I know that they also had their budgets slashed starting with Justice League War and it kept getting slashed.

Fun Fact: Damian was originally Dick's Robin in the comics. That's why their dynamic is basically the reverse of the regular Batman and Robin dynamic aka Batman is the cheerful and peppy one while Robin is the dark and brooding serious one. Love how the running gag of calling the Mad Hatter Abraham Lincoln worked out.😂
Alfred knows how to throw hands and skilled with guns is because he is a former top agent of MI-6, before he became the Wayne's butler and bodyguard. The Bat-Family has around 20 or more members
And thinking that there is still Red Robin, Red Hood, Spoiler (Yes, that is the name of a member of the Bat family, Stefany Brown) and Orphan, in the Bat family, no one has more allies and subordinates than Batman.
While I am not really the biggest fan of this movie, I do have to say I really like the focus on the Bat-Family in this movie since a lot of Batman media tends to push them to the side despite how much of a quintessential part they play in Batman's mythos as we see Dick take up the mantle of Batman to honour Bruce despite how much he doesn't want to. I also love this movie's take on Batwoman, as this is the most faithful/best depiction of Batwoman we've seen. Believe me when I say other adaptations of her are really bad? I do kinda feel like Tailia was handled a bit poorly in this movie, and her sudden turn as a villain feels somewhat out of nowhere, considering that in Son of Batman, she showed genuine love for Damian and wanted what's best for him and even showed her feelings for Bruce despite how had conflicting feelings about what she did to him, and yet in this movie she's just as much of a cold malicious monster as Ras Al Ghul was, perhaps even worse, brainwashing Bruce and abusing Damian in captivity. I know she is a villain, but the way they established her character in this universe, she seemed far more of a three-dimensional character and actually wanted to change the League of Assassins for the better to make it something good, but in this movie, it seems like they just threw that all away.
I think their reasons for it and the easiest way to explain her complete 180 in terms of character is the Lazirous pit. Talia didn't just get injured in The Son Of Batman, she straight up died and while bringing someone back that on the verge of death chips away at them slowly, completely bringing someone back from the dead can have way more disastrous consequences. So, her being brought back from death basically sent her mad. The pit didn't necessarily bring back Talia, it resurrected her body but it gave life to a completely different person

A little comic fun fact about Batwoman is that much the same as Batman and Robin, a female pair eventually appeared in the forms of Kathy Kane's Batwoman and Bette Kane's Bat-Girl. Bette is the original before Barbara Gordon was created. You might notice that Kathy evolved into Kate. An additional fun fact is that Alfred, at the time period, fully believed that Bruce and Kathy would get married and have a son together who would become the Robin to Dick Grayson's Batman. The really creepy thing is that much like the later Kate Kane, Kathy and Bette are Bruce's cousins as Martha Wayne's maiden name is Kane. General question to actual comic readers, as Slade's wife's maiden name is also Kane, does that make Slade's kids related to Batman? Or is that like a completely different family that just so happens to have the same last name?
Warner Bros had a mostly finished live-actiin Batwoman movie with Brendan Frasier as Firefly. It was going to be a more street-level superhero film. But with leadership switch and the rebooted live action universe, it got aborted despite being quite far along.
I really like reading about the bat familly even more than just Batman in big part because I love how they clash with Bruce. He can be a massive dick and at times they can humble him. Which brings back those moments that highlight why they are called a familly rather than just a team.
36:27 “It’s the theatre all over again.” Aaaaand that was the joke that sent me. They managed to make it a running gag without knowing anything in advance 😆 😂
Funny enough, they tried to give us this in live action with the CW shows, which included the first live action portrayals of Batwoman and Luke Fox (Batwing) but because of budget and studio/character limitations, they never reached the level of the animated films or shows, who aren't anywhere near as limited because the studios don't feel like an animated film released to Home Video can hold a candle to a live action movie released in theaters. The issue with creating a live action film continuity like what Marvel has done with theirs has always been the individual film limitations, actor paychecks and contracts and conflicting views from the studio and the filmmakers. Marvel got lucky in the early years with how everything turned out, though we are seeing the signs of the Marvel Franchise struggling under its own weight. Personally I feel that DC can and should focus more on its animated films and give them the budgets they deserve. They might actually outperform Marvel in theaters... if they ever became brave enough to make theatrical releases of them.
The MCU worked because it didn't start out trying to be a connected universe. They made independent movies that could stand on their own and just threw Nick Fury in as a cameo hoping that maybe, possibly, some day it would amount to something. When DC tried it, they built it universe first, and then tried to jam the movies into a pre-made shape. Thus, the movies were not individually good enough. They also tried to rush to the Justice League as fast as possible, meaning they had to introduce multiple new characters while also bringing everyone together. With Avengers, all the major characters, outside of Hawkeye, had already been introduced in prior movies, so they could spend more of the runtime on the movie's actual plot instead of character introductions. DC wanted what Marvel had but didn't have the patience to earn it.
The only ones missing from this family are Jason Todd Red Hood, Tim Drake Red Robin, Ace the Bathound. There’s also Cassandra Cain who also took the names Batgirl and Orphan Stephenie Brown who was also Batgirl but better known as Spoiler. Lastly there’s Duke Thomas as The Signal but he was relatively new.
Fun fact: mad hatter isn't really a villian yet his name is Jervis tetch and he was just trying to stay alive even though through all versions he is villainous he is still the most tame of the villians as he doesn't really do evil he is just a human rejected by a girl named Alice which his why he goes by mad hatter, and his look was inspired by the times during Abraham Lincoln so you're not off the mark entirely
Them losing it to the amount of bat family members makes me laugh. They will never know Jason, Tim, Steph and Cass. Its always bugged me that this universe has batwoman and batwing but not Red hood, red robin, Spoiler and orphan
A recurring joke in the batman fandom is that the batfam is so big because Bruce keeps adopting/recruiting people or some people get into the family and, to be fair, it is pretty big

I think by the time they're done with DCAMU they'll be hooked enough to definitely want more and go for standalones.
Cuz baby now we got…I forget the rest
Unlike Batman’s no killing rule, Alfred in his own words “abides by no such niceties”.
i love how badass batman is in the intro. hes fighting them so effortlessly
Every bat needs a homie squad.
You should try Batman beyond
12:50 HA... Well, Bruce doesn't have a *twin* brother, but he does have a brother in a different universe -- Thomas Wayne Jr.
isnt that proven false
@@shrekisheck2856 No.
the only thing missing from this movie, red hood, red robin, spoiler, orphan and maybe even bluebird
(and signal)
Nuns, guns, and puns was gold.
(At 10:47) My question is: How do you recover after you, your mother, and your twin sister, kidnapped, tortured then, taken hostage, and then your mother and sister got murdered… on your birthday?
"He's gotta be in the other movies, you don’t give us batwing and then take this away." Oh they took it away, they took him away, they took everyone and everything away and spat on them like they were filthy dog water, then asked us to praise them for it. There is no end to my contempt for apocolyps war, it didnt even have the decency to be a good movie when it shit in my eyes
As far as I know, reminds of Bruce`s childhood trauma is able to break almost any from of mind control
(At 15:17) You think "The Mad Hatter" looks like Abraham Lincoln because of his sideburns and top hat? Just hit me He KNOWS who Batman is, now.
The VA for Talia is Deadpool girlfriend in the Deadpool trilogy. Honestly DC should make her the live action Talia fr
Try and keep in mind that it’s usually Marvel who leaves extra clips at the end of their movies, not DC.
There's a running gag in these movies that Nightwing's arm is the biggest casualty of the series, as it gets busted up in almost every appearance lol
Friendly Reminder that Alfred DOEZ NOT share Batman's no killing code and was a member of MI6 if I remember correctly
Crazy fact Abe was called honest Abe because he would stay out of domestic violence in couples.
Deadpool's Dead Presidents is a pretty fun comic to read if you want somebody to fight historical figures.
The flyer that got crushed by debris was Killer Moth. You guys met him in Teen Titans as the father of Kitten and creator of Silky.
Fun fact, Batwomen is the strogest and perfect batman because she said the suit if perfection when it fits a woman
She's a real herro
23:52 Batwing is the name of batman’s plane. Not to be confused with the batjet lol
Nuns with guns you say? Sounds like it's time to watch Black Lagoon
Alfred doesn't play! He's fully prepared to kill people.
(At 23:45) This is what EVERYONE'S been asking for, for a long time… A "Black" Batman.
Imagine the headlines on that, "Billionaire Bruce Wayne Kidnaps Summit Guests"
24:45 "What're you doing? That was the most sleep I've had in literal years!"
Erik: "so there's 5 Bat people other than Batman?"
Me who watched the Wayne Family Adventures: "There's a lot more than 5 lol"
i think we can all agree that NO ONE expected him to turn the gun on himself there.
So, Talia's lackeys include Electrocutioner, Tusk, Firefly, Killer Moth, Hellhound (The guy with the red mask and karate skills), Mad Hatter, Onyx, and Calculator (The guy with the cybernetic eye).
There are plenty of other movies not connected to the DC Animated Universe that you're watching. I wholeheartedly request Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, Justice League: The New Frontier, Batman: Assault on Arkham, and Justice League: Gods and Monsters. Thank you.
Oh, and Kori is short for Koriand'r. Starfire's real name.
Dick and Damien as Batman & Robin is one of My favorite runs of comics.
Alfred in most stories of batman is ex military so its always interesting to see that he can fend for him self.
"Perhaps you relied on my masters vow against lethal force. Let me assure you that I subscribe to no such niceties" - Alfred Pennyworth, while reloading a shotgun
Don't know if you got ever seen Gotham if not you should check it out it's about Bruce Wayne becoming Batman as a teenager Catwoman poison ivy all teenagers The Riddler the penguin it's about all the origin stories
As much as i think talia is an interesting character, we desperately need way more of nyssa on screen in these types of movies.
Some people think the reason we don't get this stuff in live action is budget, but I call bull on that. You could very well do this movie in live action. The characters don't even have any powers, it's just regular people beating the crap out of each other. The only things that would need a high budget would be Batwing and the watchtower falling; both of which could still be done cheaper with partial practical effects.
Green Lantern? Sure, I can understand that. But Batman doesn't need crazy stuff. The real reason is that the big wigs just don't give a shit. They're not gonna hire writers and directors who made "kid stuff" (read: animation). The animated movies have more freedom, yes, but not just because of budget reasons, as they tend to have lower budget than the live action movies in the first place, but rather because the people with money don't take them seriously so they don't have as much scrutiny.
There were still at least two members of that Bat Family missing there. Red Hood and Red Robin.
So, in comics, if i had to guess off the top of my head there is about 13 members of the batfamily. If you guys want something that explores most of them check out Wayne Family Adventures. Its a slice of life webtoon thats really good
VOICE OF THIS PARTICULAR ALFRED IS AVATAR ROKU!!!
For the Avatar fans here, Alfred's VA also did Avatar Roku.
People may be in seemingly random alleys, but that might be just at a club backdoor or some other hangout spot.
Anyone else getting the feeling Batman straightup ript Cyborg's tech to make the Batwing suit? It's even got the glowing blue tentacles that can integrate and build new tech.
Alfred’s a military vet and his no kill rule doesn’t exist.
Justice League Infinite Crisis on two earths
The Mad Hatter and Clayface would be an exceptional villain pairing for a Pattinson Batman movie
Does anyone know the one song when Dick Grayson reveals his identity to Batwoman?
Well there's Orphan, Spoiler, Red Robin, The Signal, and Red Hood in the family too
34:29 Honestly, I’ve been preaching it myself, but I think it comes down to animated movies are made by smaller teams that care about what they do and the source material. Live action movies are made by larger directors trying to make a big hit spectacle, source material or not.
Man I love watching these guys, feels like watching the movies again with friends. Just two things tho: 1) I kinda hate you cause’ you can just binge ALL OF THEM while I waited YEARS for each of these movies since flash point. And 2) Am I the only one who’s morbidly waiting for them to reach Apokolips? if you know you know
Nuns with Guns would be a wicked band name.
The BatFamily is I believe the Biggest Super Family!
Having them all at the end, including Batgirl? Villains should RUN!
All we need now is The Signal. (Yes I know we're missing Red Hood and Red Robin but The Signal needs more love).
(At 23:15) What kind of church did you ladies come from, anyway?!
Love these guys and their reactions is good to relive some childhood films and shows with them
This DC universe should literally be the blueprint for the live action projects and I need the budget to be top tier
