    is it the fact that the shim has some give in it that makes this less than useful, or is it the idea is just a bit wrong? If its the former, could a thin bit of say steel, suitably insulated (*cough kapton *cough) be the answer? Great video BTW. I just simply swapped out mine with new Hall Effect sticks.

      @@TsiolkovskySportingLocks hall effect sticks is the way to go. I don't think metal would make a huge difference but that's a good point. As I said, I expect that the shim should work best as a preventative measure as opposed to a cure. Glad you enjoyed the video!
