Paganism is a very personal experience. You’ll seldom find someone trying to convert you to the old ways. It’s something that you discover on your own that is influenced by the way you view the world around you.
This is why living surrounded by concrete and glass is so utterly depressing, to be cut off from nature, to be seperated from it, kills the soul.

Exactly. If you take a closer look to the old religions you can see there are similiarities to each other.
One exampled being the winged celestial horse - Tulpar (Turkic Mythology), Pegasus (Greek Mythology), Devadatta (Hindu mythology)
Other gods and goddesses representing various nature deities, war gods... the list goes on and on.

I live in Australia. My wife and I are Christians and our kids. But I am very aware that my ancestors worshipped Woden (Odin) and Thunor (Thor) - it became apparent when I realised what the days of the week in English meant. It looks like heaven! Cheers.

These are people who have returned to their old roots. They have returned to nature and the truth about their origins. More and more people are talking about it. It is said that once upon a time, only one population of the same culture lived in Europe. So the symbols or the symbolism was one in the whole territory of Europe. I could tell you a lot more. But first I would like to say the following. You brought this closer and clarified it so nicely. Thank you very much. Give me more stories like this. Post from the Balkans...
If you can't appreciate your own cultural heritage, you don't really respect anyone else's.
Everybody has the absolute right to determine their own spiritual path. Kudos for having the guts to tell us about yours.
Beyond that, people have a need to do so. One of the important things I note is that culture requires a certain amount of separation, or it disappears. Not isolationism... just some space preserved/left alone, and a culture is preserved. Globalism is the smashing of separation, and will not serve us well. People need to remember the paths their family came through.
No one has any rights. Not even to breathe or beat your heart. When I was five years old my mother took me to see The Vikings at the theatre. It deeply affected me. At around 17 years -old I began to lean strongly toward Paganism and have been a Pagan my entire life. I will soon be 69 years-old. When my mother was 90 she mentioned her mother's family did not care for her father who was born in Kiev. She said they called him a "Rus." She had no idea what that meant. After she passed I was in a bookstore and bought a huge book on Viking history. I was sitting in my mountain cabin having a Martini and literally spit it across the room when I got to the section on the Kievan Rus. Then I realized my paternal Grandfather also had Viking blood, having come from Riga. What "silent knowledge" in my blood awakened a five year-old boy cannot be ignored.

I went to Uppsala, and I bought a wrought iron Mjolnir necklace, that I wear everyday. It's been about 9 years now. I spent my first night in Malmo. I walked around perfectly safe, and enjoyed the beautiful town. The news I read these days about Malmo makes me very sad.
Also from Alaska and also pagan
@@wesley7879 i see paganism is growing steadily here in alaska skol
I want to visit alaska, i think our ancestors would love it there
What a nice trip! I hope to visit Scandinavia someday. Hopefully things change for the better there.
I live in the MatSu Valley.
Felt right at home there, didn't ya?!
I'm a middle-aged Norse pagan as well. I, too, am seeing a huge surge in the old beliefs. Thank you for your videos. They are an inspiration!
Me? I'm a middle edged Frenchman. I believe in frenchiness and humiliated britons. I shall therefore abid to my own torical awesomeness to inspire all kinds of things around France's immediate French viscinity. Might even choose to found the march of the danes myself. Just to make sure everybody keeps believing Danemark (true spelling as far as Charlemagne is concerned) is a part of germaneeric influence. Also, I watched the word Franchise being born myself, back in the daze. Yes!
There's a reason why time buried ancient paganism deep within our past. This "surge" in neo-paganism won't last since the originals couldn't pass the test of time.
@wilka171 Islam is the world's fastest-growing religion whereas paganism is not. Christianity is growing fast outside the West. Again. Time buried dead pagan religions for a reason. It's never coming back.
@daniellinley2706 Irrelevant. Unless you defeat the woketards that controls Western culture, everything you said is a childish dream.
@daniellinley2706 Irrelevant. It's been dead for centuries. You proclaiming it can be "resurrected" because people out there preserved the stories doesn't mean a thing. The old gods are dead and buried and lost in time. No one actually cares anymore.
That part about taking pride in your culture is really great and something I strongly agree with.
_Every single_ country that was involved to any notable degree in WWII has lost most or all pride and nationalism.
Certain people these days talk a lot about 'Diversity' but the diversity the advocate for destroys true diversity. If you have a rainbow of different paints, and you throw them all in a bucket and mix them together, they all disappear into one boring, mucky brown.
True diversity, beautiful diversity, is born of division and isolation. I want the world to once again be filled with divided, isolated, nationalistic countries. Unique cultures, languages, etc.
I hate technology and that plays a part in this, but I'll cut it off there.
George Soros would want otherwise.
Finally europe is returning to its pagan glory
tusend takk, Bjorn for showing us these beautiful landmarks. it is wondrous to see our ancestral treasures.
Much love to you my brother across the sea....keep doing what your doing...
@@mathhewmeischen5070 thanks friend.
Well said my friend! I see it happening here in the US as well, people are returning to their roots and it's amazing to see. I've been following Norse Paganism very closely since I was 13, but I got to have my amazing grandparents in my life until just a few years ago. My mothers parents were Danish & Swedish, my fathers parents were German & Finnish, so I was blessed to grow up hearing about where and how they grew up, and even stories of the Gods.
Judeo-messianism has spread its poisonous message among us for nearly two thousand years. Democratic and communist universalisms are more recent, but they have only come to reinforce the old Jewish narrative. These are the same ideals.
That is awesome, Amanda.
As an American with a Northern European heritage, I cannot say enough how empty this nation feels, spiritually and culturally.
There is no community of like-minded individuals, people are atomized and pit against each other in a rat race without an end, except the release of death. European Americans are discriminated against ceaselessly, by virtually every established institution and our forebears demonized, we are a conquered nation. Unlike us over here, you all in Europe have a chance to preserve and advance your people, don't waste the opportunity.
I'm not religious, nor spiritual, anymore, as I cannot find truth anywhere. The old ways are fascinating, but too many, for lack of better words, LARPers (not you, nor other like you), have made them unattractive, and everyone seems to think they "know" "the" "way", when it seems dogmatic and superficial. I do think Nature is as close as we can get to the supernatural, as it truly is wonderous, but other than that, I have no clue what resonates with me anymore. Just empty.
Best wishes to you all on your journey.
With all the craziness in the news, it's better to get out in nature and watch the trees in the wind. See how the birds sing, where moss covers our past. We can reach out and touch it, connect, if we choose to.
This video was perfection, I couldn't have said it any better.
Thank you so much.
Christianity being judged by very non-christian actions, plus even some things from over more than 100 generations ago, and what happened is not the instructions in the bible!
And what about what the pagans did, the vikings did, invading and plundering and killing and stealing and axing anyone in their way, and institutionalized human sacrifices in bogs. Paganism is not innocent!
Great video! Being born in the U.S., I didn't have the cultural past of my ancestors around me as you do. When Asatru found me, a few years shy of 30 years ago, I was an 18 year old kid living in Colorado. It definitely wasn't hard to find that spiritual connection with the Norse Gods within the Rocky Mountains. Once I found it, it didn't really matter where I lived as I brought it with me. You comment about Native Americans really rang true with me too. The sense of Tribe and Culture that they have really seems to reflect what our Pagan ancestors' lives were like on the other side of the world.
Who is Asatru and how did he find you? How did you know it was him and not someone else?
If you are blocking people and calling them trolls because they are simply disagreeing with your historical analysis then that's on you...
But it was pagans that persecuted Christians, not the other way round.
I subscribed to you because I liked that you spoke out against the forced "medicine"
But that doesn't doesn't I will agree with this false take on history prompted by Gibbon and his followers. Read Tom Holland
We can both (Christians and pagans) work together against the modern corporations but don't pretend to make yourself the historic victim
I left Christianity decades ago, and am a Zen Buddhist now. Your descriptions of Nature are similar to want many Zens belief, in terms of what is called the Tao. I think many people are realizing that these gods we have created are symbols, and they are all highly symbolic of what we should have been revering all along - Nature. We did not come into the Earth, we came out of it, and the elements that we're made of came from the stars. I applaud you and the message in this video!, and you have me thinking about my heritage. Thanks!
I guess that explains why i tend to throw organic trash to my garden and turn it into compost
Living here in Britain Celtic and pagan culture has always interested me the lovely swirls in the art it has this feeling of being connected to nature with no straight edges
Anglo-Saxon paganism too
the spiral !
I am of Scandinavian - Germanic decent. The rest of me is of indigenous American lineage. When I see stone circles and earthen mounds, I too am at a loss for words. It's hard to fathom the people that came before us and what they endured to get us to where we are now. I'm ever grateful to my past kin.
Thank you for this. You have said what some people (myself included) find hard to put into words.
Fascinating to see these stone circles, and I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts. I'd not seen these before, I love how well preserve they are. You get multiple circles close together occasionally in the UK too, usually in threes, but none as well preserved and undisturbed as these. I love that you walked around and not through them by the way.
Thank you for this video. I have felt a pull to my ancestors for most of my life but about 10 years ago I began my journey back.
Thanks Bjorn. Needed to hear that. Your appreciation of the circles and reverence of nature is truly inspiring and makes me wonder what I, of European decent, have lost from the old ways. I have always had a kindred connection with nature, trees, woods and water and look highly upon the indigenous ways of were I live now-North America. Cheers
You're an American just go out and wash your car again for the hundredth time and make sure to suck up to the HOA.... you have your own forests and hieroglyphs written in the deserts of Arizona so just get out of your mom's basement and do something for once
Hello Bjorn it's been about 10 years now when i found my way back home to my Pagan past and the ancestors so thank you for this video Hail to the Hammer
Thank you brother. You know it's authentic when the feeling is so great it lacks words.
This, above all, is one of my favorite videos of yours. Thank you for saying what needed to be said. Looking for my pagan roots was quite the task, like grasping backwards into the fog of history. But I did find it, and it saved my world.
Thank you Bjorn!
How did you do it? What was some of the hardest parts? are there some areas you still arent settle on? thank you for answering if you have the time!
Many people say that if you are different religion, and not one of the three Abrahamic Religions…(Jewish, Christian, Islam)…..then you are pagan.
So ancient Norse religion, Ancient Greek religion, Celtic, Wicca, Buddhism, ancient Roman religion, Hinduism, ancient American native religions, ancient Egyptian, native African etc….. are all Pagan.
Personally….I am Theravada Buddhist. If Christians, Jews, and Moslems want to call me “pagan”…..okay… fine. I’m very happy being Buddhist, and not one of the three Abrahamic Religions.
Thank you Bjørn, your words are full of wisdom. Blessings…..☸️ 🙂
As the wise says they did not destroyed paganism, but rather adopt it. There also Yahweh with Asherah edited or react out of the bible. A wife and 4 trinity........
It no different than Viking ones. Yet they claimed to be true monotheistic 😂😂😂😂. I felt sad for you guys for christian strike
I just discovered your blog, what a lucky find! Finally someone who makes sense, so important to make the distinction between religion and spirituality, they are simply not the same.
I have a Norwegian friend I met online playing video games we game most nights and have done for about a year now.
After watching a few of your videos I definitely see some similarities in your general attitude and behaviour you remind me of him you seem to talk with a sense of calm and wisdom at all times even when your annoyed or angry you still come across as very calm and reserved very pleasant to be around and very likeable people.
My family tree is pretty much 99% English with the exception being my great grandmother who was Norwegian!
I live in Kyoto, Japan, and I see millions of tourists from everywhere visiting are fascinated to visit Shinto shrines which are pagan. Japan was one of the few countries which could avoid Christianity by closing the country off from all foreigners for a couple of hundred years. Paganism is making a general return to the earth. For example, Japanese anime contain worlds (sometimes disguised) of pagan, animistic and magical beliefs based on nature goddesses and gods. The return of paganism in Europe fits in with this global trend.
I do research on paganism in popular culture and I found that the movie Star Wars in 1977 signals the return of the Divine Feminine. I think nature spirituality is important. I found that Shakespeare was a pagan too. And in his work he predicts the return of paganism and witchcraft. (Witchcraft means paganism but no clerics, no large scale organized religion. Large-scale organized religion with clerics, no matter pagan or not, could be a problem because clerics make connections to politicians). I am much more comfortable without groups and clerics.
Thank you for this video, I think it's so important to explore this topic because our natural world is our only home.
As always sir, I thank you for these talks. It makes my heart glad to know that I am not alone with these thoughts in my mind. Thank you sir.
I enjoy your channel, views & natural setting. Thank you for sharing & creating these content videos.
Very, very Beautiful!! 💜🌞🏵🌸🌳🍀🥀Grateful for your share! 🙏
Thank you for mentioning the celts Bjorn, my family is deeply Celtic in practice. We never went away.
yep, we still hanging in there
Excellent video, more of this! I agree and feel exactly the same, my roots are deeply Scandinavian, everyone should be proud of their heritage and culture like this.
So awesome to learn you are a fellow heathen.
I have enjoyed a few of your videos for other topics and was thrilled to learn this.
Gives me joy to learn of others.
"I don't think any less of other cultures just because I'm proud of who I am. It's the opposite. It's the opposite. I feel secure in myself because I have strong roots."
- Bjørn Andreas Bull-Hansen
Well said! 🔥
