I have to say, a lot of this is looking like a bunch of people who believed their own bullshit, and refused to listen to anyone in the room saying that laws are a thing.

My view on it is that they knew it was against the law, but they were in on the grift, and couldn't walk away from millions of dollars being collected from absolute rubes. Stepien called his team "Normals" when compared to Rudy Giuliani and his stooges, but those "Normies" made off with a lot of money in the weeks after the election, and well into 2021. Notice how they acknowledge the absurdity of the election fraud claims when faced with a room full of lawyers and congressmen, and they're willing to exchange Trump admin details under the assumption that they will not face prosecution for their deeds when the white (orange) whale is looking to be harpooned. They went to the wall trying to carry Trump to a second term to keep the money spigot turned on. They made a small fortune, established ties to Capitol Hill, got a book deal out of the ordeal, and are probably poised to open their own consultancy firms for future MAGA turds running for office. There is no remorse or penitence among them, and I will be shocked if a single grifter other than Eastman gets put away for their misdeeds in office.
Sorry, but you're giving them way too much credit. The fact of the matter is that they knew that what they were doing was wrong. They simply didn't care. Fascists are like that.
The entire GOP is guilty of the same thing, including all these "I SAW NUZZIN" Sgt. Schultz types like Liz Cheney. They spent decades spreading the anti-democratic Big Lie of voter fraud that was always going to lead here. They were warned. They didn't care. It has to be making Eric's dad livid that the hearings are getting such high ratings. Which we all know is really all that guy cares about. Which never fails to sound pathetic when he brings it up. Why do they want to follow this guy again?

I personally enjoy seeing Eric and especially Don Jr getting pissy and flustered. They’re both the epitome of everything wrong with America: nepotism at the highest levels, politicians and elites being too high up on the food chain to press charges against, one of the most blatant forms of white privilege that I’ve ever seen, Trump transferring enormous amounts of wealth to his sons to dodge paying taxes thanks to the rich lobbying politicians and passing laws slashing wealth and transfer of wealth taxes, death taxes and inheritance taxes etc. These two trump kids and his trashbag daughter robbed this country of every cent they could steal and did it all breaking the law while nobody said ot did anything to stop it. So as far as I’m concerned seeing the trumps miserable and angry, sad and depressed is a present to America and we should enjoy it while we can because these fucks are surely to try to take back power again in 2024.
