I have a few succulents.. some have died but I have an arrangement that I bought in June 2020.. I lost one succulent from that arrangement but the other 3 are thriving well. So I saw the buttons and got so motivated to try them again!
It's so weird. I don't hardly ever kill houseplants or succulents, but haworthia are the exception to that. I have killed so many zebra plants. For whatever reason I just can not figure those guys out, and it's a shame because they're stunning!
That's too bad Hilary! 😞 Maybe try changing the type of pot or soil you use. The location can have an affect too. Good luck and thanks so much for your support!
Hello from Canada, Quebec, I love your good advice, especially for indoor plants, winter is cold here so I am already bringing my plants indoors. You are also helping me With my english, i am french speaking. Have a Nice Day.
Well guess what?? I started a small cacti collection!! I realized how beautiful the flowers are!!! I don't quite know which ones I have but they're ball shaped..parodia, echinopsis, or mammallaria types!!! I have a total of 5. I also got pups off of the echinopsis cactus that I have propagating! I can't wait to see them bloom!!!
I got afra mistook it for jade plant was quite dismayed but later on checking about afra found how good plant it is, like carbon sponge, elephant food, got vitamin C in leaves, not poisonous, medicinal benefits etc so very happy now to have got it.
😊👍354⏱23:00 Hello, Carmen I’m sorry it took this long for me to visit. It’s been a challenging year for everyone, and I had to tend to family. Wishing you good health and happiness always, Gerald😊
Never had luck with succulents and cactus years ago, maybe 40 years. Lol. Over loved them. Now I am more knowledgeable and have a few of each. Thought I’d start with just a few. They are all doing fine. Thanks for showing us your collection and for sweet Rosy. Have a healthy and blessed 2021. 🇨🇦
I love all of your videos and I enjoy seeing your plants. Oh, I also enjoy seeing Rosie. I just started growing succulents indoors about six months ago You are right, over watering can be a problem. I have killed a few succulents here and there.
I got the little, little zebra one. It was $3 @lowes a little over a year ago. Instructions read...give it one oz of distilled water once a month😂too funny! (It's "still" alive, lol) Huggs 🤗 to sweet little Rosey🐾💓🐾
I'm starting to like some cacti & succulents. In summer I put them outside in the shade & winter them inside under a grow light. This is the first year I haven't killed them. On a non plant note--that pink sweater looks lovely on you. It's a good colour for you.😊
She doesn't run out the door like she did when she was young. I remember having to chase her around the block! She stays close now, she knows who feeds her. LOL!
I am growing my Euphorbia trigona rubra in almost 💯 percent scoria since I keep it outside in full sun down here in Florida, also if you peel an Aloe leaf and blend the clear part slime and all, you can use that as a very good growing hormone...great info and great video.
Hi Carmen, nice to se you, beautiful plants, and thanks for sharing, i show what i do whit my hortensias i winter, a lot of greetings from Serbia-Europe !
Thank you for the lovely video! I just gave a friend of mine a few of dragon fruit seedlings(I planted a bunch of them in August and they all grew!) and a zebra Haworthia that was looking so pretty I almost didn't give it to her and kept it for myself😁. I am now separating my triplet Euphorbia trigona to give one to another friend along with some dragon fruit seedlings as well.
@@carmenwhitehead Thanks! If there is one good thing this quarantine life gave me it's a lot of extra plant love so I want to spread the joy 😁 Oh, and a Happy New Year to you too!!
Echeveria can be tricky, that's why I didn't include them in this list. Happy New Year to you as well Sherry, thanks for all your support this past year! 🎉🎉
Hi Carmen, unrelated question, do you have a Birkin? I was watering and turning plants today and noticed my Birkin has gone crazy with growth. She is such a beautiful plant with so much white striping. She’s become one of my favorites.
I do have a Birkin. A few months ago it was battling Spider Mites and now it's getting new growth in it's recovery. I have it under a grow light in my bedroom now.
I have a few cactus 🌵 and succulents but I tend to avoid them. I really don’t have a great place for them. I live in a darker house and have limited space. I may move them under grow lights. Do you consider String of Hearts a succulent? Would you use Tanks Green Stuff in a SOH? Thanks for another great video.
@@carmenwhitehead That's great! Hope everything is well and looking forward to your vlogs.🥰🥰🥰Btw, we are The Next Gardener, an online nursery for succulents babies. Will you do any collaboration? We have sent you an email before and want to send you some soil and succulents for free.🤗🤗🤗

I have the burgundy 'string of bananas' (I know that it's not really, as it has a yellow flower) and it's really easy to grow too, but what do I do when they are too long?
@@carmenwhitehead I wish that I was able to send you photos of the succulents that I have, as most of them were pieces that didn't come with names, and lots are crested or relatively rare and I have no idea what they are called!!
What type of soil mixture do you use for your succulents? I don't have many but I've been using b the miracle gro cactus mix and its very lightweight soil and works great. I just bought a String of buttons..its trailing! How long do I wait before I can repot it? I want to put it in a bowl planter.
Those soil combinations are great. Anything that will make the soil chunky and free draining (pumice, perlite). they tend not to have big root systems, so careful in putting them in too big a pot or damaging the roots.
It was very quiet. No big family get together, so I miss my nieces and nephews. But, I was able to spend time with my kids and their spouses. How about you?

I usually wear gloves that have a thick rubber on the palm and fingers section.
How do you propagate string of dolphins
