I'm just happy they've added the ability to progress in old seasons, removing one of the remaining fews bits of FOMO in the game and is basically what I wanted seasons to be in the first place as it's basically the Borderlands 3 vault card system.
That's an amanzing feature that I wish more games would implement
Same here. While I felt the loot crates where somewhat fun and entertaining, they felt pretty underwhelming/anticlimactic because I'd always feel like it was more a way to get minerals rather than cosmetics
This also helps a lot to have new players get used to the whole game, I think, because they can understand the fun of getting a dumb mustache and also understand how far the game has come to be
It's something that I think almost none of us thought about but a great addition whatsoever

Hardly, the drillevator is just as much of a hunk of junk as everything else, there's not even a ceiling so you keep getting bug corpses and rocks rained down on you, all while the damn thing overheats every 10 seconds. Cost cutting is still the name of the game at Deep Rock

We've seen it's possible with the flaming beard and mustache. Now give us Gunners Cigar from the title screen Ghost Ship.
Sadly they can’t without bumping up the game’s rating from T to M, they can only have smoking or beer in game not both, and as awesome as it sounds (we all wanna be Arnold with a stogie) Its near impossible to picture this game without the abyss bar and Lloyd. Smoking bullet casing in a mustache simulating a cigar miiiight just work. Claim it’s just hot brass caught in your mustache.

The new mnigun overclock in combination with aggressive venting is something a recommend trying out
I’m always a sucker for more guns, but overclocks is more than acceptable.

I was shocked with just how much stuff was added in this update, my biggest gripe with season 4 was the big headline items (Jetboots and the Corruptor) were just random chance events and stuff you didnt get to interact with alot, i made it to level 273 on season 4's performance pass and only fought the Corruptor 35 times, it's very jarring to see GSG take the critisicm in stride and do SO MUCH in this update instead of just saying "well you still played the game so were gonna keep half-baking these seasons" like other big game companies would do
I wish a couple Crawlers would be present in a cave system that has a core stone. Their sound design is very cool and spooky, and you can’t really hear it during the event. I wish you could hear those creepy clicks in the darkness of an unexplored cave.
My girlfriend and I hadn't felt genuine fear while playing Deep Rock in a long damn time til that damn purple rock pillar--
We were frickin screaming and running for our lives not knowing what to do--I MEAN IN THE END WE BEAT THE DAMN ROCK BUT GEEZ, THE GENUINE FEAR WE FELT

I think the biggest problem with fighting Harold is how much he moves. You call down the cleaning pod and he's in a whole other cave system, got to ferry the gear over. Once you start spraying him, he takes off and runs away even further.
Also the fact that you can’t just *ignore* Harold.
He’s not a hazard that you have to manually activate; Harold‘s constantly making the floor a poison field that out-DPS‘s the gunner shields heal-per-second.
On longer mission types where you have to stay in one area for a long time, like salvage operation and **especially** on-site refinery, the environment will get too hazardous if you let him be.
@@elias0240 Yep me and my friend once tried to ignore him on elimination and he marched all the way across the map to kill us before we could crack the second egg. Rockpox really isn't too bad otherwise. It's just Harold who's the problem.

Every two seasons share a theme and so the next season we'll probably go even deeper into Hoxxes. The core stone event spawns rifts and new enemies that are not glyphids, and are said to be "from deeper down near the core of Hoxxes."
Anyone else think the rifts resemble the terrain around error cubes? Like the white crystals that blow purple/pink ish. Even the new resonance crystals could be bigger versions of the typical smaller ones. Maybe the cubes are going to finally be realized as pieces from of the core / deepest parts of Hoxxes?
I hope we get to see what RnD does with the core stones eventually.

Except this time we're dwarven reclaimers sent to investigate a total blackout in the deepest facilities on Hoxxes. Season 5 serves as a prologue for Rogue Core because we see the Company dig deeper and deeper into the planet, and also discover the Corestones.
You know how the shard defractor is make out of a piece of hearthstone? What about a new engie gun that opens rift portals that suck bugs into a different dimension?

my favorite part, and the freakiest part of the crawlers, is they don't really show and emotion while getting shot. glyphids either jerk around or run away when getting shot, but they just keep going. very creepy
Two arms and two legs on the new deep crawlers + a skull. I wonder if that is what happened to Karl and other Dwarfs left behind. Mutated and mangled into those creatures.
they openly stated that those are supposed to be naturally-occurring creatures, not infected/mutated horrors. they said something creepy like that is not really compatible with their target audience

Dreads or bulks? Dreads cannot be set on fire iirc. Unless they changed something
@@PetrichorBlue The new OC also reduces the heat threshold of things with its debuff, so maybe it lowers it enough that it's possible?
@@PetrichorBlue bulks are surprisingly easy to set on fire, but i'm talking about dreads. the new plasma carbine OC makes it easier to freeze/torch targets, allowing dreads to be set on fire, at least theoretically

I actually managed to encounter the Core Stone boss earlier today during a run with some randoms. I had no idea what it was, so I just cracked it open with my drills. I'm sure you can imagine my surprise when the swarms of monsters started flooding out of glowing portals. 🤣

I noticed some stuff on my end that I thought was pretty interesting.
There are new kill lines for Web and Acid Spitters, and they're pretty good. My favorite has to be, "I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE, SPITTER!"
There's a new shout out line that I thought was worth pointing out. Sometimes, dwarves can now say, "MY LIFE FOR ROCK AND STONE!" The Helldivers 2 connection is beginning to grow stronger here.
This is a great season and I love the new mission type. Props to the new overclocks, they're my favorite part of the update.
DUDE! The season replay is 100% the best feature ever! As someone who has very little time to play it is so good to be able to get the cosmetics that way.
We originally couldn't pet Doretta if memory serves (we couldn't pet a _lot_ of things far enough back), which gives me hope that petting the Drillevator could be added in later. We can only hope...

This season is so good it feels a little unreal. The season event and new mission are peak, the overclocks are so fun especially for the sludge pump and hurricane. ROCK AND STONE BROTHERS

A note about conductive thermals: Its debuff actually makes it possible to set dreadnaughts on fire, so you can get that sweet volatile bullets synergy

I’ve been suspecting Driller’s sticky flame OC would be great for the drill-a-vater portion.
It's great for almost any mission (outside of bosses), to be fair
the music when you mount the jet boots and fly up gives me chills of how epic it is

I honestly like how they kept the seasons and updated the background on the ship. Now there is a bit of a fun way to personalize your ship a bit.
Definitely going to shell out for the DLC this season. I haven't bought any up to this point but i think they earned it. Lots of work went into this season and it shows. Replaying seasons and Haz 5 modifiers added 100's of hours of replayability alone

fun addition I loved reading about in the patch notes from community requests; you can now Flash freeze gas clouds! In-game it works really well, it seems like any freezing can trigger it just like flames will explode it. Although they state that "neurotoxin grenade clouds will not flash freeze due to low moisture content"
If the turrets are able to stay attached to the drillevator, I'm curious if GSG will add that feature to Dotty 🤔
I find it immeasurably funny that after way too much rockpox we find out that DRG's solution was "nuke the fuckers"

Cluster Charges on the hurricane is the most fun I've had in DRG in years. That OC is such a blast to useand with the incendiary T5 mod it lights things on fire in a single well place missile detonation which feels amazing to take advantage of with the revolver on a volatile bullets build

I think a glyphid hive elimination mission would be awesome, going on the offensive against the bugs. Like a unique environment plastered with glyphid eggs and more defense-oriented enemies
new voiceline added as well "My life for rock and stone!" which I can only assume is a reference to helldivers "my life for super earth!" when stimming very solid update too
One small note: Me and a group of dwarves found out the very hard way that if you have regular jet boots on, you CANNOT equip the special drillevator boots. Safe to say we got utterly slaughtered on haz 5, even the greybeards with 800 levels.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the sound design when you hook up the resonance crystals, That reverberating beam sound is very satisfying in my opinion.
The new core stone track was making my first (failed) encouter so tense, our driller didnt ask us if we were ready before cracking it open and that led into me having to fly around the cave with special powder for a few minutes reviving my team only for all of us to eventually die, it was great lol

Excellent Season 5 review video!! Looking at your Legendary badge, I see DRG upgraded the Promotion Tiers, showing how many times you "prestige" after maxing out. I used to use a mod showing this feature, but no one else could see it except me which kinda defeated the purpose. I am sooooo happy GSG finally recognized all of use topped out dwarfs. DID I HEAR A ROCK AND STONE?

I love conductive thermals a lot. Doing a dreadnaught mission with a conductive thermals scout and an ice storm driller is definitely one of the strongest combos right now, if not THE strongest.
The new event looks pretty awesome! Definitely feels like it's exploring the whole Error Cubes that you find occasionally. I still think, and now even more, that the Error Cubes are tied to some ancient advanced aliens that used to inhabit Hoxxes. With the new event opening rifts to some strange dimension and letting some new species flood in definitely gives me hope that one day we'll "Dig Deeper" in the planet and fall into a new biome that's just a ruined city of that ancient alien species. With all the crazy stuff you find in the caves, Error Cubes, those Helix strands, the Heartstones, and those massive fossils we find can all be hints to something big. Maybe Hoxxes was some strange experiment to this alien civilization that led to the planet exploding. Maybe it's a bit too much to think about but imagine one day the Devs do something like I mentioned with lost city biomes. Maybe that's what the robots were looking for? Trying to find proof of this alien civilization. Maybe that's why DRG keeps sending us on deep dives?! Hoping we'd find more evidence? Maybe I'm just thinking waaaay too much about it? Lol I don't know but it would be dope.
ive been LOVING this season so far. the core stone interaction feels fresh and engaging, and low key a little terrifying. the new enemies, AI changes, phases, its all so amazing and im so happy about all the quality of life changes the devs have gifted us

1st mission on this season from coming back after almost a year of not playing and i encounter a gold crassus,3rd match in i encounter 2 big detonator glyphid things and one is gold again and it was on escort so you can guess how that went
Anyways one of the coolest things on deep scan is when you get betc and you see her just demolishing everything above you and the bodies falling and its just like a movie seen
One thing that would be nice is something like the tranquilizer rounds for Subata but make it napalm instead. it could just make fire damage absolutely MASSACRE tanky enemies or cover large areas in highly flammable material that can be ignited at a moment's notice.
