I followed your onion growing directions last year and it was the first time I had grocery store (and even bigger) sized onions. You definitely give great advice here!
Very informative video and you are a very good teacher. I love Vidalia onions do you live close to that farm? I lived in Valdosta when my daughter was going to college. I thought Warner robins was hot, I thought I was going to die in Valdosta. Good video 👍
Not just onions they are spreading bull jive but many other garden technics and practices. Thanks for staying real. The good ol southern way. You make gardening fun and profitable.
I grew onions from sets for years without success. 4 years ago I started growing from seed and now I'm hooked. I follow all 10 of your top 10 list and look forward to a bountiful harvest every year. I went crazy this year and will definitely have to give away onions to friends and family this year. I grow mine in a ground cover. Love your channel.
I heard the other day for the first time that it’s hard to grow big onions from sets because they consider that their second year and they want to put the effort into making seed instead of bulbs. Explained a lot lol
I'm thinking of working an area up sowing it in clover, then once it's up use drill plant onion plants after filling holes half full of composted manure.
Brooklyn's hat is adorable! A spaghetti raised bed would be fun to do in a long bed. A bed full of baby's breath would look great as a divider or pattern making bed. Actually, I had a friend that planted a block of smaller ones and put a different color of flower in each one to create a rainbow garden. (I feel a little silly giving you experts garden ideas!) 👒💐🌈🌞
Put in raised garden beds and connect them with an arched trellis system! You can let your melons and squash plants grow up over the trellis and the fruit hangs down and makes easy picking. It would look awesome
Would LOVE the idea of raised bed gardening! A lot of people don't have the in ground space like you are blessed with, and do strictly raised bed, so they would learn a lot!
Nice video Travis but I'm not going to lie the best part in the video is when Ti Ti walks in the camera shot with that big ass bone , I about spit my tea out laughing ❤😂
I liked and subscribed. I been backyard gardening over 60 years. Im 78 years old now and about 10 years ago, I started using raised beds and I wished I'd started sooner. As far as your fire ring, sweet potatoes would be great in there PLUS, you would have some beautiful foliage,
Go Titus! Those of us with yards have to grow in smaller spots and containers are what we have to limit ourselves to. I’m using 110 gallon troughs though, so it’s reasonable sized for you to mess with.
Love seeing raised garden beds, cheap ways to fill them and build soil, and how to improve production. As I get older, in-ground gardening is getting tougher.
First of, thank y'all for the wealth of knowledge that y'all are sharing with the world. You mention that you prefer to plant your onions in November. My question is, duo you start your seeds in November or transplant the small plants in November? If you're transplanting them in November, when do you start your seeds? Thanks in advanced.
Thank you for the 10 onion tips. I had an awful onion harvest this year. I'll be using all 10 tips. Please, as a man in his 60's with bad knees and back I would love to see more raised bed gardening ideas.
Been watching your videos for years and can say as a old Ky guy here you are without a doubt giving the best advice on gardening on the internet in my opinion.I have learned a lifetime of knowledge from your videos. Semper Fi
Hello 1st time here. My father used to say BULLJIVE.AN an he also new his bulljive on onions 🌰 everything u said is facts.blessing to u family and garden..I will subscribe..thanks..aaiiyyaa keepgoing..
Hey Travis. Great video with lots of good info on onion growing. I’ve never had a lot of luck growing onions because I followed some bad advice. Can’t wait to use your checklist and give them another shot. BIG fan of your raised bed idea and I think it makes a lot of sense. One option you may want to consider is to use fabric grow bags as your container. They are relatively inexpensive, come in a variety of sizes, easy to move, and make a great container for growing vegetables. Looking forward to Friday’s vid!!
Look at them onions. They are massive. Great blessed harvest. I’ve started oregano indoors and never grows well, but the one I direct sow in a container, is coming back even after that crazy cold weather we had.
Seems like I remember you off of HOSS.. I wondered why you were no longer on there. Now it’s boring. I like how you show what you’re doing in the garden it gives more of a visual. Glad I come across your new channel. 😁
I would love ❤️ to see you use some raised flower beds. I have had a major back injury and would like to see an option for not bending. A 🪴 garden to focus on not bending. 🌱
Hi Travis, up here in SWMO I live on a hill top with nothing but rock on the under side. So all my gardening is done in them big mineral tubs and I love it, I can sit in my little chair and do all my planting and pick in comfort. When you get older like I am you got to cheat all you can lol.
I would like to see you do some videos on planting in raised beds. I hope you can get a company to sponsor. I grow half my garden in raised beds. I have my onions in one of them now. Keep up the good work, Travis. Thank you for your hard work.
Thank you so much for this video. This is my first time growing onions, and I started them from seeds in November. I'm happy to find tips from someone who actually can show the onions they have grown. There is nothing worse than someone giving advice, and it's their first time growing something and can't show you the proof of what they're talking about. I definitely need to give nitrogen and water a little more frequently. Thanks again.
Raised beds are great for older gardeners, like me, since we don’t have to bend so far to garden. I have a small in ground garden this year for okra, corn, pole beans and cukes, but most of my crops are in raised beds or containers.
Definitely suggest doing the raised bed plot. I think a lot of people would benefit from it especially using multiple different sizes and materials to test longevity and pros and cons of each.
As soon as I seen your picture of those red onions... I was buying them!! You have really made me a better gardener , I monkey see monkey do when it comes to your planting time and tips. I live near Orange beach , AL and gargen in raised beds . And buying metal is cheaper than wood , I made all my raised beds over the winter when all the garden beds were on clearance. Again thank you so much for what you do
Thank you for sharing your garden with me. I just love how it’s all coming together and growing so nicely! I love to garden and also make garden videos. I have so much to still learn about gardening. I’d love it if we could learn more from each other! Happy Growing! 🌷🌼🌻🌺🌸🌹🐝
i like the idea of the raised beds. currently have 2 raised beds going. 6ft by3ft and 4ft by 3ft. currently have 6 tomato and 6 jalapenos and 6 collards green in the large bed. in the smaller bed i did have pole beans which i harvested about 3lbs of bean out of. the small bed may be an onion bed this fall or a corn field. plus thinking bout a 3 raised bed. in zone 9b in florida here.
I 100% appreciated the top 10 list you provided. This is a great highlight in this video. Would love to see more of this style through out other items in the garden. Great Job!
Thanks Travis, I heard that tip about cutting the tops and did it. I am going to harvest soon. I am not optimistic . It’s my first year, so I don’t mind. It’s all learning. Thank you.
I love the idea of a raised bed garden. I have very little in-ground usage in my garden - it’s mostly raised beds. It would be fun to get your take on how best to grow in raised bed - especially with respect to plant spacing and fertilization. This was a fun video, especially since I will be getting my onions in November and need to get beds ready for them. I HOPE I can grow onions that big!
I grow mostly raised beds n pots so it would interest me. Up here in zone 3 frost free dates are early June until late September. Raised beds n pots the soil warms much earlier getting me up n growing sooner. 👍👍
I am ALL ABOUT raised beds. It is so much easier for me to manage and water. Way easier on my back. I bought a lot of those fire rings 2 years ago...I think I have 9 or 10 out there, and they were only $30 at the time. Ive even planted onions in them. I would love to see videos on raised beds and management on them. Ive also got a couple of the metal raised beds, but havent gotten them put together yet. I need to git on it!
I like gardening but as I have aged, last four summers I have had health issues that have made traditional in ground gardening infeasible. Last year we tried gardening in pots/ very small raised beds. Even with my unplanned health set back, we had the most successful garden in four years. Gardening in pots was very rewarding and fruitful. I would love to hear and learn more from your experiences. As a matter of fact, we are trying tumeric from learning from watching your videos on growing in raised beds. I didn’t even know we could grow tumeric!
Those red onions (Chianti and Red Rock) are beautiful!. Thanks for sharing the results of your experiments. Best wishes from Kate in Olympia, WA - 5/18/2022.
That's the biggest red onions I've seen! You are definitely the onion growing expert. I'll follow your instructions before anyone on RUclips. Travis I have a couple of the metal raised beds and I did the huglecilture method for filling it. Cardboard on the very bottom, then a layer of tree limbs and a thick layer of leaves. Only the top 12 inches of both beds are soil. They have sunk a couple inches but I'll add some soil after I harvest the beans and potatoes.
Will be my first time trying to grow from seeds. Great video and saw an earlier video of yours today too on onions. Up here in Northern Michigan growing inground beds. Weeds are a pain, bought a stirrup hoe for the first seedling weeds.. also going to try no-till no dig. Tiller is staying out tho... thanks Travis!
Sage does well in the ground but not with drip irrigation. It does well in tough conditions giving a strong tasting leaf. Except for tender herbs, generally they do not like rich, moisture retentive soil. For what it's worth, that's my experience. Enjoying and learning a lot, thanks.
Thanks Travis. I saw a lot of comments on the boiled peanuts. Especially the sharp geographical contrast for experience /awareness. Fascinating. It is obvious that everyone, including me, are waiting for the ultimate detailed boiled peanut recipe in the future! Ha! Good job, Sir. Chuck in Jensen Beach.
I followed your onion growing directions last year and it was the first time I had grocery store (and even bigger) sized onions. You definitely give great advice here!
Same for me too. People kept saying it was a bad year for onions in FL. Meanwhile, I was having the best year yet. 😂
Very informative video and you are a very good teacher. I love Vidalia onions do you live close to that farm? I lived in Valdosta when my daughter was going to college. I thought Warner robins was hot, I thought I was going to die in Valdosta. Good video 👍
Just having the lil man involved deserves a like 👍🏾.. train em young

Seeds are definitely the way to go!
I'm thinking of working an area up sowing it in clover, then once it's up use drill plant onion plants after filling holes half full of composted manure.
The clover helps feed the heavy feeder onions!!
What about mulching for weed control?
Brooklyn's hat is adorable! A spaghetti raised bed would be fun to do in a long bed. A bed full of baby's breath would look great as a divider or pattern making bed. Actually, I had a friend that planted a block of smaller ones and put a different color of flower in each one to create a rainbow garden. (I feel a little silly giving you experts garden ideas!) 👒💐🌈🌞
We always appreciate any suggestions. Thanks Laura!
Put in raised garden beds and connect them with an arched trellis system! You can let your melons and squash plants grow up over the trellis and the fruit hangs down and makes easy picking. It would look awesome
Cute family gardening footage 😊.
Would LOVE the idea of raised bed gardening! A lot of people don't have the in ground space like you are blessed with, and do strictly raised bed, so they would learn a lot!
That's an impressive onion harvest..! Well played, sir.
Thanks Corey!
Nice video Travis but I'm not going to lie the best part in the video is when Ti Ti walks in the camera shot with that big ass bone , I about spit my tea out laughing ❤😂
Haha. You never know what he is going to do.

The benefit of your dog rolling in an herb is that it helps keep them smelling nice. 😊
Basil is good for pesto?
Go Titus! Those of us with yards have to grow in smaller spots and containers are what we have to limit ourselves to. I’m using 110 gallon troughs though, so it’s reasonable sized for you to mess with.
Beautiful onions.
Love seeing raised garden beds, cheap ways to fill them and build soil, and how to improve production. As I get older, in-ground gardening is getting tougher.
I didn't know red onions could get that big! Thanks!
We start our seeds in the greenhouse in mid-September and then transplant in November.
You Should do the raise bed sponsorship im sure you have a huge amount of gardeners me being one of them that would enjoy your take on it!
Thank you for the 10 onion tips. I had an awful onion harvest this year. I'll be using all 10 tips. Please, as a man in his 60's with bad knees and back I would love to see more raised bed gardening ideas.
Thank you so much, you are only 1.5 hours from me so I go by when you plant Hazlehurst Georgia 🌱

I’d love to see y’all do a raised bed garden. You can get so much more creative with raised beds. I have 20 and love them!
Should be fun!
If it’s Vego Garden who wants to do the sponsorship, I’d jump on it. They’re nice. 👍🏻
They are nice!
Yes! You better do those raised beds!. I like the vego beds. I could see you doing those.
I always plant too many! Love sharing with family and friends!

I'm gardening strictly in fabric bags they work great!!😅
Look at them onions. They are massive. Great blessed harvest. I’ve started oregano indoors and never grows well, but the one I direct sow in a container, is coming back even after that crazy cold weather we had.

I would love ❤️ to see you use some raised flower beds. I have had a major back injury and would like to see an option for not bending. A 🪴 garden to focus on not bending. 🌱
Thanks for your input. I'll see what we can put together.
You're pronouncing that name just fine! Like the wine!
Great info regarding planting onions. Love to see raised bed video. So good to see Titus and Mrs. Titus steels the show.
Thanks Karen!
Love this farmer ! Thank u for sharing all u know ❤🇨🇦
Hi Travis, up here in SWMO I live on a hill top with nothing but rock on the under side. So all my gardening is done in them big mineral tubs and I love it, I can sit in my little chair and do all my planting and pick in comfort. When you get older like I am you got to cheat all you can lol.

It sure would!

That kid is ADORABLE!! THANKS for the onion tips. VERY helpful. I subscribed immediately.
Thanks for subbing!
Great 😊
I like your raised beds idea. It sounds like a fun adventure! 👍🏻
I think so too!
Raised beds are great for older gardeners, like me, since we don’t have to bend so far to garden. I have a small in ground garden this year for okra, corn, pole beans and cukes, but most of my crops are in raised beds or containers.
I might actually start growing bush beans again if I had a long raised bed. lol
Definitely suggest doing the raised bed plot. I think a lot of people would benefit from it especially using multiple different sizes and materials to test longevity and pros and cons of each.
If we do it, we'll probably have all the same type of material, but just different shapes and sizes.
Raised beds would be a great thing to see you tackle. It would help those of us with smaller gardens . Thanks so much love your content
Noted!
I have did just what you have said and those babys are growing. Thanks ,
my brother is going to be sad when he see mine.
You are a great teacher! Thank you for this good information!
You are so welcome!
I value all of you onion tips ! Thank you! This is my first year growing them from seed am excited to see how it goes !!!
Your garden is beautiful
Thanks Kathy!

Hope the Chianti onions do as well for you as they did for us!
@@LazyDogFarm I think they will. I got massive onions with the Dixondale onions with your pointers.. I can only imagine these
Those things are amazing. Tie them to the end of a stick and you got yourself a legit weapon. lmao.
I know right?!
Thank you for the info! Very helpful 🙏🙏🙏
Raised Beds? 🤔🤔 I think that's a great idea. LOL 🤠
I think it would be perfect for things like collards in the fall.
Thank you for sharing your garden with me. I just love how it’s all coming together and growing so nicely! I love to garden and also make garden videos. I have so much to still learn about gardening. I’d love it if we could learn more from each other! Happy Growing! 🌷🌼🌻🌺🌸🌹🐝
You are so welcome!
That sweat tear was right on queue when talking about loosing the baby onions.Lol
we use sheets of durarock cut to 2' height as raised bed material.
Lovely! May I ask what type of soil you use for your onion field?
We have pretty sandy soil down here, but we've added lots of compost over the years.
really nice video , Tye is a hoot . Y'all take care
Yes I need to see raised beds because I have a small backyard and I have a raised bed and want to get more
I would love to see some raised beds in your garden.
Great video. Awesome onions. I would love to see you garden in raised beds since I garden in raised beds and containers only.
Thanks Janice!

Glad you found us too Robin!
Definitely do the raised beds please. To many rabbits round here for a ground garden.
Yes, I would love to see you plant out some raised beds.
Thanks Travis, I heard that tip about cutting the tops and did it. I am going to harvest soon. I am not optimistic . It’s my first year, so I don’t mind. It’s all learning. Thank you.

Those red onions (Chianti and Red Rock) are beautiful!. Thanks for sharing the results of your experiments. Best wishes from Kate in Olympia, WA - 5/18/2022.
Always good to see you here Kate!
Great idea, raised beds just adds another dimenison to the garden.
I think it will!
That's the biggest red onions I've seen! You are definitely the onion growing expert. I'll follow your instructions before anyone on RUclips.

Only the top 12 inches of both beds are soil. They have sunk a couple inches but I'll add some soil after I harvest the beans and potatoes.
We are planning on doing the same method soon! I love how all of that bed filler naturally composts and builds the soil over the years.
Good idea Mary!
At my age, 72, raised beds are the only way I can garden. Would love having raised beds included in your growing cycles.
Amazing….great job fam
Nice
I love raised beds. And it is of the only option for folks.
Thank God! I have been struggling
YES!!!! for the raised bed info! That’s mainly what I have. Taking all the onion notes for next year. THANKS
Sage does well in the ground but not with drip irrigation. It does well in tough conditions giving a strong tasting leaf. Except for tender herbs, generally they do not like rich, moisture retentive soil. For what it's worth, that's my experience. Enjoying and learning a lot, thanks.
Thank you from Virginia. Loved the video and totally agree with this good information in a sea of bad information. Nice harvest to.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing this information. I am going to follow these instructions and see if I can be successful. Thanks again.
Thank ya Travis. I have my onions in a raised bed. I companioned planted with bell pepper. So far so good!
Yummy, looking good onions Travis 😀
The round raised beds looks great will last along time😀
Chicken food Brooklyn with the extra plantings 😀🇦🇺
Yes! The chickens always enjoy the leftovers.
Thanks Travis, saving this video, and sharing of course. Really good one.
If we're able to grow some, we'll definitely show how we prepare them.
Thanks so much for the tips on growing onions I love growing big onions
Growing big onions is more fun than growing little onions! Proven fact! lol
Your hedge row basil is a great , I was going to do the same
It's a beautiful sight when it gets full.
