You guys bringing up King Pin reminded me that as a 12 year old I made it to the final 8 bowlers in a state wide bowling tourney sponsored by Pepsi. Each kid has to fill out a card with things about them - age, high game/series, and most important to the story, favorite professional bowler. I NEVER watched the PBA and couldn't name a single one, so I put Roy Munson. Honestly don't remember how I ended up placing in the tournament, but I will always remember the slow and confused applause when they read my card.
I had a similar experience when I was entered into a horseshoe tournament by a girlfriend's dad at 16. Ended up taking 2nd place with no experience against some serious horseshoe guys. Her dad took 4th.

Can I get some words of wisdom!? I have my oldest who graduated last year originally was going to go to trade school. However, class got canceled his younger brother one year. Younger is a senior this year. Has many schools looking at him and giving offers his junior year he got injured his senior year so magically offer stopped even though he’s 100% healthy now. He has talked his older brother into coming back and trying to play football. He’s a great athlete. The older one that is he is an amazing long snapper. He went from quarterback to lineman in the middle of his high school career. Thanks for the injury he beefed up but he has a seven second snap that’s dead accurate even more so now that he has had time to hit the gym for a year after high school. My other son is a Center the one that’s a senior, very strong they would like to play football together. Little bummed some of the bigger schools pulled back with the injury. Money will now be tight as my sr. Is getting offered 25k a year scholarship still will owe almost 20k for the NAIA he was offered. The older one is looking to get the same as well! Fellow OH born boys too! MD now but Iowa Bound if nothing major comes along! Clarke University

It’s common rugby tradition where when a player scores their first try they have to “shoot the boot”
So when I was in high school we filled one of their cleats with water from the Gatorade bottle and commenced peer pressure
