I agree completely. And if the Telsa Vision is better then why not wait until that is ready to be implemented instead of removing the USS capability now?
Thanks; I didn't know about this. Seems strange but I am optimistic that Tesla has the algorithm to make the cameras do a better job than the traditional ultrasound sensors! 👍
I agree with the cost cut, but removing these sensors will have a direct impact on the passenger's experience on what Tesla stands for. I think this move is risky, mainly on how buyers in the future will perceive on buying a Tesla next time they go around shopping. As for the cameras, I have my doubts for I feel they will be less accurate. This move reminds me on how some companies replace whole milk with powder milk, when making a shake. Not a good sign, if you ask me
Ya the most recent update on vision based park assist is kinda sub par at best. I tried it on my friends MY and the bloody thing can be quite inaccurate at times. Hopefully it imrpoves tho :(. Thanks for the comment!
I took delivery of the car yesterday and am not receiving any warnings or measurements. The car does not react to anything when parking. What is the reason of this?
Tesla "claims" the cameras later on will bring that back on a software update. I hopeful but really unsure if that is the case. Do you have the sensors on your new baby? My guess is no but just double checking.
Tesla removing the USS is primarily cost cutting. The fact they did it before having it ready on camera, and leaving it on the costlier x and s proves this. Now people buying the cheaper 3 and y have to wait for whenever their engineers implement this with high enough success rate... I honestly have my doubts it would be just as good, as sight is not the same as USS. They both have their pros and cons.
well said.. I totally agree with the cameras being just as good but we would have to see I guess. Hopefully Elon and the Tesla team can prove us wrong.
No ultrasonic sensors and no replacement for the functionality they provided - what a rip off! Replacing inexpensive, available sensors that just work and require relatively little programming logic with no ultrasonic sensors and tons of additional software complexity to use vision -that’s absolutely the wrong move. Not to mention the blind spots not covered by the cameras. Cheaper cars and even Tesla cars sold more than 5 years ago have USS! If that's not enough, as of January 2023, Tesla would be adding radar back. ?!? Taking delivery of a new Tesla model 3/Y in December 2022 with no sensors would be a very bad move. I am almost certain I will have to cancel my order. Very very disappointing. Paying through the nose for a Tesla, I just cannot overlook this. And I do not believe them that a similar or better solution will come any time soon, there will be no parity to USS. What a horrible move by Tesla. Lots of money to not provide basic functionality and to use customers a beta testers putting property and lives at risk.
Well said man. Elon always says, The best process is no process, the best part is no part but sometimes he may jump the gun with his decisions. I'm still hopeful they will have this solved but Elon is definitely testing us consumers lol.

For better or for worse .. Tesla seems to love to use us as guinea pigs :P
Costsaving no matter the customer-experience or at what level the car was at when you bought it. Simply unbelievable.
What are your thoughts on this change? How long will it take for the cameras to do a better job than theses sensors?
Great video and happy thanks giving!
you 2 !

Ya i have faith in Tesla figuring it out as well! The timeline is whatt we need to worry bout
