Here we are...the end.
Note: Part of this is used for the Skyhook battle at the end of the game. Видеоклипы
This soundtrack is so good it deserves to be heard in a movie. It’s a shame it never happened in the late 80s or early 90s
When I was reading the book, I had the music playing in the background:)
I hope that this game will never be forgotten
It all belongs to the maker. None of it will be forgotten.
"It belongs in a museum!!!"
@@alphareano1002 .. So does the enemy of mankind.
"The Empire is attacking Xizor's base AND us!" ~Luke Skywalker
even if in the book says the empire only attacked xisor forces not the rebels
Remember, this was released two and a half years before The Phantom Menace gave us "Duel of the Fates". Let that sink in if you will!
I played this game back in '96 religiously for a full year and to this day this is my favorite track of ALL the Star Wars music. Duel of Fates ain't got nothing on this!
Wampa stompa
I'll disagree on the Duel of Fates bit but agreed, this is SUCH an underrated piece of Star Wars music. :[
Why hasn't it?
5:37 is the part that's played in the game's last mission, Skyhook Battle
+Marksman230591 mmmhmm
+Marksman230591 aside from Mario 64...this was literally my second N64 game I ever played :)
Its a classic...and I still own a copy :)
4:41 As the PC Version.
@K. Gábor Not surprising lol.
Absolutely incredible fanfare at the end - my favourite finale Star Wars music after Empire Strikes Back! I wish someone would make a decent fanfilm and use this music at the end. (or any track from SOTE for that matter)
That ending, wow!
Fuck yeah I always loved the music from the last huge space battle in this.
Epic. Just epic. When it really get 'riled up' around 7 minutes, it's just incredible.
At 2:34 is where Lando tossed that thermal detonator down the disposal chute lol.
Best Album based on a book. (and a game, but originally for the book) So tasteful....and its different from our john williams.
Slightly but still very awesome indeed.
Wouldn't a full length animated film based on this be great. I'm sure Carrie and Mark could lend their voices.
+Messylin Except there's no demand for it, so your comment is pointless.
+Kael The Invoker I have demand for it, so now your comment is pointless.
+Kael The Invoker People always watch any new animated series that comes out because it's Star Wars. They could make an animated movie and people would flock to it. Even the people who didn't read the books have fond memories of the game.
Carrie died...Unfortunately :/
Messylin Well have I got some bad news for you..
Back when Star Wars was Star Wars
I really miss it, love the eu so much.
5:36 onwards is the skyhook battle theme used in the game.
The lyrics sung by the chorus are taken from an "ancient poem" written by "Coruscant's original inhabitants", called "Dha Werda Verda", recounting their battle with the Taungs. "Booten wooten lanlock vootem. Al a sinkee dunken pooten. Achta werda verda roll. Poonka dunkee loten cho" etc.
Imagine this dogfight in a movie. The rebels are battling the Black Sun Navy. Getting working.....then all the sudden the empire appears.....and starts blasting Black Sun. This would be the best dogfight ever. The game already makes it feel that way
I love the music at 9:05
woaaaaaaaaaa this is so awesome!!!!!!!!!... star wars music will always kick asses
Another reason why I'll always take the EU over canon is music like this.
The lyrics in this piece are from the fictional epic poem Dha Werda Verda, which recounts the apocalyptic battle between the Taung and the Battalions of Zhell on ancient Coruscant (then known as Notron). The Taung were victorious thanks to the eruption of a volcano and wrote the poem to immortalize the events. This poem eventually became a war chant, and both the Taung and the language in which the poem was written were changed into what would eventually become known as Mandalorian. It's important to note the Taung were not human; much like the Sith, they began as a specific race that eventually broadened to include many different races. Every human we've seen wearing any form of Mandalorian armor isn't a biological descendant, but a cultural one.
Which is why I still consider Jango and Boba to be Mandalorians, despite what Lucas says.
Reading this really sparked the love of Star Wars again in my heart, thanks for reminding me of why I thought it was cool once.
another change that episode 2 brought was the loss of Boba Fett's alleged twin brother, the Imperial officer who was captured on cloud city when Lando rescued Leia (who of course happened to be played by Boba Fett's actor in the original trilogy...)
WOW, the last part of this song is superb!
it's actually not done for the game, although few tracks were altered to be used in the game. The soundtrack was done for the novel Shadows of the Empire, to get the full defined story of Shadows, you gotta read the novel, the comics, and play the game.
I remember hearing this in the last level with the Skyhook and it certainly achieved it's job of keeping me on edge.
I loved the video game. I don't know how often I played it. This Song was my favorite. It's so damn epic. I loved the comic. And... oh my god... I loved the book. If you're a Star Wars fan and you didn't read the book... Do it! Do it now! 😃😮
05:37 - SO MUCH NOSTALGIA!!!
It's a musicgasm!
SOTE soundtrack is one the best in the SW universe. It's everything you want.
yeah. Xizor was finally beaten, and, the way i see it, would rather die that admit defeat to his archnemesis.
i love this soundtrack it`s really amazing , all the diferent colors of themes in special xixor`s theme
i played this music four years ago here in mexico and is very hard for all the musicians to play all the parts of the suite thanks for uploading :)
greetings from mexico
Amazing
2:01 - 3:02 Special thanks to " The Quest" by William Walton
3:55 - 4:45 Special Thanks to "Daphnis and Chloe" by Maurice Ravel
5:37 - 6:06 Special Thanks to " Belshazzar's Feast" by William Walton
I was listening through Daphnis and Chloe with my friend today and in the middle of the concert something caught my attention. I knew I was familiar with what was going on, but couldn't figure it out initially. After some time it hit me - Shadows of the Empire!

And at the end, Mahler symphony 2 movement 5, even the third symphony maybe
McNeely's versions are more palatable.
Always better than composers copying Pirates of the caribbean as reference. :/
Well, John Williams "cited" Erich Korngold for Star Wars, so it only seems right that McNeely trying to emulate Williams would also "cite" other composers. ;)
this sounds and feels so close to Episode I OST that it must not be just coincidence
For those looking for the part used in the final mission of the Shadows of the Empire video game, please refer to 5:37
I love the part around 8:10 where it sounds very much like Prokofiev's Battle on the Ice from Alexander Nevsky. Neat stuff.
7:29 Imperial March 😏😏
An unbelieveable accurate composition. Master Class.! I adore this record.!
They should make a movie of this SOTE
Lunacy for Dinsey to completely disregard the proper expanded universe. So many exceptional writers completely ignored in favour of absolute rubbish.
Thanks for uploading, I haven't been able to listen to this for so many years because its hard to find.
7:29 - 8:23
A unique rendition of the Imperial March. Broken into bits and somewhat short.
I hope Disney makes a movie from this or at least animated. The book was real good and I believe it is canon.
+Jeenkz K They can't make a live action movie, the actors are too old, they should have done that in 1997...
or Battlefront's DLC videogame
they could use the cast from Solo
It's cannon. I believe they actually did make the movie but then Geoge went insane and became obsessed with CGI and burned the film. Haha
Jeenkz K if you think it’s canon, then let it be. It’s not the company that forces it if it’s canon or not.
this is what "duel of the fates" tried to be.
really?
+Richard Wells I was thinking the sorta the same thing
The similarities were striking when the episode 1 soundtrack first dropped
Wrong! Duel of the fates borrows it's cues from the ritualistic chants from Temple of Doom after the first heart victim is lowered in to the fire.
Duel of the Fates wasn't trying to be this though...
Excelente soundtrack para una magnífica historia dentro del universo legendario star wars...
1:08, this reminds me of Sergei Prokofiev's Battle on the Ice. Splendid!
thanks for uploading this! I loved this game! The book is one of my favorite SW books! the comics are good too, and so is the sequel comic! Ive been trying to find this soundtrack, but im too cheap to pay for it!
I could have sworn there was another song played during the Skyhook Battle in the game--at least in the PC version--but for the life of me I can't find it ANYWHERE!
It's an obscure John Williamsie something that doesn't get a lot of play in the videogames generally. I thought it was from asteroid field or during the battle of endor, but it's not. It's sounds very spacie and has a nice drive to it, and it's a real kicker that it continues to elude me :(
Never had it in PC, but someone else in the comments said the PC one is at 4:41. Not sure if that's it or not.
so good 🥺
Skyhook battle even on medium was nuts. I got fucking murdered by star vipers on the approach.
AMAZING
If this particular theme was in all space battles in the Star Wars movies, it would be so perfect. 🔥 this theme is lit!
09:36 and follows would be great for a final scene of Star Wars the ghost force of anakin and padme living together for eternal
3:20-6:46
great music video
No, it's in ancient Galactic Basic. There is a version of the song in Mandalorian called Dha Werda Verda aka Mandalorian war song
I keep holding out hope that now that Disney owns Star Wars, they will go back and animate Shadows of the Empire. I want to see Dash save Luke from Jabba's men, I want to see Xizor try to seduce Leia... and I want to see this moment, when we have the full on might of the Imperial Army reigning down on someone and the audience is CHEERING for it.
Poor you. If you only knew then 4 years ago, the atrocities that disney would commit.
the opening to this piece contains parts of the original Dha Werda Verda poem before it was hijacked and changed by the prequel trilogy expanded universe
The Republic Commando one is also a masterpiece. I always sing it during exams to bring confidence in myself.
But I like this one too its rythm is so soothing
What a climactic ending!
Dha Werda Verda!
7:00 Whenever I hear this part, I imagine Vader force-squishing Xizor's face and when the Empire theme kicks in, Vader is relishing in what the fuck just happened.
Para mí gusto la mejor canción del disco.
Lmao, funny you say that I'm having a pie right now.
this should have been the prequel music
5:34
there is more passion put into this song that the entirety of what J.J Abrams has done for the franchise.
My favorite part runs from 4:10 to 6:52. At the 4:30 mark CRANK IT UP ALL THE WAY!!!!! WHOA!!!!! Worthy of a Bose system or an Aiwa surround sound system.
just re-read this book and had this soundtrack on all the time. Sad SOTE isn't still cannon - with a few exceptions it still fits. Give it to Filoni to do an animated special.
Dash rendar is canon, black sun is canon so therefore Xizor is being the prince, if a comic where a scientist turns imperial officers and storm troopers into giant green pigs is canon, shadows of the empire and dark forces is. (for the record dark troopers are back and they mention 3-4 phases of them making the dark forces lore and battlefront lore canon.
@@artycharr Can Dark Forces still be canon in the new continuity when Rogue One exists?
@@prkr07 "…if you had to throw a dinner party and invite everyone who had ever stolen the Death Star plans, you'd be surprised at how many place settings you'd have to worry about."
I give this track a 10/10! get it??? 10/10...
Anyone else recently watch the Last of The Jedi fanfilm and search for this soundtrack?
Star Wars... the topic is so deep and there are all the different languages. I speak Huttese! lol
Yeah a cgi SOTE movie that way all the voice actors can be in it
CenturianEagle except Carrie Fisher is dead
It's time for a new generation of actors. Nothing against Mark Hamill but they are getting old, unless they choose to be in a film, there wouldn't be any point.
@0311SECFOR that line is so hilarious!!!! cant stop laughing
POV: You’re the 1993 Houston Oilers in the 4th Qtr of the Wild Card Round vs the Chiefs
Yes, they are both Dha Werda Verda
Xizor disliked
this soundtrack is way better than all the prequels soundtracks combined
Not really, dear...
i believe in a Videogame of Shadows of the Empire only for Nintendo vs Battlefron from PS4/Xbox One
Much of this piece is patterned closely after Ravel's... forget the name of the piece.
ooo
4:44!!!
5:37 sounds a lot like Belshazzar's Feast. (( watch?v=5S7By7pDjJ4?t=23m33s at 23:33 ))
Is there anyway to upload other Star Wars video game soundtracks that were original as this?
Oddly enough the composer wrote this based on the novel, and it was later used in the game as background music.
The Lethiferous Moose thanks for the reply :)
Anyone else hear Hera's theme from 9.50-9.56? Maybe they based it on this??
Is this from a cd or the game?
what soundtrack is this its from the video game?
He needs to work with Michael Giacchino
He needs to replace Michael Giacchino.
If someone were to replace Giacchino, it would probably be Bear McCreary
Not much. He scored a few forgettable films in the 90's (e.g. "Virus" and "Avengers") and has mostly done work for direct-to-video cartoons this decade.
It's a shame that talents are wasted while directors opt for the generic kitsch of hacks like Hans Zimmer.
Warms my cold, cold heart to see someone else on the internet rightly refer to Zimmer as a hack.
Violent Nomad Same here.
If Disney have any sense at all, they'll hire Joel McNeely to score Star Wars Episodes X, XI and XII.
McNeely wrote some great
music for the Orville as well.
Or hire Frederic Talgorn, fantastic music
Why didn't Kathleen Kennedy make this into a movie? Or Force Unleashed? Or any of the great expanded universe stories? Or hell even remake the prequals with better scripting and acting? Instead we got a REMAKE of A New Hope, which nobody asked for or was remotely needed............
"There's no source material."
Remember?
Acknowledging the EU now would be admitting that their own new projects are either complete failures or not good enough to stand as original contents of their own.
And so would be abandoning these projects, which Disney won't allow as long as the franchise is still lucrative, so all they can do at this point is cherry pick from Legends and hope enough people praise them for it.
@@thepartydontstoptilliwalkin The "There's no source material" quote blew my fucking mind and confirmed Kathleen Kennedy was terrible for this job. I love how much Mark Hamill and John Boyega publicly bashed these films and said these movies are terrible
