Don't think I would have ever looked at the hydra and think to myself "this rare is filler, imma swap it for this 2/1 common", but that's the reason I don't win that many limited ; great content !
Same, every time him or Paul says, "this card is garbage or not good," it's a card I'm excited to pick😂
Really cool that the switch ended up being really significant in a following game
I have same experience with Hydra. I picked it up highly, played with it, and eventually swapped it with a different card since it’s way too slow before you feel the impact. Same thing with the 4cc bird that grows every time you draw.
Hydra is probably only good if you have 2+ Llanowar Elves, since playing it Turn 2 with a bunch of lands in hand makes it into a bomb.
The problem with hydra is that it's a 2 toughness creature (unless you play evolving wilds the turn you cast it), so it dies to stab and burst lightning. And doing that means you play it turn 4. Well whoop whoop, you just cast a 4/4 on turn 4. That's decent but still not great. And it's a lot of ifs
HE CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS!
I was looking at the pool and thinking...that's as good a pool as any. Planeswalker, card draw, ramp, value creatures. Cool to watch you pilot it to another two.
got my first box win today and I owe it all to watching you on here, you make me a much better limited player
Good job! I wasn't able to close it out but I'm hopeful next time with study.
I average about 4.5 wins in best of 1 limited, but I'm a poor who can't afford to farm gems enough to actually enter bc I spend most of my time farming dollars to stay alive.
It's tempting to gamble actual money on entry fees, I'm confident I could turn a long term profit. But so far I haven't spent a cent on Arena, ever.
One day I might enter an open. But statistically, I'd need to play a couple before I get any return.
Immediately being rewarded for swapping to Campus Guide has to feel good.
well done Master :). I have played it twice times, 1 lost and 1 I have managed to get 6 wins. I follow you since 6-7 years or so and I have improved a lot my limited deck constructions and gameplay by watching you and hearing your thoughts. I can say most of my morning I wake up while watching one of yours video on youtube and would feel good if one day I will be able to meet you in person :). GGWP
Double-striking cleric elephant made me unreasonably happy.
I don't think the pool is as bad as you say, at least you have some playable rares and the leyline axe is amazing in sealed imo
Set expectations low so you’re always amazed
One of the reasons why we love you Kenji. ;)
Would love to hear you verbalize your thought process in games more. It helps me learn a lot!
Im surprised nicolbolas managed to get 5 wins with whatever he was playing there
Before watching the gameplay my impression of the pool is that I would have definitely gone more into blue than you did. I would have absolutely splashed a few cards in black or even white depending on the flavor you choose but blue green splash looked good. The 3/4 prowess surveil 2 is a super solid card, especially with 3 bushwhacks. you had quite a good core of 2 drops and early plays in blue that synergized quite well. Unfortunately this pool was green heavy so we are automatically playing a weaker color, that being said I felt that was the most powerful option for this pool and could possibly make it to 6 wins.
wow tthis is one of my favorite decks you've made so far, deck churned like butter!
Me and a buddy of mine won this yesterday with a blue white with alot of flyers.. lost first match then went 6-0 somehow..lol so lucky but was awesome.. ty for all your content your the GOAT
The axe and boots on the chonker was a *chef's kiss* finish
Wish I could subscribe more than once; been subscribed for years now, can't wait for the 24hr stream!
Fun times. Well played. Glad you are finding success, as it is well deserved. Awesome content all around. Thanks.
Woo I was hoping for another box event video today, thanks for the content Kenji! Good luck on th 100k
Every draft is this pool sux, this deck sux, i cant win with this, proceeds to go 6 wins 50% of the time.
Man, 6 of 12, what the hell are you gonna do with 12(!!) boxes?
Kenji has said he plans to sell them to subscribers on his discord at a discount
Lots of comments saying that he was too critical of his pool, but when youre as good as Num, youre going to go further with an average pool, and face those lucky and insane decks more often, scewing your view of average deck quality.
I did this last night and clutched out the boxes. Also my first arena limited for foundations (I did an irl prerelease once)
Do you think you'll stream/show yourself opening the boxes you win? (if you plan to open them)
Mtg is a game of chance. Be careful folks
Agree! Watch your wallets and your mental health if you go deep in Arena.
Some of the time it’s like watching a slot machine, other times it feels like one of the most complex and rewarding games on earth.
Seems unless you can draft the nuts RB sac or UW flyers, good removal and late game value is just really strong
sitting through 10 minutes of negativity during deckbuilding to watch another another 20min before realizing this pool wasnt so bad and youre definitely selling green short, gz on the boxes C:
Tuber doing my Tube-ly duties.
Love ya work!
How many games did your opponent play a Llanowar Elves?
Skipping on the Vampire Gourmand/Mischievous Mystic combo?
well, it was no 35 minute speedrun but....nice!
Just did a very bad Izzit deck but somehow went 7-2!
I wonder if at any point they will send you an email like, eh dood, leave some for ther rest XDDDDDD
I tried my hand last night and went 3-2 it was fun though
Campus guide!!!
Nummy, i know hiro needs to eat but you really need to explore different ad options. Almost every match has a double ad plus others sometimes mid match. Thank you.
First! Earliest I have ever been. The luck. Hope this ends up a win.
Same
Regrower should be attacking at 24:10
that attack looks bad to me. trading a 5/4 elf for either their 2/3 lifelink or 3/3 flier.
They dont have flyer in play at this point its 23:46
It trades for felidar and 2/2 elf and opens attacks for menace rare
Hes also wayyy ahead on life and should be trying to force a race
@@bluejene2146 lol he's not way ahead on life, it's 20 to 17. they are far from racing. his regrower is holding back all of op's attackers plus if he traded it away he probably wouldn't have won (not that he'd know he would draw axe)
Lol no.. he has a food so its 17 to 23, AND his priority. So after taking an attack for 5, its 12 to 23. Thats a huge difference and would force opponent to play differently. Opponent doesnt want to trade off their lifelinker and elf bear...
he wins this game even if they make this trade..@@TheWormwoodScrubs
Ifopponent makes the trade the remaining boardstate is 1/1 elf vs lathril rare that spawns elves with no cards in op hand and numot has 2 (land)
@@TheWormwoodScrubs its very clearly an attack when youre ahead with a value engine you need to force that trade so the engine can start getting value. Opponent cant block and cant attack back or they just lose without insane topdecks.
#Warchitect
Homunculus and tatyova splash lathril and playing everything else UG stop complaining all the time gettin real anoying
Boooooooo
