Twice Dr. Heiser used the term "daughters in law" in reference to the incident with Lot after the destruction of Sodom. Have I missed something here? Is there some textual variant/grammatical/vocabulary issue? For the text, in English, says "daughters" not "daughters in law" (Genesis 19:30ff). So what have I missed?

Dr. Heiser misunderstood Josh's question. He compared the destruction of the world in Genesis to the destruction of Sodom which came BEFORE the sexual sins, not after. It is interesting that in both cases, it's incest that is involved.
Ezekiel 16 48-50 G-d says why he destroyed Sodom #1 Pride #2 Fullness of food #3 abundance of idleness #4 did not help the poor #5 Arrrogance #6 Abominations....we tend to dwell on the sexual sins but when things get that bad its a result of the other five sins before it. Just read the list and look at America today..so no it wasnt just the sexual sin it was the whole fullness of the iniquity and not enough righteous.

Seriously, the final question about Lot and his drunkenness and sexual encounters with his daughters is hardly something to consider sin. He just lost his wife, possessions, livelihood and everything he owned, so he got drunk. Anyone probably would go the same! He was taken advantage of by his two daughters because they thought the whole world was wiped out! So they likely thought it was the only means of producing the promised redeemer. Lot is called righteous by God in the New Testament.
It was sin.
Not everyone gets drunk when they go through horrible situations. Most of us don’t drink to begin with.
RE QUMRAN: they also correctly anticipated that Messiah would be in the Melchizedekian Priesthood!
One might say the remaining fall feasts have to do with the last message being preached to a dying world.
And the fact that Christ will come and take his people and judge the world and set the world back to it's prefall perfection.
