- Hello! I recorded this one specifically for someone who wanted to hear the theme called Balamb Gardens, which I don't believe there's a separate piece dedicated to that theme. I believe it appears in the Ami arrangement from the piano collections as well, although not for as long. Either way, I love both themes, and this arrangement captures the emotions very well! This is one of the games I used to watch my brother play as a kid. I seem to remember the gameplay being kind of tricky, and I'm not sure he ever finished it (Maybe he will say otherwise!). Here's to another great theme by Uematsu!

This game and this music has helped me through a really rough time in my life that I lost someone very close to me. Today I still play the game so I can live the romance and listen to this beautiful music .Thank you for replaying this beautiful song in such a beautiful way. Every time I listen to it I cry of emotion.

I think this is the theme from trabia garden when the party goes to it (selphie a character wanted to see it where she is from and they went after it was hit by missles) and this is the music that is playing throughout.

FF8 LATE DISC 2 SPOILERS: Yeah, Squall wants to check on Trabia garden after the missile attack on it in disc 2. They start to remember their childhood (if I remember correctly) after they realize they have met before and this song plays during the memories of being at the Matron's (Edea's) orphanage together as small children. That inspires them to go to Edea's house, but Galbadia is waiting for them and the most epic battle sequence in the entire game starts when the 2 gardens fight each other. You end up fighting Edea for the second time, (EARLY DISC 3 SPOILERS COMING NOW) freeing her from Ultimecia's control (LATE DISC 3 SPOILERS COMING NOW) and removing her sorceress powers (you find that out after Doctor Odine is done examining her).

Are the lesser amount of views/likes a sign that less people played FFVIII or even remember the music? I think it’s some of the most mature writing Uematsu did (until his work on Lost Odyssey), especially since the soundtrack is full of nods to Chopin, Debussy, Satie, Ravel, heck... even some Philip Glass.

Thank you! This IS an awesome piece. It's funny, after recording this music, a few weeks later I have a desire to go back and record it again. Not necessarily because I didn't like my recording (although with one or two that might be the case lol..), but because I love the music so much, and never get tired of it.

Wow, somehow that really inspires me to go back to the organ. I'm going to look this piece up as soon as i can. The reason I don't play much organ is because it's hard to get access to one. I used to have one in my house! Electric of course but a nice one. Maybe I'll get back on it to learn this piece! Such delicate melodies, this was just perfect. But l seem to be missing a passage during Balamb Gardens when it goes dramatically mixolydian out of the blue (just like in the intro of Aerith's theme). Perhaps this piano arrangement is different.

On the official soundtrack, Balamb Garden and Ami are all given their own versions. The game is probably like 70% file size dedicated to sound track. There is like 4 full discs worth of soundtrack.
I don't know which one is more beautiful: your piano playing or yourself.

FF8 was the best. Sometimes you want games to keep going on forever but this game was the best. Perfect ending to a great story. 10/10 Would play again in 10 years so I can forget everything.
Love it. Just a small comment at 3:18, Balamb Garden, in the original soundtrack there's a slight pause but seems like you rolled it into one.

BTW I see that you said you recorded this upon request. Could I request Final Fantasy 6's Forever Rachel? IMO Forever Rachel is the only song Uematsu has done that can compare to Aerith's theme for shear beauty. For a few years I didn't think Uematsu would ever top it, and then Final Fantasy 7 came out. lol Even today I could flip a coin and go with either or and be conflicted as to which is the prettier song.

Never my favourite game, but (with mods to replace the nasty MIDI tracks from the PC version) worth playing purely for its incredible soundtrack.

I like how you keep to the integrity of the OST's with your arrangements while giving them a touch of passion that the OST's are often devoid of (pre PS3/xbox360 era). Just wondering if you actually played and if not how you fell into recording gaming music. Thank you for giving me and the community these wonderful recordings!
Thank you Robert, I'm so glad you chanced upon my channel! I grew up playing video games because I had an older brother. He and I were close, and we would play old NES and SNES games together. I also loved the N64 console. I never got into Final Fantasy except for IX, but I watched my brother play several of them. Actually I did play FF1 as my first FF game, but I never completed it because I got stuck and my brother wouldn't help me XD I'll never forgive him for that haha! But the music from the games is also nostalgic for me, because of how much I watched my brother play. I won the FFXIV Heavensward music competition, and that's what started me recording more FF music. It's been a fun journey!
