In spite of a few flubs here and there (for example at 1:15:59) in addition to playing with fabulous technique, conviction, confidence, and composure, Tchumburidze played with individuality and a unique personality. She is an artist with a lovely sound. Congratulations!!
23:09 caught me the most off guard. If I'm perfectly honest I feel like the prize winners of the Wieniawski competition are somewhat less technically proficient than those of the Menuhin and Queen Elisabeth.
Strange things happen in competitions. Here, the smallest girl turns out to be the biggest giant. This performance of hers reminds me of Kogan and Oistrakh.
Here is the tape of truth: the concert, which showed who really should have won. Bomsori gave a great, marvelous concert! Not only her second place is unjust, also incomprehensible is the place ex-aequo with the Japanese violinist, who totally underwhelmed in concertos in the fourth stage. Veriko's Wieniawski is very heavy...
I'd definitely pay money to go see Seiji or Bomsori before I paid money to see Veriko. I thought her Mozart and Bach were quite weak. Her Concerto wasn't that great to my ear either, but I think the concerto she picked set her apart. Still, I'm not thrilled by her playing, she seems to have a flare for hard, fast dramatic pieces but lacks something in the slow and sweet passages.
That day, when Veriko played Shostakovich, altogether six concertos were being played. An "elderly" Wieniawski (excuse my countrymen...), bland in large doses, and "too classical" Brahms. The audience and the jury had the right to be tired out and a little bit bored. Therefore Shostakovich Violin Concerto, played forcefully, briskly, violently, had to arouse applause. However in the interpretation of Bomsori we heard more than just the power of her instrument and incredible skills: we heard a music, we heard the tragic, somber, chilling story of war, hunger, cold and terror. Played wisely, purely technically, but with emotions. Thanks for the comment with which I entirely agree ;)
In my humble opinion the judges made the right decision. Veriko's playing in the Wieniawski was absolutely beautiful. Her playing is poetic, her sound warm, and her intonation impeccable. Just a very great violinist
Actually, her intonation is not as "impeccable" as the word suggests. But yes, she has the most colourful, rich sound and I am absolutely mesmerized. She blew me away with the depth of her interpretations and also her emotions- the degree of these elements seen in her performances were not comparable to the other contestants :)
Of course, Bomsori isn't bad or anything like that, she plays beautifully! But when Veriko played, I was transported to the hall. And that's what first prize means.
I really think that young Veriko has great potential to become a great soloist, a real artist personality. What concerns Bomsori I didnt like her final's Shostakovich. I dont think she captures Shostakovich music in depth.
I have to admit, this was the top of the top of Wieniawski competitions..the diversity of the participants, the manifested fresh spirit..everything was on spot

mironmis love Bomsori and her playing!
mironmis her (Bomsori) credenza was riveting. As we Americans say, she killed it.
Chris Eaton for sure!
Beautiful ending of the gala. So moving and soulful

Phenomenal Shostakovich by Bomsori Kim .. incredible performance !
Слава Богу за то, что рождаются такие таланты.
increible the first gala is espectacular
Such a touching conclusion of gala...!
Veriko very deservedly and correctly got the first prize.
Não tem melhor remédio para ALMA. Obrigado Henryk Wieniawski, tudo muito mágico.
De nada
Feliz ano novo ^^
Great winner; I wonder what she played in stage 1.
Kammel - aż mi go szkoda.....
Bezsens.
Wou!
42:40 that contrast is quite good. 👍👍👍

so...kim doesnt capture shos.... how infamous can u be....
How disgusting is it that YT interrupt the music with adverts ! Shameless !
Sorry, we have just improved that.
The real winner was Moné Hattori
I have to admit, this was the top of the top of Wieniawski competitions..the diversity of the participants, the manifested fresh spirit..everything was on spot
Thank you! We know that

The Japanese girl made me cry.

왜 한국인은 없는게야~~
19:32 That phrase. He play it so perfectly naturally, that even the director smiled in 19:38, like saying, "damn, he nailed it!"
Hahahahah
