"I'm very thankful for the brave MAN that pulled me from that burning building last April and, unfortunately, perished in the process; I'll never forget him. I don't remember his name, but I think he had a moustache." -Norm
I’ve never understood the Friends joke. He always says “I’m thankful for the show friends” or something similar and then goes the punchline. I feel that the set up should be “I’m thankful for friends” to make the audience think he is talking about actual friendship, and then subvert the expectation with the punchline of Joey and Chandler, is that not the idea of this joke?
@@nomnom112 I think the same, however, there’s another podcast besides this one and Conan's where he says “the show friends” I can’t remember which one, but it’s weird that he would make that mistake in two separate podcasts
It kind of sounds like he's saying "a series known as Friends." But what he actually says is "on a serious note, is friends." It's just said in Norm's trademark stumbling, mumbling kind of way. He does the joke the way you're saying he should.
RIP Norm. I'm thankful for the memories...
I'm thankful for Thanksgiving, so I can hear this list again.
a bright spot of my day
Norm’s also thankful that Dog’s bounty hunting days are over
Listening to this list has become an annual traditional in my family
Because sometimes it’s fun to write bits for the ghost of Johnny Carson.
From time to time I’ll randomly think about that bread joke and laugh out loud.

I think he had a mustache
One of my favourite norm bits. Alongside the deeply closeted bit.

I think he unintentionally says the series friends. On Conan he just says friends.
