Imagine your dying game has only one quality about it why people would be at least mildly interested to play your game, which is the skillbased action combat, and you decide to entirely remove any last bit of skill expression out of it to basically turn it into a bad Tab Target game. We all knew AGS is a trash studio for a long time now, but man do they still somehow manage to surprise everybody with how shit they are.
100%. Most people that have played New World really enjoy the combat, and I believe it's the ONLY reason why New World has 3k concurrent players currently. Had it not been for the excellent PVP combat, I don't think anybody would still be playing the game at all. So to see them destroy one of the only things that made the game good just blows me away.

Target lock and tab target are two different things my friend, otherwise we should call tab target also the souls and Elden ring and it would be quite ridiculous to do so don't you think? That being said I agree that target lock should be removed in PvP
Target lock is fine for casual players. But target switch or movement or whatever it is, it has to be removed. If not, dodging makes no sense anymore. But we all know AGS 😊 they can make things worse even it means to eliminate the best part of this game: skill based Action combat😢

I don’t see how target lock is the thing that’s saving new world. Cross play, new player experience revamp, population, and stuff like that is. I play with a lot of people who use controller including atlas mentioned in this video and they do just fine. But as Duke said, I’m hoping the player lock is toned down :)

Another disadvantage to note is more situational but is that sometimes you can lose sight from the enemies, specially with trees and bushes and this is just like a wallhack as well, or if you're hidden to heal, they just insta lock on you... such a dumb feature to have in any game.

I hate this whole aim lock as much as the next person, but saying that it wouldn't benefit the health of the game is a bit of an interesting take. After all, the numbers don't lie, and the game isn't really played by that many people anymore. Trying to bridge the gap and get more casuals in seems to be the whole purpose of this Aternum "re-release". So having a full-on aim lock kind of makes sense if you look it from that point of view.
I'm shocked people are surprised. AGS ruins things at every chance they get. Upper management do everything possible to ruin their own game, not the actual people working on the game. I'm sure they'll get a big bonus too.
Rapier was BUSTED strong in the beta, I wish I had recorded some clips. I ran Rapier/IG light and I could literally trade with heavy melee and win easily. Full offensive (Flurry/Flourish & Finish/Fleche) was near unbeatable. You have grit abilities that stagger the enemy, and with the dodge/stamina lock (bug?) you could just mow enemies down. Flourish & Finish actually becomes both a finisher ability AND a movement ability, it just warps you around. Needs to be tuned down quite a bit before release. I was able to get 10+ kills multiple times in arena, I could even 3v1 with offensive rapier, it was silly.
At first I was thinking about giving New World Aeternum a chance, afterall the game does have a lot of good things going on. But with that aim lock...that is a hard nope for me
@@xbotLife That's fine The Attitute of alot of PvEers is what is my issue. New World was supposed to be a full PvP game, PvEers came in during playtests complained and it got changed to optin PvP Wich led to alot of Systems that where planned around the open PvP to get scrapped. Now the same Players that complained have the audacity to tell PvPers to play another game if they don't like it. The right thing to do would be even if you yourself don't care to tell ASG hey Aimlock has to go in PvP instead of saying "I don't care kill it"

One time in Arena I used Leaping Strike locked on a low target, they died and it snapped onto an enemy 2m+ to the left of me AND HIT HIM, no way that would have been possible with inputs.
The clip you showed from the 3v3 is wild and shouldn't be happening but from playing the Beta I've def missed a couple shots relying on the aimlock so long as the target is moving
It depends on the weapon. Hit scan weapons like blunderbuss just don't miss. Musket isn't hit scan but the projectile speed is very fast so you still hit most of the time. Bow will hit less often.
Yeah like I said, with Bow and Musket at longer ranges you definitely still miss shots because aimlock doesn't lead. Basically the closer the target is, the worse the impact of aimlock, particularly on melee weapons and BB!
@KnockOut101inc elder ring pvp is nothing close to new world combat. New world combat is wayyyy harder and better too. Just go and look at eidorian playing bow and you will see the combat.
What I don't understand is how the devs just don't see these things themselves ? Or perhaps they're totally satisfied with this mechanic ? That's even more concerning to me
A more soft lock system would be much better. I will miss the days of doing 360 jumpshots and shooting sns guys out of the air when the bow got its first major buff.

If they're going down this route definitely they NEED to provide MORE abilities and skills to each class, and gear. More specifically defensive cooldowns. Take WoW for example, it is a tab target game and basically has aim lock as well, but it's the defensive cooldowns that help separate and mitigate these issues.
The controller also has a larger hitbox than M&K with range weapons like the bow. If I shoot just past the opponent with the mouse, the shot misses and with the controller it hits in the same position
That was my original point in my last video. But close range and melee effectively benefits from aimlock more than ranged does, since it's near impossible to miss abilities at close range, no matter how hard the enemy jukes.
That kinda makes the game all about skill rotations more than targeting, which can be good, if everything was like balanced lol, but some skills are very deadly if they are always going to hit 100% of the time
Second hand info but I saw on reddit that apparently AGS are "aware" of the feedback on this but also the stagger issue you mentioned. I'm not even sure that stagger thing is intended? The problem with the beta launch is there were no patch notes published, so who knows? I seriously doubt the game will launch with this lock for PVP. I'm sorry but not even competitive console FPS games have this feature and they, at best, have aim assist and as much as we all love to think NW's combat is super twitchy and skillful, it's nothing like FPS games when it comes to the demands of aiming. The negative reaction is warranted. I seriously doubt AGS will ignore it. There's been almost no positive support for it (except the odd one and I'm 80% sure they're just PC players who love using it anyway). And it is absolutely true that the lock makes melee so unbelievably oppressive now. It already had some auto aim! And there are no actual downsides, when you get used to using it. I tried it a lot and sure... it gimps your movement if you stay locked all the time. But the key that locks on is a toggle. You just get used to toggling it off when you need to, it's trivial muscle memory.
If this level of target lock ends up staying post launch, Mjolnir might be ridiculous. Never miss a mighty gavel. Combine with maybe sword and shield for small scale pvp for a gap closer and more cc
Damn that target lock kills the best part of the game. I played the beta on my console and played just fine with out it it's not needed at all. The biggest problem with new world was the lack of end game content now the game plays for you as well.
Target lock has no reason to exist in NW. Hell, not even in PvE. Its dumbing down the game too much. They upgraded so much only to murder it with this choice. Literally the only good thing in NW is being broken down to smooth brain left click lvls. People in FPS games usually use cheats like aimbots because they can completely focus on movement while the program does the aiming. Target lock is Aimbot. Aim assist is something different
You know what I would like to know? Who SPECIFICALLY had the idea to target lock. Like, I know a lot of people probably protested as the idea was first being thrown out, but who thought this would be a good idea? I would love to talk to that person, man. And not even in a "I'd beat them up" kind of way, just to understand what goes on in their mind. This is THE stupidest decision I've ever seen in any game ever. It makes me question everything, I don't understand how someone can make such a decision.
I like the target locks and it makes the ranged weapons viable for me in pve, I always wanted to run just musket but found the aiming system really janky so didn’t enjoy it. I don’t think they will change it so will need to reduce the damage or something in pvp idk
As a console player i can say without a doubt that lock on needs to go in pvp. Im new to NW and was rocking hatchet and bow in the beta. I can confidently say that the aim assist is more than sufficient for ranged in pvp. I never used lock once and had no issue hitting my bow shots. If anything the AA could be dialed back just a bit. I have a heavy background in souls games so the PVP felt very natural to me. There is target lock in souls games as well but not to this ridiculous degree. Ranged attacks can easily miss in those games. I had a freaking blast in the beta and would hate to see this muddy a second chance for NW. I want this game to have a large community again bc i fully intend on playing it at launch.

@@DblTapSlapMcGap AGS has a history of not taking feedback into consideration when countless bugs/issues have come up in their test realms, weeks before the updates were released on their regular servers. Very few issues that were reported were fixed by the time the updates came out if any were fixed at all. I would assume they will ignore most of the feedback on this and do whatever they were planning to do in the first place. Hopefully, DukeSloth is right that they were just using target locking to make aim assist not look so bad.
yeah i was gunna get this because i liked the ACTION COMBAT back when i played it before, but now its just tab target. if i wanted a tab target game id play some WoW ...
I was planning to come back after 2 years but not anymore. 1vX pvp will be basically impossible. All skill is removed and if 2 or more people lock onto you with a ranged weapon then I dont see how you could possibly win
i agree, if they could just make it aim assist and not target lock i think that would be fine. a weak aim assist for controller players is expected to stay competitive with mouse an keyboard. as it is though it feels terrible, takes so much of the skill out of the game.
I believe many people aware of that CoD is also controller FPS game. The reason for that is of course aim assist (Not aim lock). And they earn quite a lot money from that. That game has huge amount of controller players. I understand if they also want to make New World a controller game. Aim assist is a "must" for controller players. Otherwise, they will not have fun at all. However, aim lock & target switch is another level. That thing takes away the best feature of this game. The only thing that makes this MMO different than others: SKILL BASED COMBAT. Aim lock & target switch is basically TAB targeting and many MMOs are like that already. But they are not as fun as this game. I believe everyone would agree with that. Considering many people quit the game even when it has the best combat system, what do you think is gonna happen if you take it away? Especially PvP oriented players will not be happy about that. We all wanted more PvP content, less bugs. I believe 80% of the players quit the game because of this. Why do you want to introduce something like this? They could also say that "hey, we have aim assist (in fact it is aim lock), but we are going to do some adjustment in the future. They don't even say that because they want to sell the game to more console players. CoD is an old FPS game. They also did adjustments with aim assist. I only hope they would do the same in the future. I am pretty sure noone would be upset because of aim assist. But everyone would be upset because of target lock & switch.
The game is finished. I knew they would not be able to hold back once they talked about adding aim assist. New World pvp was special and at least to me interesting, because of the aiming/skillshot requirement.... as soon as they talked about aim assist I lost all interest in ever going back and giving NW another chance. It's dead to me unless they somehow wake up and completely remove aim assist from PVP as they initially had promised (a promise I knew they'd break, but I was hoping they wouldn't...)

It shouldn't be target lock; it should be aim assist like in Halo or COD. The reticle should have a slight magnetism towards enemies, not a full lock-on like an aimbot. It feels like Amazon is trying to kill New World.

Why did I move from ESO to NW? Because of the tactical combat. And now they will implement aim assist? Why kill exactly what is fun in NW? Why they just don't rename it to AFK-New World. The game plays alone while you're on the work.
I don't think most of the PC players are against some form of aim assist. This current form of target lock is essentially an aim bot. There are a significant number of posts on the discord forum requesting the target lock be removed and there are a few rather vocal pro target lock players arguing for keeping the system. I think aim assist is fine, but the current implementation will absolutely destroy pvp.
I really think these changes are good and we are missing the point hyper focusing in "how my skills will matter less". The point here is changing the game for console/controlers... It will be better just accept that as a fact...

Aim assist is good until long range and then you need to cancel it and lead shots. Or if there is mass lag even at medium range and have had happen point blank target lock makes you miss every attack. During the beta I’ve had target lock point blank but flame thrower didn’t connect on single time with a dude doing a circle around me due to lag.

It can be good when there is zero lag and close to medium range. But new world pvp with mass people has and always will have lag with medium range to long range and a strafing target. Good luck lol!
Its the other way. Range has an advantage because all pvp matches start at a distance. The only time melee is at advantage is when you are attacking someone that is not paying attention.
Auto-lock has no place in skill-based combat. You know, there's something to be said about that moment during pvp or a duel when you swing... and miss. You know you've got improvements to make. You know there are things you can learn and practice. Auto-aim kills all of this.
So they making sure ppl with no skill have a change to kill someone with skill and enjoy the game as much? The pvp is in this game does have a big skill gap and the devs want NEW players to join and stay I think this is a way for them to keep them in the game.
i just want to ask why do we need aim assist in a action combat mmo? especially in pvp i doubt i can refund the game but i am certain i didnt buy a tab target game. In efforts to assist the more casual players they have essentially implemented a built in aimbot. AGS has to be trolling...right?! Literally, they are the worst devs in existence at this point... This will end up killing the game even faster. Discord will be full of threads of angry people asking for a revert, AGS will consider it, watch player counts fall to abysmal levels, then realize, wait, we should probably fix this, by then it will be too late...history repeats itself. Tried to warn you people...
to me the copium i have over this; is the fact that the beta on here was the first time that they did pc and console. so they would have no idea how it will workout until this beta. The hope that they are actually willing to work on the issues they do see (just remove lockon in general from pvp) and all these issues are fixed.

SnS was almost already doing this in the live game bc tracking was so strong. The game has been absolutely destroyed since s5 combat code release. Instead of realizing their mistakes they’re doubling down on just making it worse.
Does it surprise you? They somehow made this fun action combat years ago by accident, and the current dev team has no idea how to improve upon it or expand it. I am pretty sure that is why they will never make a new OPR map again. It's like the lead PVP vanished and you have these amatuers running everything. Remember how dev Katy said most of their players don't PVP? The entire dev team considers it irrelevant. They want to sell the level 1-20 single experience to console players, get their cash, then dump the game and focus on LOTRO. New World is reborn just to die all over again.
Thinking that AGS will listen to feedback and re tune this is kinda a joke. It's almost 99.99% the build for Oct. AGS lied when they said there wouldn't be aim assist in PVP. Just like they've lied about a ton of other things. It's so crazy to me how this cash grab of a relaunch is going to reward these devs / management team. I really didn't want to see a redemption arc for a group that screwed us over as bad as they did.
I was 100% ok with aim assist for console, but aim lock for PVE and PVP is stupid as heck. Was kinda looking forward to starting a new character. Might still but will just leave it off if possible, won't do any PVP.

It just seems like this was lazily put in becuase for whatever reason whether its the time itll take how hard it is to do etc, they wont do a standard aim assist for controllers. Because it doesnt make sense adding this for anyone, for controller users yeah its easier but also makes combat extremely one note and boring and anyone not abusing it gets put at a disadvantage.
Seems bad, but everyone has access to it. Skilled players are still going to easily beat aimlock players simply because aimlock is locked at center mass. My take is to let it be and adjust from there, like slowing the target switch.
Valorant on console has aim slowdown not aim assist. It works. They don’t have to go nuclear on this game to balance it out. They are ruining the combat COMPLETELY

One time in Arena I used Leaping Strike locked on a low target, they died and it snapped onto an enemy 2m+ to the left of me AND HIT HIM, no way that would have been possible with inputs.
The clip you showed from the 3v3 is wild and shouldn't be happening but from playing the Beta I've def missed a couple shots relying on the aimlock so long as the target is moving
It depends on the weapon. Hit scan weapons like blunderbuss just don't miss. Musket isn't hit scan but the projectile speed is very fast so you still hit most of the time. Bow will hit less often.
Yeah like I said, with Bow and Musket at longer ranges you definitely still miss shots because aimlock doesn't lead. Basically the closer the target is, the worse the impact of aimlock, particularly on melee weapons and BB!

@KnockOut101inc elder ring pvp is nothing close to new world combat. New world combat is wayyyy harder and better too. Just go and look at eidorian playing bow and you will see the combat.

A more soft lock system would be much better. I will miss the days of doing 360 jumpshots and shooting sns guys out of the air when the bow got its first major buff.
I don’t know many ARPG’s that have tab-target mechanics, except solo-play games.

Amazon is done with the pc players. They are focusing on their new audience, which are the console players.

If they're going down this route definitely they NEED to provide MORE abilities and skills to each class, and gear. More specifically defensive cooldowns. Take WoW for example, it is a tab target game and basically has aim lock as well, but it's the defensive cooldowns that help separate and mitigate these issues.

The controller also has a larger hitbox than M&K with range weapons like the bow. If I shoot just past the opponent with the mouse, the shot misses and with the controller it hits in the same position
I would have no issue with target locking if they only kept it for PVE and it didn't work in PVP
Melee has improved stagger effects countering ranged auto lock. The emphasis is staggers and dodge, avoid not doing damage.
That was my original point in my last video. But close range and melee effectively benefits from aimlock more than ranged does, since it's near impossible to miss abilities at close range, no matter how hard the enemy jukes.
That kinda makes the game all about skill rotations more than targeting, which can be good, if everything was like balanced lol, but some skills are very deadly if they are always going to hit 100% of the time

Second hand info but I saw on reddit that apparently AGS are "aware" of the feedback on this but also the stagger issue you mentioned. I'm not even sure that stagger thing is intended?
The problem with the beta launch is there were no patch notes published, so who knows?
I seriously doubt the game will launch with this lock for PVP. I'm sorry but not even competitive console FPS games have this feature and they, at best, have aim assist and as much as we all love to think NW's combat is super twitchy and skillful, it's nothing like FPS games when it comes to the demands of aiming. The negative reaction is warranted. I seriously doubt AGS will ignore it. There's been almost no positive support for it (except the odd one and I'm 80% sure they're just PC players who love using it anyway).
And it is absolutely true that the lock makes melee so unbelievably oppressive now. It already had some auto aim!
And there are no actual downsides, when you get used to using it. I tried it a lot and sure... it gimps your movement if you stay locked all the time. But the key that locks on is a toggle. You just get used to toggling it off when you need to, it's trivial muscle memory.
The one thing you can count on with AGS is that they can always manage to make things worse.
If this level of target lock ends up staying post launch, Mjolnir might be ridiculous. Never miss a mighty gavel. Combine with maybe sword and shield for small scale pvp for a gap closer and more cc
Damn that target lock kills the best part of the game. I played the beta on my console and played just fine with out it it's not needed at all. The biggest problem with new world was the lack of end game content now the game plays for you as well.
Target lock has no reason to exist in NW. Hell, not even in PvE. Its dumbing down the game too much.
They upgraded so much only to murder it with this choice.
Literally the only good thing in NW is being broken down to smooth brain left click lvls.
People in FPS games usually use cheats like aimbots because they can completely focus on movement while the program does the aiming. Target lock is Aimbot. Aim assist is something different
I saw it too in the beta, it looked like target lock is really broken, making weapons like blunderbuss far more lethal. Thumbs up.
You know what I would like to know? Who SPECIFICALLY had the idea to target lock. Like, I know a lot of people probably protested as the idea was first being thrown out, but who thought this would be a good idea? I would love to talk to that person, man. And not even in a "I'd beat them up" kind of way, just to understand what goes on in their mind. This is THE stupidest decision I've ever seen in any game ever. It makes me question everything, I don't understand how someone can make such a decision.

I like the target locks and it makes the ranged weapons viable for me in pve, I always wanted to run just musket but found the aiming system really janky so didn’t enjoy it.
I don’t think they will change it so will need to reduce the damage or something in pvp idk

As a console player i can say without a doubt that lock on needs to go in pvp. Im new to NW and was rocking hatchet and bow in the beta. I can confidently say that the aim assist is more than sufficient for ranged in pvp. I never used lock once and had no issue hitting my bow shots. If anything the AA could be dialed back just a bit. I have a heavy background in souls games so the PVP felt very natural to me. There is target lock in souls games as well but not to this ridiculous degree. Ranged attacks can easily miss in those games. I had a freaking blast in the beta and would hate to see this muddy a second chance for NW. I want this game to have a large community again bc i fully intend on playing it at launch.

@@DblTapSlapMcGap AGS has a history of not taking feedback into consideration when countless bugs/issues have come up in their test realms, weeks before the updates were released on their regular servers. Very few issues that were reported were fixed by the time the updates came out if any were fixed at all. I would assume they will ignore most of the feedback on this and do whatever they were planning to do in the first place. Hopefully, DukeSloth is right that they were just using target locking to make aim assist not look so bad.

I was planning to come back after 2 years but not anymore. 1vX pvp will be basically impossible. All skill is removed and if 2 or more people lock onto you with a ranged weapon then I dont see how you could possibly win
i agree, if they could just make it aim assist and not target lock i think that would be fine. a weak aim assist for controller players is expected to stay competitive with mouse an keyboard. as it is though it feels terrible, takes so much of the skill out of the game.

I believe many people aware of that CoD is also controller FPS game. The reason for that is of course aim assist (Not aim lock). And they earn quite a lot money from that. That game has huge amount of controller players. I understand if they also want to make New World a controller game. Aim assist is a "must" for controller players. Otherwise, they will not have fun at all. However, aim lock & target switch is another level. That thing takes away the best feature of this game. The only thing that makes this MMO different than others: SKILL BASED COMBAT. Aim lock & target switch is basically TAB targeting and many MMOs are like that already. But they are not as fun as this game. I believe everyone would agree with that. Considering many people quit the game even when it has the best combat system, what do you think is gonna happen if you take it away? Especially PvP oriented players will not be happy about that.
We all wanted more PvP content, less bugs. I believe 80% of the players quit the game because of this. Why do you want to introduce something like this? They could also say that "hey, we have aim assist (in fact it is aim lock), but we are going to do some adjustment in the future. They don't even say that because they want to sell the game to more console players. CoD is an old FPS game. They also did adjustments with aim assist. I only hope they would do the same in the future. I am pretty sure noone would be upset because of aim assist. But everyone would be upset because of target lock & switch.
The game is finished. I knew they would not be able to hold back once they talked about adding aim assist.
New World pvp was special and at least to me interesting, because of the aiming/skillshot requirement.... as soon as they talked about aim assist I lost all interest in ever going back and giving NW another chance. It's dead to me unless they somehow wake up and completely remove aim assist from PVP as they initially had promised (a promise I knew they'd break, but I was hoping they wouldn't...)
They don't care about the PC players. This is meant to now be a casual, action RPG where PVP is an afterthought. It's over guys; time to move on.

It shouldn't be target lock; it should be aim assist like in Halo or COD. The reticle should have a slight magnetism towards enemies, not a full lock-on like an aimbot. It feels like Amazon is trying to kill New World.
Yup I’m happy they did this just proves my point they don’t play the game they don’t care about the community the people that stuck around always said nw combat was the only reason they stick around. Now I haven one less game to worry about to many good games out. Why did I move from ESO to NW? Because of the tactical combat. And now they will implement aim assist? Why kill exactly what is fun in NW? Why they just don't rename it to AFK-New World. The game plays alone while you're on the work.

I don't think most of the PC players are against some form of aim assist. This current form of target lock is essentially an aim bot. There are a significant number of posts on the discord forum requesting the target lock be removed and there are a few rather vocal pro target lock players arguing for keeping the system. I think aim assist is fine, but the current implementation will absolutely destroy pvp.
I really think these changes are good and we are missing the point hyper focusing in "how my skills will matter less".
The point here is changing the game for console/controlers... It will be better just accept that as a fact...

Aim assist is good until long range and then you need to cancel it and lead shots. Or if there is mass lag even at medium range and have had happen point blank target lock makes you miss every attack. During the beta I’ve had target lock point blank but flame thrower didn’t connect on single time with a dude doing a circle around me due to lag.
@@KnockOut101inc facts like yes target lock can be great, especially for new and casual players but to say it’s broke because a literal new player with a bow didn’t even attempt to kite and honestly has probably never done pvp in his life based on what he was doing bs a streamer and lost is crazy to me. It can be good when there is zero lag and close to medium range. But new world pvp with mass people has and always will have lag with medium range to long range and a strafing target. Good luck lol!

Range attack should stagger/slow as well on AA in my opinion, melle has way to big advantage on 1 v 1 play.

Its the other way. Range has an advantage because all pvp matches start at a distance. The only time melee is at advantage is when you are attacking someone that is not paying attention.
Auto-lock has no place in skill-based combat. You know, there's something to be said about that moment during pvp or a duel when you swing... and miss. You know you've got improvements to make. You know there are things you can learn and practice. Auto-aim kills all of this.
So they making sure ppl with no skill have a change to kill someone with skill and enjoy the game as much? The pvp is in this game does have a big skill gap and the devs want NEW players to join and stay I think this is a way for them to keep them in the game.

i just want to ask why do we need aim assist in a action combat mmo? especially in pvp i doubt i can refund the game but i am certain i didnt buy a tab target game. Also the gear score increase is pointless prove me wrong if i mistaken but it prevents older ppl to return and annoys the ppl who already got their gear the only ones AGS are appealing those wierd ppl who want to be on the same level gearwise as the vets.
In efforts to assist the more casual players they have essentially implemented a built in aimbot. AGS has to be trolling...right?!

This will end up killing the game even faster. Discord will be full of threads of angry people asking for a revert, AGS will consider it, watch player counts fall to abysmal levels, then realize, wait, we should probably fix this, by then it will be too late...history repeats itself.

to me the copium i have over this; is the fact that the beta on here was the first time that they did pc and console. so they would have no idea how it will workout until this beta. The hope that they are actually willing to work on the issues they do see (just remove lockon in general from pvp) and all these issues are fixed.

SnS was almost already doing this in the live game bc tracking was so strong. The game has been absolutely destroyed since s5 combat code release. Instead of realizing their mistakes they’re doubling down on just making it worse.

Does it surprise you? They somehow made this fun action combat years ago by accident, and the current dev team has no idea how to improve upon it or expand it. I am pretty sure that is why they will never make a new OPR map again. It's like the lead PVP vanished and you have these amatuers running everything. Remember how dev Katy said most of their players don't PVP? The entire dev team considers it irrelevant. They want to sell the level 1-20 single experience to console players, get their cash, then dump the game and focus on LOTRO. New World is reborn just to die all over again.
Thinking that AGS will listen to feedback and re tune this is kinda a joke. It's almost 99.99% the build for Oct. AGS lied when they said there wouldn't be aim assist in PVP. Just like they've lied about a ton of other things.
It's so crazy to me how this cash grab of a relaunch is going to reward these devs / management team. I really didn't want to see a redemption arc for a group that screwed us over as bad as they did.

I was 100% ok with aim assist for console, but aim lock for PVE and PVP is stupid as heck. Was kinda looking forward to starting a new character. Might still but will just leave it off if possible, won't do any PVP.

It just seems like this was lazily put in becuase for whatever reason whether its the time itll take how hard it is to do etc, they wont do a standard aim assist for controllers. Because it doesnt make sense adding this for anyone, for controller users yeah its easier but also makes combat extremely one note and boring and anyone not abusing it gets put at a disadvantage.
Seems bad, but everyone has access to it. Skilled players are still going to easily beat aimlock players simply because aimlock is locked at center mass. My take is to let it be and adjust from there, like slowing the target switch.
Valorant on console has aim slowdown not aim assist. It works. They don’t have to go nuclear on this game to balance it out. They are ruining the combat COMPLETELY
I doubt they care about the 2-3k pc players left playing NW.
They just want console bois to have a good time.
