. ts is like the holy grail of college application video. Thanks so much bro
This video is really great, but honestly it gives me more anxiety than ever.
You’re like the Andrew Tate of college but you spit actual facts

Tate does, too, but I get your point.
More like Hamza since hes so straight foward and they kind of sound similar with similar speech and delivery

Could you make a video about the research you did? Like at your science fairs, I’m so lost on where to start
Me watching this at 32 because I was an Ux Designer with a master degree in Digital Art and go back to school to become a pharmacist. Yes, I wish I knew all of this earlier, but I am ready now and wasn't at the same point at 14yo. If you see this and think you are late in life, don't worry, it's never too late, it will just be a different path !
in my school, we also have a bunch of competitions for technology-related stuff, like coding, graphic design, and a BUNCH MORE, Every field you could think of.
Honestly this is the only video on RUclips that actually helped me. I am so glad that I saw this video in freshmen. I was wondering what type of clubs would be good if I wanted to do a environmental science degree?

seeing this before I even start high school. in two months I’ll be a freshman in high school 🫣
Hey Pratik I loved the video and will definitely try to follow along however there is 1 major problem. my school doesn't offer any clubs or competitions and we're not allowed to start our own either. Would you be able to suggest some alternatives for clubs or some competitions that can be entered independently/remotely?

I wish he’d talk about interests that aren’t stem related. As someone who has interest in languages, the only thing that i can think of is studying abroad (costs money unless you get a scholarship) and tutoring people in say Spanish 😐
Just ended freshman year and I didn’t get into any internships this summer, however I am enrolled into a CS AP Java course and I also have a job at the US open! Is this enough? Planning on volunteering over the course of sophomore year at a local hospital to get 60-100 hours.
Hey I’m a sophomore and I had leadership positions locked in for this year then I moved and I am planning to run for junior year but to be honest it’s mostly based on popularity and people have those positions locked in do you have any advice?
just focus on what you want to do. dont stress about things that are out of your control.
Thank you so much for this video!! When school starts again, I’ll be a freshman in high school. When you mentioned getting involved in clubs relating to your choice of career path, I had a question. I plan on studying in the major of Classics in college, but there doesn’t seem to be many clubs or extracurriculars in this area, especially where I live. In this case, what kind of clubs should I join??
start your own!
This is amazing, would you say this applies to transfers and people who didn't do the 4 yr plan and wanna try again as a college freshman?
This was a great video it’s really helped me sort out my thoughts and plan my next few years. But I’m kind of confused on the nonprofit aspect of the video. What are some examples of nonprofits you can do?
Soo what about someone who missed the two years for a lot of these activities because covid and now finishing high school lol. But there's still two years before going to uni (a levels) so how I do all or most of these things with enough prep for before applying?
rising junior, and im sort of 6 months behind on this blueprint, soooo I gotta CRAM this summer
hey, could you post a video about the ecs, honours/awards and stats you got, and put on the common app?
I’m gonna be a freshman in 2 weeks. Thank you so much
I don't even know why im watching this lmao I'm going into my sophomore year at a Canadian university. Entertaining video nonetheless
Does going in as undecided hurt your chances of getting admitted to a t10 college?
Could you make a video on how you started your non-profit sophomore year?

I'm 17 and do both arts and sciences and so far, no, arts arent easier than stem subs, they're basically the same levels of difficulty in different ways
this is so stressful i'm going to throw up but thank you so much

Pratik, would you recommend getting the IB diploma instead of the AP route? I am a freshman and I have to take the AP route this year. Although it would jeopardize the blueprint, would you recommend me to switch over to IB as a sophomore?
