    Great video. April 22 was daddy's birthday. He would have been 103 this year, been gone since Christmas day 2014! He was my buddy..I sure do miss him. We were Buttons and Bows the clowns!! You are doing such a grand job. Feel like I'm there with you!! We have had high winds here too. I wanted to do some planting but the wind and my allergies just are making me wait. I have my seeds and got sand to mix with the Dino dirt I got from the landfill last Tuesday. Maybe things will calm down tomorrow. Take it easy do not overdo and hurt you. I found more jar lids so I got them. Blessings. Stay safe and warm. 💕🙏🥰

    You have NO IDEA how I wish I could still do what you are doing easily. My spine is so damaged that I can’t walk without assistance, and it WILL progress until I am in a wheelchair or bed bound. Still, I have my mind, my eyes, and my hands, so I can still contribute, even if only in a chair. I started gardening before I was two, because I was born in early June and we planted the backyard garden on Memorial Day weekend. GOOD FOR YOU!

      Thanks so much for sharing your story, Vicki. I wish this was not your inevitable fate. I hear about new technologies that can help heal. I pray they can be released and people benefit with renewed bodies. I hope I can continue to let you live vicariously through my efforts and I hope to be educated by all that you know because you know much more than me. God bless you.

    ❤. I admire you. I am 70 years old and trying to garden in Las Vegas, NV. I am improving and learning. It is so much fun and rewarding. I have a very small raised bed garden. It is so rewarding and I am learning so much. I have a young person who helps me 2 times a week and she is learning as well. It is so nice to be retired and have time to pursue my dreams. Thank you, you are an inspiration.😊

    You're much more nimble than I, down on those knees and all. I grow onions from seed in 2-gallon wicking tubs on shelves inside my greenhouse or outside in Summer, all while sitting on a tall bar stool. Laughing at my laziness? I'll check back in 9 years.

    We planted three types of short day onions in my raised beds from dixondale this last year and got a huge harvest. You’ve inspired me to plant even more this year. I think I’m going to involve all my kids and see if we can get an even larger harvest and possibly sell at the farmer’s market. Great video! Thanks

    • @Latebloomershow
      @Latebloomershow  Год назад

      That's such a great idea! Getting the kids involved is the best ever. If you want to be inspired, follow Lizzy Lou's Family Farm on Instagram. See her post today of the girls sleeping in their car seats. I actually traveled to NC to interview her in 2017 when I still lived in LA, and they were babies. Now, her daughters are helping at the farmer's markets, being homeschooled and loving the farm life. Wish I could have done that. All the best. If interested, here's the video I did at her farm. This was before she switched from vegetables to flowers, which started the whole distillation of flower scents, skin care, and AirBnB. Unstoppable. To witness the twins grow up on Instagram is something. ruclips.net/video/-ocWQ2e7o8Q/видео.html

    Wow Kaye!!! You go girl!!! I don't get why you put the fertilizer in the middle? Roots of Onion are not that deep and not even close to the onions?? What is this technique called? and where did you hear of it? If your garden thrives you are going to be one very very busy lady in the fall.

    Hello Kaye. You look smashing in fuchsia I love that color.
    I buy my starts locally, unfortunately I never find red, white or sometimes yellow. I’m not a fan of yellow, I find them too sweet for my liking. So just white again this year. They been in 3-4 weeks?
    I wish I could find red, I think they look beautiful especially when they start to bulb out. Thank you for sharing.

  • @charlescoker7752

    Dixon dale sent me the fertilizer to use. The reason you put the fertilizer well away from the roots is because they use Chemical fertilizer 20/20/20. Which would burn the roots. You are using organic fertilizers. No need to make the fertilizer trench. You should have put the organic fertilizer out about 3 months before setting out the onions. To give time for the fertilizer to break down
