  • The shared recon programme today came to a conclusion with just 60 days left before the start of the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup. For certain, the next few weeks will see plenty of innovations coming to the fore as all the teams move forward in their design and development programmes and with Emirates Team New Zealand’s AC75 now safely at its base in Barcelona, it will be a very busy few months before racing starts.

Recon has been great, sad we're not going to see more as it's going to be a long wait for racing now! Wish we got to see the kiwis new boat in Barcelona too.

Thankyou Recon teams. I have given you lot a bit of shit over the development period of the cup, but you have done the best you can with the tools you have, well done. Your work has been an enjoyable way to get eyes and ears in on what is typically a very secretive time in the Americas Cup.

Great work from the recon team giving us all an almost daily insight during the development program. As a fan it's really helped build the excitement heading up to August.

Does anyone know if there is still a CUP race like this but with real sailboats? Watching them squirm around today with their foil twisted thingy isn’t worth it to me. I really would rather watch real sailboats like a long time ago and they were much more gorgeous to watch. Yes, they might be slower, but they should Branch Off and let technology, the crazy hull wings will continue to get more freaky. Leave the original style yacht racing to come back and I bet more people watch mine. It’s kind of like how slot car progressed. Techs with lots of money ruined the slot cars and airfoil’s them so well it becomes very boring to watch, same with these beefy hobe cats.

Btw nothing against Louis Vuitton my wife is a customer and I’ve been following the CUP race over 35 years on and off. I live nowhere near sailboat size water so nobody ever explained the Americas Cup Race to me. All I know is from listening to the TV guys and watching it over the years. It’s always looked like amazing fun thing to do for competition.

The recon teams loved being on recon for INEOS over all the other teams. They said they were well briefed, looked after and even had their boats filled up by INEOS.
