It would be just awesome to know why creative filters are grayed out no matter what settings I seem to have the camera set on. No matter what I change it doesn't make a difference. Of course there's no guide to tell me this information.
Is this still a good camera for making films in 2023? Very entry level, and I would move up after some practice, but just trying to understand if it will perform the basic movie functions I would need.
It's not entry level at all! In fact, it retailed for $1,300 when it was released in 2013 and until the 80D and 90D was at the top of its class for crop sensor DSLRs. It still has the advantage over its successors of a max shutter speed double the others and a weather sealed body. Don't let the gear hype warp your brain. The quality of the images you take is about the quality of your eye and your skills behind the camera. I have tens of thousands of amazing professional-quality images taken with "entry level" DSLRS (Nikon D3100 and Canon EOS Rebel SL1) and wasn't limited by the camera whatsoever.
