Fantastic. Your home is beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us! I would like to see something low-energy, no CO2 in the ScaperLine 60, but do what you love. Cheeri-O! - Little Bobby
I hear all the time Java ferns dont need Co2 Injection as well but in my tanks they suffer mostly though. I think light is a factor cause in the spots where its overgrown it does better. Seems like in a low energy setup Java fern cant handle direct light. I hope that in the upgrade of the cichlid tank you go full biotope/biostyle with stricktly African plants. Would be awesome too see you implement the new knowledge you gathered for the new book in a new aquascape. I like the Discus tank scape, only change i would make are 3 different Amazon sword types around the wood perhaps a few rocks and course gravel to make it a bit more natural. Thats it. Scaperline 60. Full on creative Aquascape ! The covered tanks for Biotopes and the rimless tanks for Aquascapes. Thats my suggestion. But in the end its up to you 😉 I wish you peace and good health for 2022. Thanks the knowledge and inspiration. 💙
Great video George. I have now seen you moved the Saulosi to the room divider. Good move as I think the Discuss would of been more stressed being exposed both sides. The confident Saulosi will love it! I've got a Saulosi only tank myself, some from Kevs Rifts. My first ever cichlid I kept over 20 years ago and still my favourite. Love the new setup I noticed on OASE Facebook page, have you released any Vids on it yet?
They discus tank is gorgeous! I say this as someone who loves my messy heavily planted biotopes, but personally really like the stark composition just as it is. Discus are so big and vibrant they really kind of are their own visual element, and they’re beautifully emphasized without too many other visual distractions (not to mention if they’re happier and you like it, don’t fix what ain’t broke haha). I was a painter by profession long before I got into aquascaping, and there’s something thats always so beneficial about breaking things down to the basics every once in a while!
I really like Betty 😉 And I like the way the discus stand out colorweis. It was a upgrade from the old look. And the fish looks healthy and fine. And I am looking forward to see more scaping from your beatufull home. Scapes just like you like them for your self.
Personally, I love that Discus tank. A good balance between scape and livestock, and surely it's a good thing if the fish coloured up more. They are obviously enjoying it. Merry Christmas, George. After a year of waiting for Amazon to restock, finally I have a copy of your book.
The discus tank is spot on now, definitely not over stocked, discus do better with larger numbers, they ARE cichlids a bigger group helps spread aggression. If you maintain regular water changes and cleaning of the tank which you do, then nothing to worry about. Avoid the temptation to add to the tank and enjoy the discus fish they look way healthier now
I loved all tanks. Specially the discus. An awesome tank don’t need to be full of plants. The fish really catches your attention when you don’t have too many plants around. I leaned something. I don’t have to have a tank full of decorations to make it great!
The discus tank is great the way it is now. I would most certainly not replant it again but adding floating plants could be an improvement. If there is enough space above the surface for that I don;t know. Great gallery!
I agree with floating plants! And a specimen sword in the right back corner. My discus like to file themselves away in one at night, and it seems to help with aggression, and respects their vertical camouflage. All respecting the minimalist design, which is lovely.
With bigger fish like discus I think simplicity looks way better for some reason. Smaller fish with planted tanks. All the tanks are fantastic, thx for sharing!
I think some rocks in the Discus tank, in between the wood would be. Great addition. Maybe. Couple of epiphytes or some moss on the wood/rock. Maybe blue fin stone?
Your discus tank is perfect don’t change it for anyone. As long as the fish are happy and healthy who cares what others think. Not every tank has to be loaded with plants!
About to turn my waterbox 3618 into a chindongo saulosi tank! You have always a inspired me George! I really enjoyed seeing you aquascape a aquarium in Chicago a couple of years ago.
All the best for the new year George, your content has kept my head above water threw our strict covid bs rules hear in Australia ,central coast(hour out of sydney) or should i say head below the waterline lol looking forward to a year full of good rambling ,the house is looning great, cycling that secondary filter already,i geas well all see that room divider shortly 😉 all the best best bud
Discus tank is alright. Integrating some light colored rock into the hardscape to break up the harsh lines at the substrate and the base of some of the wood might bring it to the next level.
i love your place, full of inspiration. so excited to see cichlids new setup . discus tank need lot of plants like anubias , ferns, moss, buce.. so excited to see new beauties with you legend... goldy
Merry Christmas, George. After 4 years in the hobby, you are still one of my favourites! Betty seems like a gem; I'm glad she and Tommy are getting along.
Following the last update, I decided to do the same on my Discus tank that you kindly scaped for us. I didnt remove all the soil, and kept more of an island (will send you the pictures) and put in 3 x 8kg ADA La Plata sand around the edges in my set up and also had the same results in the colouration of some of my Discus that had darkened down. Hope you and the family had a great Christmas mate. Steve , Claire and Millie
An idea for the “blank slate”. You said that your friend mentioned that you could replicate one of your favorite scapes by Takashi Amono, and you want to do a biotope… So I thought you could creat a scape that looks like the scape that you liked, but only using plants and hardscape from a specific place (like a biotope) but put whatever fish you want in it.
Beautiful! To contrast with your cichlid tanks and really showcase your expertise with plants, I hope you'll go quite lush with your new tank and accent it with your favorite nano fish species.😍
Just feels right to see a rimless tank in your place again and the Oase scaperline looks very high quality, can't wait to see you scape it. Definitely think an Amano recreation is the right move for that tank.
I think I would add more epiphyte plants to the discus tank to show what can be done in a low tech tank. I thought you had Amano shrimp in there and it would increase their grazing area. I do like the light sand for the discus.
Hello Georges, Magnifiques aquariums j’aime beaucoup celui des discus et j’ai vraiment hâte de voir le scape dans le nouveau scaperline. Bonne et heureuse année à vous et à la petite famille. 🐠🌱
Loving the cichlids tank, looking at buying the juwel lido 200. Just a couple of questions, Do you paint the back of your tanks with black acrylic paint? Also when adding the plants to your cichlid tank do you superglue them to the rock or are you adding soil? And finally could you recommend some plant to add, pretty much after the same setup as yours. Thanks. Scott
Thank you for the gallery update George! Not sure if I would risk planting the discus tank again they are looking gorgeous 😍 I think a proper George Farmer nature style aquarium maybe a little wild is needed in that empty aquarium that’s the only thing missing from your living space! Looking forward to the upgrade for your cichlids as well! Any plans for the tank they are currently in after you upgrade them? Almost forgot to mention Betty is a sweetheart 😍 I’m sure Tommy will get over the Jealousy and be happy he has a friend
I am writing as someone who turned from a fish breeder to an aquascaper, I am very happy that you started to engage with other species. As you had mentioned in your video, Cichlids are quite different. Yes, you can bond with them, and with consistency communicate with them, just like with Tommy and Betty. After becoming disabled, I downsized my fishroom capacity-wise. Yet, I still keep a pair of Archocentrus multispinosus (commonly known as Rainbow Cichlids) and a pair of Krobia Xinguensis. I studied their behaviour and started to teach each pair that certain words are for one pair, while other are for the other pair. They do come to the front glass and respond. As for your Angel tank, I would give only one advice: introduce some plants native to their natural habitat (I. e. Aponogeton species) and place 2-3 large stones vertically (if you do not fancy the clay Discus spawning cones) to create visual barrier for a pair to spawn. Their courting, spawning, egg nursing and fry protecting behavior will be a thrill to observe. Do not deprive yourself from that.
Always a pleasure to have a tour of your place! Extremely beautiful! Awesome aquascapes! Thanks for the video George and Merry Christmas 🎁🎄 to you and the family! Enjoy my friend!
Really sorry to hear about your discus. I recently lost a fish that fought hard to survive. Amazing creatures and being a fish keeper can be very rewarding
Envious of your discus tank...I have an evolution aqua 900 with 5 discus. I've noticed you have shrimp in your tank. when you worm your discus, does the dewormer harm the shrimps??
The gallery is looking beautiful buddy! I'd love to see a classic Amano recreation in the new Oase rimless. I think it's an amazing idea! Merry Christmas to you and your family as well brotha! 💚❤🌿
I love and would keep the discus like that, even without plants it looks so beautifull.. One I will rescape my eheim 250 and keep chindongo saulosi. Those fish look amazing and Im looking forward to the roomdivider! Grtz
Hi George, I have followed your Cichlid tank and was inspired when creating my own to then plant as originally it was going to be bare hardscape. I can see your planting and scape has changed but did you find the fish were taking more than a nibble from the ferns? At this stage my tank has no fish as waiting to stock once plants establish as using CO2 for that that will then be cranked down and taken out. I have had a number of algae issues and one complete re-scape (for the better) due to this. My only main plant issue has been trident and wonder if you would use this again in your tank?
I think that if u want more colors from your discus you need to change that dark background to a lighter one since discus like to camouflage a black background will make them darker ?
My opinion is that the discus tank in not overstock. And as far as changes I would add a few more anubias here and there and add another dozen or so to your school. Maybe cardinals to add a bit more color. I have a huge school (150ish) of cardinals and rummy nose in my 220g discus tank and it looks incredible. But since I am not as talented as you with plants I can only grow anubias and Java fern in it because of the 83f water temp.
As far as Discus are concerned mate I think you’ve got it bang on i’m a breeder and a keeper may be great some of the new person on the wood one or two big bunches but the fish or the star of the show. Hi George. Happy Christmas to you and your family. I think I would rescape the Discus aquarium with plenty of epiphyte plants and keep substrate light in colour. 🙂
You have to answer yourself for the question : fish or plants? You have choose correctly 👍🏼 Finally your fish looks good, the change was great decision 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Though I don't find myself as easily drawn to your current iteration of the Discus tank; it is a very beautiful display. That's a preference in my own taste, not a criticism; I'm heavily biased towards heavy plantings. That minimalist style is well executed and compliments the inhabitants extremely well. Why don't you pop a load of pothos plants in the top of the Discuss tank they will grow all over the top of the lid and the roots will grow down into the water and behind the bog wood, I think that'll good super cool and give the whole set up that splash of green without making a difference to the fish colouration, anyway its still a nice tank as is
Merry Christmas George your tanks are absolutely beautiful I’m thinking of switching over my 37 gallon planted tank to a cichlid tank like your 175 liter you say it’s under stocked how many fish could I stock in a 37 Gallon tank I think you should do a planted tank on your Rimless tank Thanks George

What do you do for a living to have such a wonderful house full of wonderful toys?
Aquascaping
@@GeorgeFarmerStudios cool! To make a living in scaping! Just keep diversifying.
The discus are very happy, you like it too, what's not too like.
we have a miniature schnauzer and she is adorable and she is such a great indoor dog cause it doesn't shed fur.

Big Cube 50×50×50 cm = Perfect Cube aquarium !

Who’d have thought there’d be a time when there wasn’t any high tech scapes in the Farmer household 😂😂.
Tanks are on point and the fish are stunning.
I love your videos! Thank you so much for making them. Wishing you all the best!
A nice big piece of red lava rock placed on the left to disguise the outlet and the dry box would enhance the discus tank.
About to turn my waterbox 3618 into a chindongo saulosi tank! You have always a inspired me George! I really enjoyed seeing you aquascape a aquarium in Chicago a couple of years ago.
In regards to the discuss tank I would say if the fish are happy then keep it how it is, looks great and the fish are beautiful mate

The Discus tank is perfect the way it is, for the new tank i'd say Biotope. Wish you and your beautiful fam a Merry Christmas. 🍾
Lovely tanks pal, I would take 2 of the discus out and put some corys in
For fish colours to be vivid yes you need a bright/light coloured substrate or your fish will naturally blend to their surroundings...
The discuss camouflage to their background, the most effective thing you can do is try changing the black background into a whitish background.
Looking forward to that Malawi-tank (and thats from a Tanganyika fan) 😂😃 Marry Christmas, George.
Beautiful Video ❤️
i love your place, full of inspiration. so excited to see cichlids new setup . discus tank need lot of plants like anubias , ferns, moss, buce.. so excited to see new beauties with you legend... goldy
Super Bravo !
Merry Christmas, George. After 4 years in the hobby, you are still one of my favourites! Betty seems like a gem; I'm glad she and Tommy are getting along.
Amazing tanks mate. Top job. Discuss tank is the best among them all.
That fresh canvas i would courious what you would make of a Malaysian/Indonesian peat swamp forrest inspired set up.
Looking good George!

I think the discus tank could use a handful of Amazon swords, something tall and vertical they can weave in and out of.
add some ferns and anubis to the discus tank. will be perfect
Species only Hillstream loach biotope :) try for some breeding
Merry Christmas! Thanks for sharing all your tanks. I love that little crystal cube.
I think I would add more epiphyte plants to the discus tank to show what can be done in a low tech tank. I thought you had Amano shrimp in there and it would increase their grazing area. I do like the light sand for the discus.

I like the discus tank
I would add a lot more anubias on the driftwood for the discus tank. Other than that, it looks great
What about a Dutch style scape ??BTW merry Christmas to you and yours George and a peaceful New year
Can you use Fritz complete cleaner to clean the interior glass surface?
Merry Christmas George. Can’t wait to see what you do in the new year! Cheers!

Great tour, merry christmas george hope you and family have a great one, defently got to go full nature style for the new 60cm 😁
Stunning. Your home is stunning too. New sub.
Merry Christmas George, thank you for all the great vids mate. 🌿
I love fishkeepers thar keep their fish forever!
How about an iwagumi layout for the scaperline 60, George?
The tanks look amazing if you enjoy The discus tank the way it is that's all that matters cuz you have to look at it every single day
I am writing as someone who turned from a fish breeder to an aquascaper, I am very happy that you started to engage with other species. Really sorry to hear about your discus. I recently lost a fish that fought hard to survive. Amazing creatures and being a fish keeper can be very rewarding
My experience with discus is that bare bottom tank is better since less work for maintenance and they are very sensitive fish
Envious of your discus tank...I have an evolution aqua 900 with 5 discus. I've noticed you have shrimp in your tank. when you worm your discus, does the dewormer harm the shrimps??
Brilliant!!! I would love to see a South American biotope in the beautiful tank!!
Awesome stuff, love seeing your room, that tropica nano tank is amazing
Diskus Tank looks perfect…
Had one too ! It ist Not easy to keep plants with stendkerfish in one Tank …
The gallery is looking beautiful buddy! I'd love to see a classic Amano recreation in the new Oase rimless. I think it's an amazing idea! Merry Christmas to you and your family as well brotha! 💚❤🌿
I have to agree on the Amano Tank that would look great
I love and would keep the discus like that, even without plants it looks so beautifull.. One I will rescape my eheim 250 and keep chindongo saulosi. Those fish look amazing and Im looking forward to the roomdivider! Grtz
I’m so envious! Really top tanks. When I win the lottery, I will build an aquarium with my house inside it 😊
Loved all of them... saulosis tank its amazing they will be better in a bigger one for shure, and the discus tank its stunning.💪😉
Why do the discuss have cloudy eyes? x
Hi George, I have followed your Cichlid tank and was inspired when creating my own to then plant as originally it was going to be bare hardscape. Love the discus tank 🤩😍 what are the water parameters?
My opinion is that the discus tank in not overstock. And as far as changes I would add a few more anubias here and there and add another dozen or so to your school. Maybe cardinals to add a bit more color. I have a huge school (150ish) of cardinals and rummy nose in my 220g discus tank and it looks incredible. But since I am not as talented as you with plants I can only grow anubias and Java fern in it because of the 83f water temp.
You should do some kind of Asian biotope in the rimless
I'd love to see the discus tank planted again but keeping the sand!
Amazing tanks, George! You’re an inspiration!
nice work!
As far as Discus are concerned mate I think you’ve got it bang on i’m a breeder and a keeper may be great some of the new person on the wood one or two big bunches but the fish or the star of the show. And as long as you’re on top of your maintenance which you obviously are your stocking level is perfect you could probably get away with one or two more if you wanna put the extra work in keep up the good work my man Merry Christmas and happy New Year
Hi George.
Happy Christmas to you and your family.
I think I would rescape the Discus aquarium with plenty of epiphyte plants and keep substrate light in colour. 🙂
Dont touch The discus tank. it's great. Maybe some light plants on The woods or just a "Amazonian blade"
You just hit the same challenge many others have. Do you make a great planted tank, or a great Discus tank? They may be close, but those two goals are just far enough apart to make it a real challenge.
Everything else is your usual impeccable talent and taste. And I'm glad to hear you're not rehoming the fish, but choosing to transfer them. To many in this hobby treat fish and plants as disposable, rather than the living creatures whose well being and responsibility we have assumed as pets. We're supposed to get attached.
I'm always happy to hear you advocating for their well being, rather than just seeing them as décor.
(And I'd leave the Discus numbers where they are. That tank is fine, despite possible criticism. And they are a communal species. Reduce the group too small, and you'll induce behavioral issues over time. That group looks well established and healthy, why upset that?)

George how are the oase range of filters have gone up by about 3x in price.

Keep the discus tank as it is
I recently purchased your aquascaping book. There's a picture of your 85 gallon tank right at the beginning which has monte carlo growing on a rock. How did you attach the monte carlo onto the rock?
Pushed it into place!
I love the discus tank. The fisk look incredible and the tank really highlights their colours and beauty. I prefer this to a heavily planted discus tank for sure.
What filter will you use on that un-scaped 60p there?
Wooowww so beautiful
