I was watching a WatchMojo video 2 or 3 days ago and they said that Deryck wrote the hell song after he learned that his friend was diagnosed with HIV. the lyrics actually make sense to me now. remember, HIV was much more of a death sentence in the early 2000s, especially compared to today.
