This is definitely something I’ve had since I’ve been old enough to recognise people could judge me. I didn’t realise what it was til I was in my early 20’s though.
It can go undiagnosed for a long time. Needs a medical professional to diagnose it though! I wish you all the best Bel on your journey and hope my videos can help in any small way!
I liked your video on schizophrenia. I didn't know if you could do one on schizoaffective disorder. I liked the explanation on psychosis (in the schizophrenia video). You always break it down so well. Thank you for making these videos.
Thanks for this. I’m a recovered alcoholic and get very anxious when I’m around people- even those I know. Even the thought of social or ‘peopling’ occasions can make me feel nervous- I do try to do some things anyway, but often avoid situations. I’ve been prescribed Cymbalta for fibromyalgia and that has helped somewhat, but this is something I will be bringing up at my next counselling session.
Oh god, I always hated it so much when people thought I was shy (and still do)! I have social anxiety, but I think if I could "just be myself" in social situations, I would probably not really resemble a shy person. In fact I think that I can be relatively extroverted, depending on the environment. I really dislike how social anxiety is often seen as "extreme shyness", or like we have a "shy" personality trait taken to the extreme. I don't identify with that!
Oh social anxiety. I was diagnosed with general anxiety a few years ago, pretty sure there was social anxiety too. While I wasn't diagnosed with social anxiety by the psychiatrist who diagnosed the general one, I did get into a treatment through a research. It was a group CBT and it helped me so much, along with SSRI. I still feel this anxious tingling in situations like talking on the phone or asking questions in class (university), but it's so much more managable now. It took A LOT of work.
Thanks for the great video! Really informative and super easy to follow and understand. I have been treated for social anxiety disorder in the past (CBT and medicine) which took a long time but it really helped. I still remember the day when I finally understood and accepted the phrase "What other people think of me is none of my business" and managed to be around people in all sorts of situations without fears or anxiety. It was hard work to treat the disorder, but the result has been worth the effort! A decade on and I'm living such a good life, where before it was so exhausting and full of angst even thinking about interacting with other people.
Y'all should check out Healermanchris on IG he got LSDs,Shrooms, DMT that helps cure anxiety, depressed mood, aggression, impulsive behavior, insomnia, irrY'allitability, low self-esteem,poor appetite and poor memory.... he ships discreetly worldwide 🚚
You mentioned XTC, it works by flooding the brain by releasing it's stored serotonin to synapses, and the effect is profound in terms of personality. Is that what SSRIs supposed to do on the long run of prolonged treatments? (Although there are subtypes of 5-HT receptors that have different effects when stimulated or blocked)

I have extreme anxiety when it comes to anything medical. When I was a child, I fainted MULTIPLE times when I was forced to listen to medical information. I had a brain scan done as a child for the fainting spells and have no idea what the results were and can't get ahold of the records. I still have severe panic attacks when getting medical care which has interfered with me obtaining the care I need sometimes. I started taking anxiety medication a few years ago but it really doesn't help when it comes to medical stuff. Is there something else that can help with this extreme anxiety?

I've heard avoidant personality disorder is even worse and that's what I suffer from.
