It's her beautiful voice, and the emotion she sings it with. My daughter is a Senior at Bryant HS here in Arkansas and I got to watch our theatre group perform this tonight. Our Miss Honey killed it, too. This song makes me emotional, in a good way.
So happy they let Miss Honey sing at West End Live, because Matilda the musical is SO much more than a musical about kids and I hope more people will go see it. It's SO good!! And Lauren is obviously the best Miss Honey ever
The entire crowd was crying after this performance during Matilda when I went last week. It goes without saying, but this video doesn’t do justice to witnessing it in person in the theatre! ❤
I went to see the show last night with Lauren in it, We met her after the show at the stage door, and she was one of the nicest people I have EVER met. She was open for photos, signatures, and had a bright smile on her face the whole time.
OMG I adore Lauren Byrne so so much she is just incredible!!! I am so excited to be attending the same drama school as her in September!! Her control at 2:35 is INCREDIBLE and her flip at 3:01 show her incredible talent!
oh my god she’s so so so soooooo amazing 😍😍!! i’m about to audition for miss honey in my drama school later today and i’m no where near as amazing as this omg 😭😭
Holy shit, they did a Matilda act that isn't just the same as every year! (I mean the Saturday act was the normal one, but in other years they've literally done the same act both days.)
It's fascinating how quickly and completely she can switch from Lauren Byrne (enjoying the crowd) to Miss Honey (bearing her soul in song) when the music starts then right back again as soon as it's over. That takes a lot of emotional control.
2:15 This my house This is my house It isn’t much but it is enough And when it’s cold and bleak I feel no fear Even in the fiercest storms I am warmed By a small but stubborn fire Even when outside it’s freezing I don’t pay much heed I know that everything I need is in here
Anyone who likes this song please listen to Not Perfect by Tim Minchin. I know he wrote both, but good reference to compare and you can see the inspiration

This is why I know I'll never be able to see this being performed live. Honestly, no-one wants to see a 50-year old bloke blubbing his eyes out in public over a Tim Minchin song - ever
Beautiful song. But that's no reason not to ruin it with a lyric mash-up version! Someone who can sing should actually do this. Deadpan, I reckon? This lamp keeps me dry when the rain falls This table helps to keep the cold at bay On these walls I can stand on my own two feet On this window I can write my lessons On this door I can dream my nights away And this roof, as you can see, well, it's perfect for tea ... On this pillow I hang wonderful pictures Through this chair I can watch the seasons change By this floor I can read, and I, I am set free!
I saw Lauren in Cinderella as Carrie Hope Fletcher was sick. Personally I think she was better in Cinderella her voice is amazing and this song is too low for her vocal range.

I saw her sing in person when I went to London - The bit where she sings "This is myyyYYYY housee!" Nearly brought me to tears!!!

Isn’t she! I had the same when I went!
I saw Lauren as Jane Seymour in SIX way back in 2020 (pre-pandemic), and she was absolutely brilliant. Really hoping I can see her in Matilda soon
Lauren is just an incredible performer. Good for her, and hope her career keeps going up!
Lauren Byrne performed this song so beautifully!! Her voice was just so beautiful and full of emotion.
Good singing, FANTASTIC acting.
I saw her sing this in April and was literally crying with how good it was. Really had me emotionally. An incredible song and singer
I missed the Escapologist's part, but I understand it would be too much of a spoiler. She was absolutely fantastic.

Ooooh I'll give it a listen
WOW! Perfection
You know what they should do for this year's West End LIVE??? They should have a four girl "Naughty" and then they should do "Revolting Children".
So great to see Jeremy Kyle back on the keys.
