- Bristol Motor Speedway, a storied track with the nickname “America’s Night Race” where cars average a speed of over 100 miles per hour on the just over ½ mile oval track. The Speedway is known as the Last Great Colosseum. It is also where Virginia Tech and Tennessee broke the college football attendance record. With the Reds and Braves announcing that they would be playing a baseball game at the Speedway next year, I thought it was the right time to go back and look at the Battle of Bristol. A football game unlike anything else

Make this an annual event! Get Tennessee, VTech, North Carolina, Duke, NC State, & Virginia to rotate as the teams involved. Make it a Week 0 opening game, like the game in Ireland

I’m all for having games here more often, but as someone from Bristol, UT and VT are THE teams here. I don’t think any other pairing would be nearly as successful

I'm from Johnson City, just down the road from Bristol. I'm not a fan of the either team but I couldn't miss this one. Such a great game and event in general.
FYI another reason they used Bristol is its divided by State St almost in the middle. Half in TN half in VA.

Not trying to be discouraging or appear as a hater, but he really needs to work on his narration. Every sentence has the same tone pattern: start high, make it sound a question, and then go to a low tone that almost sounds like he’s not even interested in his own script. I hope he tries to add more of his personality to videos like this.

We travelled from nashville for this game and its still the most insane game ive ever been to. The stadium was so huge i felt like i was in a city of football.
The year Tennessee should've won the East, but a Butch Jones led team can only go so far. Had so much talent and didn't know what to do with it.

8:56 This game completely changed when Wyatt Teller got flagged for back to back unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and the Hokies never got back on track the rest of the game.
I got to march in the game following the Battle of Bristol, it was surreal experience to march in a racetrack!

Great video but you should’ve mentioned Virginia Tech G Wyatt Teller getting 2 cut blocking penalties in a row. It killed all of Tech’s momentum after going up 14-0

I think it would be better if two teams that could match up well against each other played. Tennessee would obviously beat Kentucky they always do.

i was in middle school and worked this game and was able to get in for free after and jus wow.. i still remember the expierence like it was yesterday.
I was at this game, special memory for sure.
I live right in the middle of these 2 schools. 2 1/2 for me to get to each school so for my area this was a huge deal.

As a hokies fan I did not understand all the fumbles. It mad me so mad we had momentum in such a big stage and just lose the ball in key moments

Talladega seats 90,000 after Allison Stands torn down. But they can get over 200,00 fans with temp seats down back stretch. Then jam up infield with super sized screens and more fans., S.E.C. has got to pull this off. 200,000 beer fueled fans,100,000 not liking the other 100,000 one tiny bit. Thanksgiving weekend, world's largest R V Park and Campground, thousands of fried turkeys, B B Q, 5 days and nights of total mayhem, one huge Jesus Revival on Sunday, Kenny and Jason in concert, passing the hats for Wounded Warrior, U.S.O.,and T to T.
