My daughter found this tutorial. I am amazed to watch her make this baby star crochet blanket. You are an excellent teacher. Thank you so much. God bless you.
OMGosh! Thank you for making this so understandable and easy! I am NOT an advanced stitcher, but I am on my way to a cool star baby afghan in very little time. Thanks, Mikey!
Thanks Mikey! I had tried an online pattern that had a photo tutorial and it was a disaster! This video made it a snap to start the pattern and make a wonderful child's afghan!
Mikey thank you so much you are a great teacher. The best. I have finished my hunny pot hat and now I am working on my star blanket. I am unemployed and had so much scrap yarn to use for my neices blanke her baby is due in March, and I bnow can give her a beautiful I owe it all to you. Thank You so very much you are Blessing
Great video!!!! to those who say its too fast cause your new, just do like I do and pause it while you catch up! I making this in the NEW Patons Metallic yarn in blue and silver for my son!!!! THANK YOU
Mikey I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful tutorials you create. I recently took crocheting up after 20 years, I had a hard time reading patterns. that's why I stopped crocheting, I didn't have anyone to teach me, so I got frustrated and quit. Now that we have this wonderful thing called the internet (lol) I can watch you do the stitches and BAM it's like I knew how to do it all along. You are so special and so wonderful I just adore you! Happy Hooking!
Thank you Mikey, for combining this all into one video. Even though I have made MANY of these stars, when I go on Hiatus from crocheting I always have to come back and take a refresher course. This video is so much easier to follow then the series of videos you have for this same particular pattern. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
Hey there ....the written pattern for this star afghan is now available right on Mikey's website at the crochet crowd . com Enjoy.... Cathy@ the crochet crowd
This looks soooo hard but it's sooooo not! I just learned to crochet about 6 months ago, and I haven't had any trouble making this. The pattern is very forgiving! I've had to add or subtract a stitch here and there, but you can't tell! You're a great teacher!
I just wanted to thank you so much for this tutorial. I learned how to crochet a long time ago, but could never read a pattern. This tutorial enabled me to finally crochet somethign besides scarves and simple blankets. I made a few little mistakes along the way, but I am hoping no one will notice ;) all in all the project came out great. Thanks again. J.
HOLY COW - Thank you so much! I'd been trying to make a neat baby afghan that begins with a star, working off written instructions to build the star. The instructions had me completely bewildered for a good week; when I finally got it right I found that the star just really didn't come together correctly. This video makes it super logical, and I love that newbies (like me) can pause and work at their own pace. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Thanks!!!
Thank you, Mikey! This video is much easier to follow then your series of videos containing this same particular patters. Even though I have made MANY of these, when I go on hiatus from crocheting, I always have to come back and take a refresher course. Compiling your series into one video makes it so much easier! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
yes you can find the written instructions for the star afghan on the crochet crowd website the link to the website is right under the video above ....Cathy@ the crochet crowd
For the last 2 days i have been wanting to learn flowers and was able to grasp that within an hour. so just a few minutes ago i decided that i should learn stars (knowing that my 2 boys would not be happy with flowers... hee hee); within minutes i had it! I love the "power of 3" count, it makes it easy to do from memory!!! thank you so much :)
Thank you for making this so easy. Before I found your tutorial I was struggling for two days making and undoing the first five rounds of this blanket. After following your tutorial I got it the FIRST time and my blanket turned out beautiful.
thank you!! i made two stars and they were a little goofy looking so I tried a 3rd time and the star is much better looking. takes practice and watching the video several times. your teaching method is easy to follow. thank you :-)
I used this pattern to create my friends a Navy inspired afghan with an anchor applique in the center. They absolutely loved it. Thank you so very much!!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I bought a stripes yarn with red, white, and blue and I knew I wanted to use it for a center piece for the 4th of July. This Star is perfect for it and it came out so beautiful. The patterns for this were too confusing, as you mentioned, you made it so clear and simple. Thank you very much.
Thank you very much. You have taught me how to crochet. I am on my second granny square afghan, and I can't wait to try this one. You are a wonderful teacher and make learning a new skill lots of fun!
I've basically been a granny square crocheter, not adventurous but these videos really make me willing to at least try. It took several attempts at this but finally the light bulb went off and I "got" it. Once you get get to where you are doing 8 and up, that hidden stitch isn't so hidden and it gets very easy. I'm using a variegated cotton yarn, just trying to use up a leftover cone and I'm going to be very proud of this piece...hoping for a nice child's blanket.
I love this pattern! I’m a newby at crochet and I think Mikey’s instructions are excellent. He goes slow enough and explains everything very thoroughly. I’ve made about 6 of these in Christmas colors and gave as friendship gifts to my crafting friends. I made them about 15 to 28 inch diameter, a perfect size to set a tabletop Christmas tree on, a candle arrangement or a trio of sparkling angels. I would love to share a PIC!
No kidding. I ran across this one awhile ago and bookmarked the link, but upgraded my comp, and couldn't find it again. I was sweating never being able to find it again! Thank gawd for utube.... My daughter wants a pillow, I promised her, this one would be amazing.
What a great pattern. I am starting this tomorrow. I love Mikey's videos. I'm rather new to crocheting and his videos have helped me to learn several new stitches and patterns.
Thank sooooo so so so muuuuuch! I have been trying to crochet a baby blanket for a friend and it is waaaaaaaaay overdue. My friend had her son in September, but anyway, I was doing a typical straight, rectangular blanket and I think it's hideous but I could find anything appealing or easy to understand. YOU are a lifesaver, I can't wait to start this project!
Very well done video. I learned to crochet using videos from RUclips, so I am very much a beginner. Made lots of hats and scarves but this is the first blanket I've attempted. Your instructions are very easy to follow and I had no trouble starting this project. I will post a picture when it's finished. Thank you so much!!
thank you sooo much i figured it out the second time i watched it, you are a great teacher because you helped me to understand the pattern , i will post a picture on your facebook page when im done
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this tutorial. This star afghan is just so easy to make now!! I've decided that i'm going to make a few littler stars and turn them into dishcloths! I can't wait to start a blanket after im done with the dishcloths!
Just finished a place mat with this pattern, the video is made so well, everything was so clear; i did not mess up even once although it was easy to make mistakes with this project, and it grew so fast...just like it was mentioned in the video!!! I am more than excited, cannot wait to make many more projects using this pattern. Thanks for uploading :)
Thank YOU so much for this tutorial!! I have made several star baby blankets for shower gifts and they are always a big hit! I am dyslexic and I just can't follow a pattern to save my life. sigh.. Each time I want to make one I come back to your video to start. It's a fun project to make. I made a HUGE star out of purples for my niece's birthday. she loved it! I could never make this without your help! A big hug from Baltimore Md!!
I'm not 'overly skilled' when it comes to crocheting. Even though I've been doing it for years! I am just now trying to branch out and try new things. I have a hard time following a pattern so this video help tremendously!!! Thank you! Making one with white and shades of pink for a baby girl shower. :)
I usually start something and never finish but I was just browsing through crochet videos and I found this and let me say I love it! I decided to make one for my friend who is due in July but it works up so quick I have two that I'm working on!! Thank you for this turorial.

@mikessmail, thanks so much for this video.. I was fighting to read the instructions for a baby star afghan, and it didnt make sense.. after about 6 or 7 tries I gave up, and then found your video. Really simple, and even works for a lefty... south paws really need more instruction on crochet!
