Interesting. I thought agoraphobia only meant the fear of leaving the house. Turns out there is alot more to it

My mom suffered from this when I was young (she's passed now). Panic attacks and all. She had escaped a horribly abusive relationship prior to having me and I'm sure that played a large part. Although I knew she had this I honestly didn't know much about it. Thank you for this video Doc, I feel it has helped me understand a little more about my mom. Xoxo

Yup 15 years of it been diagnosed done everything spent 1 grand on treatment still struggling even put myself in the situations and build it up! At least I'm a functioning to a degree but it's very depressing. If I had the option of amputation of a leg or live with this for the rest of my life. I would have my leg off tomorrow.

Amazing video! Not only this one but all of them more or less! I keep watching them to study for my Adult Psychopathology course. Just one comment, when you talk about treatments and medication you mention Zoloft in the benzos. If I am not mistaken Zoloft is an SSRI, so maybe you wanted to say Xanax? Correct me if I am wrong. Thank you once again for these great videos, very informative and educational!

Hey fam, Hope you enjoyed the video.
    1) Sorry about the typo with the word Cognitive**
    2) Zoloft is NOT a Benzo (sorry about that!). It's sertraline which is an SSRI**
Keep an eye out because I'll be filming a short course of Mental Health First Aid Skills soon!

Thanks for putting so much effort in dr syl im not being sarcastic with things like youtube where titles are very important and youv got so much on your mind about what to write and what your dicription will be your bound to find typos and stuff and it happens to a lot of people but not much people take time to apologise and correct it but you did and we all all appreciate it keep up the good work buddy.
And also the lack of dislikes on the video makes me think that your gonna make it big one day and you really deserve it keep up the hard work doc.

as a trans woman, i feel that a lot of trans people have this, me included, because of the fear of facing transphobia in public that we so often hear about. so just being on a public bus or in line at the bank is a huge trigger for anxiety because if someone comes after us or starts yelling at us then we can't easily get away from that aggressor and will feel like we're exposed and vulnerable. thanks for the video more clearly explaining it, as i thought it was a more general fear of being looked at, which many of us have as well.

and yes, of course, we often avoid going out in public altogether out fear. i heard one trans person who got asked if they worked out at a gym and the response was, "i can't go to the gym, i'm trans," so it's definitely a real thing, at least anecdotally.
