Making Custom Bike Wheels with Industry Nine // Made With Love

- Опубликовано: 6 сен 2024
- Most people might know Industry Nine by its wheel’s signature sound, and while the internals are impressive, the process and community behind the entire wheel itself is equally remarkable. Since the company’s first wheels hit the ground in 2004, it has been continually innovating every process involved, be it at the drawing board, in machine shop or on the assembly line. Get a glimpse of the process-from lathing to lacing-in this episode of Made With Love.
Manufacturing-most people don’t think of it as glamorous, but there is an allure to it that inspires and drives creation. The process and production behind modern mountain bikes and their associated products is an art form in itself, one that captivates both bike nerds and bike jocks alike. Made With Love is a series designed to capture the literal nuts and bolts upon which our sport is built: The components and people that bring bikes from the assembly line to trail.

Great video and even better wheels!
One of the main reasons I chose I9 over bontrager is the fact that I know where these wheels come from and there built by people who love to ride. Great video of a great company.
Love it! They're like the American version of Hope.
Totally!
They are
a small one then
profile?
If only other companies made videos like this to show the true quality of their hubs. I am SOLD!!! I9s with Velocity Duallys are the best wheels ever. All made here in USA!!!
True!, I want one pair now!
Was humming and hawing over reviews looking at upgrading my wheel sets... but this documentary has me sold on i9. Thank you
You will not be disappointed. Glad you liked the video
This company clearly invests in modern CNC work stations to keep their manufacturing quality standards high and likewise with their professional workforce to ensure that everything necessary for their products to be readily available is in house.
How nice to see companies treat wheels, rims, hubs and spokes like the high precision components that they are!
Thank you very much! Seeing the whole team behind those wheel brings ‘human touch’ on a whole new level! I know what my next wheels are!;)
Love my I9 MTB wheels!
Really great to see the team that produce these jewels.
Fantastic hubs! We love these!
Made with pride!
Carter! I went to a mechanic school with that guy! He is an awesome dude!
As quality assurance auditor, you can see the processes that were designed first for precision and later honed for efficiency. One day I’d love to visit your facility. Currently enjoying your Hydra hub on my 12 x 142 Diamondback Mission 2 mullet project. Thank you for not leaving us non-boost folks behind.
Its so good to see that there is still some cool stuff that's made here in the USA. I had no idea Industry9 stuff was made here in the US. Thanks.
wow this is like How It's Made except even more satisfying because it's only bike parts lol
Whatever money you spent for producing this image move, it is well worth it!
You guys need to come to the moto world and start making wheels great again!
The American ‘Hope’
I bought i9 three years ago custom built... Have them shipped to Costa Rica and they are perfect 🙏🏼🇺🇲💪🏼
I love my trail 270s! Clint is a awesome guy too. I met him when I came to visit my father who just moved to marshill. he gave me a personal tour of the shop. A memory of a life time.
Clint is certainly the man! One of our favorite humans
Amazing. Would love to work for that company
Great video, awesome crew of people and the best wheels I've ever had!
Very cool look behind the curtains!
I had no idea that Industry 9 was US made. I always thought they were from China. Look like there giving Chris King a run for the money. I ride a set of 26" Chris King / Mavic wheels I built myself. If I were in the market for a new wheelset I'd seriously consider them. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
It speaks so good from the company by sharing the faces of each one involved in the manufacturing process. Now I know who will build my next wheels
Industry 9 are great people, thanks for watching!
Love the 2 sets of i9's I have.
The customization is very appealing.
Cool. High quality stuff... 10-15 wheel sets per builder a day! That's a lot.
That's CRAZY talk! That's a LOT of wheels in one day...
Super cool design and manufacturing process! Personally, I just love ripping through a good section of singletrack in dead silence. I know a lot of people love the signature sound but I do wish they made a silent version as well.
Id love to do a supermarket sweep through that factory with a shopping trolley :) dream hubs im saving up to get some
Thank you guys I'm really enjoy mine .
Just bought my first i9 hubs! Can’t wait to try them.
Very best, very very fantastic. I love bike love CNC and love this video. Love anodized love mtb love aluminum...
Aw I wish I could have a set of hydras. Love this company but I just can’t afford that price. But boy do I salivate over how good they look. It’s window shopping for me
Seriously beautiful wheels
Hope to one day own some
Hi from UK
Awesome! Best regards from Ukraine!
BIKE PORN!!!!! LOVE THESE WHEELS!!!
Awesome video y'all!
Like how he measures the part, but still tosses it at the end.
The measuring was for QC purposes, just to ensure its within certain tolerances.
@@freehubmag I check the pistons in engines for spec and I sure as hell don't toss them on the bench. Just sayin. You don't spec parts and toss them. I know machinists who throw a part in the trash if its dropped.
theres something really cool about american engineering/manufacturing
I'm an American 🇺🇸 living here in N.Italy 🇮🇹 serving in our USAF res/contractor. My wife's Italian as are my step-daughters (so I'll be here indefinitely;-). Recently picked up biking and put on 1,000miles on these Alpine trails....fun but my 2008 Trek 4800 components have started to fail...the free wheel won't engage~ SO I typed in "Strong, Reliable, Fast wheel hubs" and your video popped up!!! AND your an AMERICAN company that makes a great product for the right reasons! I'll be buying your hubs to blaze these trails~ Thanks for reading AND making your hubs!!!✌️🖖👌🇺🇸🇮🇹😬
Trek 4800? its a dinosaur :)
shout out to the peeps who made my wheel set! there sweet!

AR25 Love them.
Do people that work on bike factories get discounts?
MaQuGo119 they get two free sets a year
Wish to buy their wheel set.
I got to know of your brand from Seven Cycles. I wonder if the wheels are available in Singapore or Dubai, and if we need to purchase spare spokes, in cases of proprietary parts? Also, I wonder if the company could advise on the maintenance aspects, in terms of regularity and ease of doing so?
How much cost 26 inches wheel?
Must be expensive which I can't afford..
But would be really nice if you answer 😊
Wow.... #Lifegoals
Anybody know why they discontinued their Torch wheelset?
cool! nice job and product there
Damn ! I regret that one time somebody tried to trade a niner nine bike to one of my bike I didn't . Quality never died .

Who supplies the rims?
Industry Nine has recently partnered with We Are One Composites out of Kelowna BC for their carbon rims, making their carbon wheels manufactured completely within North America. Aluminium rims are produced in Taiwan to Industry Nines specifications and testing standards.
Maeh endeng sekek
Expensive asf
Neat
Omg.
I think...Industry 9 wheels is world best... I have 2011 DH rear hub, during 8years.... no problem
Yes closely followed by Profile , but for design points ..Industry 9 comes on top
👍👍👍👍👍🖐
If almost everything is automated, why price is so high? I'm not from US or any 1st world country,, I look for an explanation
Wow
Can you give me a hubs.because my old is rusty now.
Cosidering i9 Hubs cost as much as a good made in taiwan XC bike they should be the best.
"a mori seiki cnc machine" shows a fanuc wire edm, this was so good until that line!
jessebv I think you misheard. The narrator said that the drive ring profile and external threads were cut on a Mori Seiki CNC. Then after heat treat of the A2 the teeth on the ID are cut with a wire EDM.
Benjamin Smith i understood correctly.
Show us the Mori Seiki! Its describing every process and the machine associated with it except for that one step.
if i was a millionaire i would still buy dt swiss
I wanted to upgrade my rear hub to an industry 9 but my bike shop told me I should just buy a Bontrager tire. 😞 I wish I didn’t live out in the sticks
👍👏🖐.
