Now that is what you call laying down some onions right there! Great team work done right here folks! Can't wait to see them all growing! Thanks for the ride along. Hope the family has a wonderful week. :-)
Geez - and I though I *MASS PLANTED* onions!! There is so much amazing in this video. Family time, growing food, spending time outside. Amazing. Didn't have your bell rung, so hopefully I start getting notifications now!
This is great, you would not have to struggle immigrants to do the job, teach youngsters the way you are doing and they will follow in the future, knowing that anyone can do any job and make money...i hope am right and not offensive
Seriously cool video y'all, like the concept of planting in the plastic, really like the machinery ya used to plant your onions!! Thanks for the share!! Dan
Well alright then, that's how it's done!! Impressive system, and well done to the helpers. I think one had a wee nap, lol. I'll be doing much less than 10000 but will have the joy of doing it all by hand haha. Have a great evening folks:))
Dixondale farms recommends cutting off most of the roots... That way they put out new roots and grow faster... It also makes planting much faster and easier... Dixondale Farms has many good RUclips video on growing their onions... I grow them their way and get two pound onions all are about the size of a softball and larger... Some 6 inches across...
The Neals' Homestead, because you have small humans to help. By the last season Isaac and I were fast at it, but it didn't make it any more enjoyable. I'd say the number of onions being planted makes a difference too.
Yes, we can, and did shut the water down. I like it high do that we can put a good amount of water in the hole. We were about 1/4 mile from the refill place and we were using the water up to fast. Thanks for watching and commenting. - Janette
That is a lot of onions! Do you sell all of them or do you keep some? I guess I am wondering if you have a personal use garden as well as planting to sell?
We eat as many as we can. These are extra sweet onions and don't keep well. I'm always sad when we run out. There are a few things we grow for ourselves only but mostly we eat the things that are grown to sell. Thank you! - Janette

You know kids, endless energy when they're playing... exhausted when there's work to do. Lol Thank you for watching and commenting. - Janette
This was very interesting and educational. I hope you do a harvest video. I would love to see what you get. What kind are those white onions?
They are all Candy onions... yellow and red. Thank you for stopping by. I'm sure we will be doing a harvest video. - Janette
the onion seedling which I have grown are all very thin, hair like, how to get it this thick for transplant?
Oh the memories!
It's so much easier now than it used to be.

Yes. The lower number is a huge part of it. Extra hands help, too
How much yield did you get from this project?
Could you adjust the gate valve to use less water? Thanks for sharing!

Where can I buy a staggered water wheel for planting onions?
We bought from Morgan County Seeds company in Fortuna Missouri
Can you please tell me what the spacing is on your transplant wheel? TYIA
The onion wheel that we use has a six inch staggered spacing.
