Remember: early to bed.. early to rise: makes a man healthy wealthy and wise.
Forcing "Night owls" to wake uo early has sever health effects.
Thats called sleep deprivation lol
How early?
I work 12am-8am because my only other option was to get furloughed and eventually laid-off.
Depends if you are a lark or an owl
I need this.
How to build Self-discipline:
1. Confidence.
2. Goals to improve yourself.
3. Work hard. Accept the struggle. Which builds character.
4. Life is not fair, so don't give up.
I think we all need this - Great video
You need self discipline to get yourself to work hard. Rather circular isn't it?
Everything is fair, because you reap what you sow.
Basically it’s about taking responsibility of yourself.
You don't know what confidence actually is. If you're a looser your confident in being a looser. Confidence means you are aware of your value. You can only be confident in being strong Basen on former archievememts
His strength is in his calmness. Which is a lesson to us all.
My Grandfather once said... if you can look at your current life and compare it to the year before, and things now are better, you're doing great!
Good video!
I needed to read that, thank you
Thank you for sharing your Grandfathers advice. It is simple and good advice.
Thank you compassionate soul. 😊🙏❤
Grandpa also said:
"When you help someone and they thank you, or offer to repay you, tell them to 'pay it forward' and help others in need. That way the kindness spreads and makes your part of the world a little better." 😊
This guy is inspirational...
Truth.we need more like him and after him. Those virtues are taken for granted and its hard to find honest people.we always verify what we hear because we can't trust 100%.
Outstanding Sir, Norway and the Norwegian's should be grateful and proud that they can produce a man like you, 👍😁🔨🌲🇮🇪
When I ran track a few centuries ago my coach gave me some advice. I boiled it down into three rules for success.
1)You will fail. You can't win every time. DON'T QUIT!
2) You will have to do alot of things over and over to the point of exhaustion and boredom. DON'T QUIT!
3) Distractions will appear as will obstacles. Stay focused on the goals and... DON'T QUIT!
we have an immortal or a vampire in our midst
@@timdumler5628 I hope the person means "decades" LOL!A life "might" seem like it's THAT long (centuries).
*a lot* is two words. Lot begins with an L, not an A.
"ACCEPT THE STRUGGLE" --Wisest words ever spoken about self-discipline. A lot of people think self-disciplined people enjoy torturing themselves for higher gain. They don't enjoy it more than you, they just know that it will be worth it and they have their mind set on the end goal. They accept that it is a struggle, and breaking through or overcoming that struggle is the payoff.
Undisciplined people can't accept the struggle. To them struggle = failure, and they quit before they even get the payoff because they don't want to struggle at something. And so, they struggle with regret, being unsatisfied, unhappy, and fantasizing about what they want in life instead of getting it, and possibly cheating or stealing to get it. Kinda backwards if you think about it.
I love this. So insightful. Thank you for sharing.
Like sportsmen. Lots of struggle but geared towards a fulfilling goal. Wish that mentality could be taught in schools.
You literally read my mind mate...
Having parents and grandparents who grew up in Communist Yugoslavia, I grew up with the mindset of blaming other things and other people for my failures. It's key to search where you yourself did something wrong and fix it, my life greatly improved after realizing it. Great videos, I always drop what I'm doing to tune in.
Good to take responsibility.
Most of ex yugos are like that, it is always someone else's fault !
You can’t fix your issues if you don’t own them.
I think we should all go to bjorn in norway and we can all live off grid with him ,how nice is that thought xx uk
Don't avoid all adversity, but, DO carefully pick your battles.
Dan Templeton good advice you can’t die on every hill.
@Max OnFire VIKINGS TYPE IN ALL CAPS.
Yes, some people think that to succeed and discipline is just winning all battles. There will always be someone better than us. I believe that intelligence is to choose carefully all the battles of life.
@Max OnFire Hi, Max! How are you? I read The Art of War, is a incredible book! I will read the others, tks!!
Gabriel exactly.
I 100% agree about waking up early. It feels so fulfilling to start working at 5 am and get a full day's work done by noon.
Dustin Yarc - Freelance Writer I’m the same. I’m up at around 4 to 4.30. My woman sleeps in till 8. 😎
I've heard this so many times, yet I selfishly protect every single minute of my time in bed! I guess a routine would help
I do it the opposite way. I prefer to work at night as my energy is higher and I like the solitude. I've never been able to train myself to rise early, my natural rhythm just doesn't go that way.
Some people are wired to be more creative and productive in the witching hours. It’s so much easier to focus with the rest of the world asleep. There is no static of cares and dogs and bill collectors or appointments. Think about it, even during the time of cavemen , someone had to be wired to be nocturnal to protect the cave from sabertooth tigers while everyone else was asleep.
Hey look at the guy's picture commenting below you (John Acord) it's u 10 years later.
The one area MOST people lack self-discipline is with their diet.
A bad diet will screw up everything, even ironically your ability to be self-disciplined.
actually thats true. diet definitely alters your brain.
Also in dick control, discipline could stop unwanted pregnancy and the baby murder.
True, ever since I quit added sugar (basically everything except for veggies, some fruits and meat) I have so much more energy, it's crazy. I keep telling people to try quitting but this stuff has many people locked in the up/down loop, so they can't get anything done, let alone get excited about anything. Literally everything in my life is better now.
Diet and exercise.
Agreed! It's kind of a catch 22 for me.
Very wise words, said in calmness and thoughtfulness.
I mean i loved my dad, but he never really took his time to talk to us about life...i wish he would...
Likewise. He taught me how to use tools and to build like a man, very grateful. But he never taught me how to be a man mentally and emotionally...

I wish this guy had been my father. So jealous of his children.
Being envious & wanting to emulate someone is the highest form of flattery! Use that inspiration for benefit!
Me too l like this guy and why is it that common sense needs to be rediscovered?
I often have to recall the good & bad things of my childhood & apply them to how I want to live my life & raise my son.
Saskia Ehlers I wish he was my husband, or I could find a good man like him .
That is actually sad af man.. although this aged Norwegian guy is cool and has quality, I'd say my Englishman dad was X10 better than him. No offence intended, I just looked up to my dad so much, he was older and very wise, died when I was 18 at age 77 from cancer. To put into context he was like Gandalf.. Without the beard and hair, I will never, ever think that anyone is better than him, Gandalf comes close though 🙄😄
"Accept the struggle", probably the most important peice of advice here.
@Barthelemy you dont think christ struggled as he was being executed on the cross? You don't understand your own religion
That depends on what the struggle is, sometimes we all need help
Very inspiring. I always have plenty of goals but I’ve always lacked confidence. That has been one of the major obstacles in my life. You channel is great, thank you for this video 🙏🏻✨🌲
You can start with your collection of virtues and values. Build strength by studying/applying action according to a moral code. Good leaders have code. Kindness, charity, helping others is high worth. We are what we do. Listening is highly underrated. Keeping a journal is good. Taking time for your mental, physical and emotional health. Cut out toxic people and influence and distractions. Downsize life if necessary. Set small goals. Work strong sleep well. Realize that we are all in same condition. And people need your inspiration too. Holy cow keep smiling.

@ that's because those sociopaths, and psychopaths view us as objects to manipulate and move around. They dont even view us as human. And they derive joy from people's pain.
An old saying I've heard from many different people all my life is: If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every single time.
Bjorn's demeanor and the calming way he talks make him a joy to listen to. On top of that what he says makes a lot of sense and he is full of good advice.
I now have a goal: Survival. I work 7 days a week to garden and stockpile food and wood for heat next Winter. My determination and emerging garden gives me Confidence.
I struggle everyday with chronic pain and fatigue. I have been pushing myself as of late trying to do a little more and be a little better everyday
All the best.
Stay strong friend. I also have chronic intense pain in the form of random intense burning hives. It doesn’t get easier, but we can become stronger. Have faith.
Slow & steady does it. Research holistic health modalities that may give you short or even long term relief.
@Freshy Dinks same
@Douglas E. Heeren I will do that. I have been trying just about everything natural. thanks for the advice
I'll share this here. I have tried boxing amateur competitively, at the age of 22 and I wasn't very good at at it. I lost all of my bouts. I found that people generally were more inclined to make fun of me for my poor record than give me some credit for the fact that I tried competing in a very hard sport. A sport which these people who would make fun of me themselves would never attempt. Then 22 years later at the age of 44 I decided to have another attempt at the sport of amateur boxing and my only goal was to get just one win. But I didn't want the first win on my record to be against an inexperienced competitor who was having his first bout aged in his 40s because what sense of satisfaction would there be in that? I asked to be matched against a more experienced opponent as long as I didn't give away too much weight, because my belief is size does matter. There is also no shame in losing to a more experienced opponent. My first boxing bout in 22 years was against a more experienced opponent and I lost. But my second opponent in 22 years was also more experienced. But I was too determined to lose that bout. I was out of bed at 5am every morning and jogging and sprinting. I was 100% focused in my preparation for that bout . I won that bout on points, not because I was a more talented boxer than my opponent, but because I was way too fit for him. I didn't stop throwing punches from the start of each round to the end of each round.
At least you stepped into the arena, many people never do. Remember that tom cruise movie GATACA??? He is swimming in the ocean against his perfect, genetically engineered brother and wins. When asked how he won, his answer was "I didn't save anything for the trip home".

You left out one important point. Have a routine.
John Acord routine routine routine. Even if it’s the same small tasks every day at least you did them.
Thus, I wake "early" (not as early as him LoL) get dressed and make the bed. Every morning. Even when I am sick or have been recovering from surgery. Keep that routine !
True. Routines built around goals.people have routines without goals, just drifting through the day or maybe they haven't updated their goals and created new routines.

We are in for a greater fight than the world has ever seen. It’s good to be fighting this battle together! This war will require more than just physical skills! We will need to stay alert and with goals we will stay consciencely alert! Look forward to your videos and your words!
Thank you for sharing your philosophy. I love seeing the woods in your videos. Nature is a gift of life.
Self control, like common sense a very rare thing indeed! If we all had self control and common sense what a different place the world would be. Wish our leaders had your attitude to life but it is not PC enough for them. As a naturalised Australian, born in England I regret to see the British " stiff upper lip" vanishing. Upbringing too helps self control. As a child in England in the early 1940s if I got upset about something petty my parents would say "put some iron in your backbone" Probably the best advice possible, especially during wartime. As an old man the state of the world causes me sorrow. Anyhow Bjorn keep up your good work! All the best, stay safe and well. ATB.

to hear ''when i was a kid, i did a lot of cross-country skiing. we had a lot more snow back then...'', think about it, and recall my own more recent and empty youth is such a sad and existentially frightening thing.
I remember having a white Christmas every year as a kid. It's been about 10 years since the last one. Often we don't get our first snow until mid January anymore. I really hope that a good thing can come out of this virus crisis and we will have more people ready to make their goal "make the pollution drop we had in 2020 permanent"

Most people, I have found, wake up in the morning and take whatever life has given them. No plan, no drive and no willingness to change so that they can have a better life because they lack vision. I agree with most things you say and this is spot on!

I love your philosophy. It is very similar to my late father's. I owe it to him that I never give up. My son has learned this from me, his Mum. He took up powerlifting a couple of years ago. He knows that the path of least resistance - both in the literal sense and the metaphorically - does not lead to achievement and self-worth. His girlfriend powerlift trains with him. My fiancee passed away 2 and a half years ago and I have been dwelling on that too much recently (lock down life 🤔) , so I needed your good advice today that life is a daily test, it is how each of us manages that struggle which enables us to carry on achieving and growing. My usual ethos is 'Get up and show up'. It is for this reason I set out on hill and mountain hikes, often alone and a bit scared. But I know it will build character and it's a good example to my son. We all need some encouragement from time to time. Thank you for being my mentor today. Onwards and upwards!

J. A. I used to be an extreme owl, most productive between midnight and 5 am, peaked around 2 am. In my 60s I suddenly became a day person! Took awhile to adjust!
@9:06: This is life. The struggle and pain and enduring hardships that forge the steel, that burn away the impurities of doubt and self loathing in it’s crucible to reveal the character and discipline of the person. I joined the service for those very reasons so I could learn that.
love ya Bjorn!!
Thank you for such wise words. I have been very lucky, and have skills, gifts really, which inspire me. Once I begin a project, I can hardly stop until it is done, like learning a tune on an instrument, and I play about 4, or taking on a young or difficult horse, I stay at it until it is done. I do love a challenge. Did a bit of cross-country skiing, every morning and evening to work, in Perisher Valley where I was a lift operator, had to set off before the lifts opened. Then I'd change to my downhills and "ski my butt off" in my breaks. Getting back in the evening was downhill on cross-country skis, always an adventure. I do look forward to your videos Bjorn, love the channel.
I always look forwards to your videos. I like your stoic approach.

I enjoyed this message and agree with you 100 percent. As for not blaming others for our problems, something I have used to build my self confidence and overcome adverse situations and or relationships, is Take Responsibility for yourself, and your life, and how you rea
, react to any situation.
