This is the second video I have watch of yours in the last 10mins, I have learnt more in this last 10mins than god knows how many hours I have spent listening to other people . Content great, british accent out of this world, some one I can listen to at last
I have never put all those brush options together before, so this was very instructive. I always learn something from your videos (and book that I'm reading now). Thanks!
I was very excited to learn this approach to creating masks with Lightroom. Somehow, I never learned that using 0 Feather and 100% Flow is the key to making effective complex selections. I am finding that I can stay in Lightroom and avoid the far more tedious task of creating masks in Photoshop when I use your approach. I have combined this with the great techniques that I learned from your books: The Photographers Guide to Image Sharpening in Lightroom and Mastering Photoshop Masks. After years of using and studying Lightroom and Photoshop, I have found your teaching to be an awakening! Thank you.
Another superb video. I’ve always thought of the adjustment brush in LR as a bit of a blunt instrument. However your videos show this isn’t necessarily the case.
By the way, just a little tip: as with almost every other slider in Lightroom, if you hold down the ALT key while making adjustments with the Lightroom Range Mask sliders, you will see a Photoshop-like b+w mask which is way more precise than the standard red overlay mask of Lightroom.
I think you may have scrolled down too far after making your selection and are using the global adjustment controls rather than the selective adjustment controls.
Thanks! The mask "on/off" switch under the histogram is quite confusing - so it is a circle with this slider sort of thing to the right O-------, does it actually do anything or is it just a switch? It looks like a slider but it is not as far as I can see. EDIT: It seems it is just a large brush icon, lol.
I think you are refring to the Brush but it's hard for me to know. The interface has also changed a lot in recent years and all the selection tools are now in under a Masking icon.
Yes it seems so. The whole thing is a switch to turn the mask function on, but it resembles a slider, so it was strange to me why does it not "work."@@RobinWhalley
Thank you so much for this instructive video, plus the perfectly spoken british accent ! :)
You're very welcome and I'm pleased you like my accent.

Thank you. I really appreciate your support and great to know you like the content.
I'm right there with Howard and am anxious to try this tomorrow!

Brilliant. Thank you
Great tutorial, so well explained at the right pace. Clear and concise. Thanks.
Thank you for the great feedback. Much appreciated.
Excellent tutorial Robin - and I find the speed of your presentation perfect - thank you.
Thanks for the feedback John. It's good to know I'm getting the presentation right.

Thank you. This is wonderful feedback and most appreciated.
Thanks, Robin. Taught me a few suble techniques I didn't know about in masking.
Very helpful video!
Thank you. I produced a few of these videos at the time showing different Lightroom selection tricks that are often overlooked.
Thanks Robin, very good tutorial. Great tip about making the initial brush much larger, I had been going the other way and making it smaller!
Thanks. I hope you can put it to good use. There are limits to what can be done in Lightroom but the tools are more flexible than they first appear.
That was incredibly helpful. Thanks! Clear and well paced instructions that did not run ahead of my understanding.
Great to hear! Thank you.
Another superb video. I’ve always thought of the adjustment brush in LR as a bit of a blunt instrument. However your videos show this isn’t necessarily the case.
Thanks Simon. I wouldn't say the brush is as precise as what can be achieved with Photoshop but it's certainly quicker and and easier.
Really great video, Robin. You created an extremely useful little assortment of Lightroom Range Mask tutorials and I'm glad I discovered it. Cheers!
Thanks Andreas. I'm pleased you found the videoshelpful.

Thanks for adding the information.
Perfect!!! Thank you very much!
You're welcome! Thank you.
A very helpful video, Robin. Many thanks!
Thanks David. Good to know you found it helpful.
Excellent, as always!
Thank you
Very useful tutorial.
Thank you very much.
Excellent 😄
Thanks
Great video! Is this possible on the iPhone app?
Thanks. NO I don't think you can do this with the Mobile apps.
Really great video. One question I must be doing something wrong as the change is affecting the whole image not what I selected. Thank you Robert
I think you may have scrolled down too far after making your selection and are using the global adjustment controls rather than the selective adjustment controls.
Thank you Robin will check that.
Brilliant!
Thanks Andy
