No one is above the law
Except a president because they have the power to pardon so there are immune.
We know yall will be complaining about a corrupt court system soon enough. You Trump haters can't make up your minds on trusting the justice system or not
Correct
@@splinewalker214 NOT for ex-presidents/ only for standing President =(Biden 2024)

How did this BS make it to the supreme court? This is total BS and a waist of time of the court. a 3rd. grader knows that no one is above the law!
I agree. But it’s a “waste” of time. A 3rd grader would know that

A lot if BS makes it to the Supreme court
A lot of people have been proven to be above the law. Organizations have been above the law for years! I won’t dare name them but they have three letters. Government is made up of people and people are inherently flawed

Hmm, does anyone recall a thing called "oath of office"?!? Double-sheesh! 😕

Hmm oh yeah I wonder if Biden forgot his oath of office !
He never was charged so what are WWE trying to do to him now. He has to have some immunity or every president could not ever do their job.
@@lisalewis1442 NO ONE HAS IMMUNITY! WE have a Constitution. LOOK at trumpy's credit rating. WHAT does that tell any sane person? SHEESH!!
Impeachment would depend on which party has control of the house. The president could get away with doing crimes if his party has control of the house. We have to have some kind of way to keep political parties in check.
Make America great again, LOCK HIM UP.
YES LOCK HIM(JOE BIDEN) UP!
if Ttump has immunity, then so does Joe!
And if he doesn’t, neither does joe-works both ways buddy
@@debisettles4745 Mr. Biden isn't whining for immunity, ...buddy
All correct
@@peterlongprong7521He should be. Immunity is for the office of the President not the president.
Clinton did not invoke immunity in 2001. He accepted a plea bargain. So there is precedent. Besides Holly Brewer, a professor of American cultural and intellectual history at the University of Maryland, said: “When designing the presidency, the founders wanted no part of the immunity from criminal prosecution claimed by English kings."
That justices voice is so calming.
Justice Sotomayor has a beautiful strong clear voice.
Why didn't they ask rump's lawyer about the fact that when we talk about immunity, we are talking about what would otherwise be CRIMES? No innocent person argues for immunity. Sauer should have to explain why the president can commit CRIMES.
About 55 minutes in, Ketanji Brown Jackson basically asked this.
Justice Thomas is an embarrassment to the judicial system and the Supreme Court in general is making a mockery of ITSELF even taking up this case ESPECIALLY sense rejected taking up this case in DECEMBER.
Justice Clarence Thomas is an excellent jurist who conducts himself without prejudice and hate, unlike your comment.

Justice Thomas, he is embarrassment_ he don't argues nothing so far; as defending this matter of Tramps CRIMES. He is just a puppet for the MAGA/ Confederate/ Racist Billionaires that pays him for what he must do.
Best judge of them all
at the beginning of hour 1 - Thomas ask's a couple questions as if he has dementia/ to get schooled by the Special Counsel_ is Thomas a crackhead??
It is so illogical and stupid that the Supreme Court hears such an argument. This matter is essential for the separation of the power of the three branches; a president does not have absolute immunity otherwise, we are in a Middle Eastern country in Cuba or in North Korea. How stupid.
Time to prosecute Obama for war crimes
The reality of america!.HOAX
If they do rule of in favor of immunity, then it applies to Joe Biden.
Every president that held office! It works for them now.
It also applies to every past president in my lifetime. All of them should have had criminal charges filed against them. It’s frustrating that they let all of them off the hook for war crimes and they come after Trump for something that’s not even a crime. If they rule there is no immunity, I hope to hell they come after past presidents too, but their past inaction process they won’t.
Joe president for life.

Is it the job of the Supreme Court to decide what the law is, or is it the job of the Supreme Court to decide what the law should be?
It’s the job of SCOTUS to interpret the Constitution and new laws.
a bit of both. their job is to align our understanding of the _consitutional laws_ with the intentions of the authors, and to extend that same logic when necessary.
As Oliver Hardy said, “ that’s another fine mess you’ve got us into.”
Wow, Alito playing interference...Totally cut off Jackson when she was getting into fifth gear on Sauer...totally pivot the conversation into another answer from Sauer. NOT COOL!
I can't believe the Supreme court is even taking up this case. Then again considering who some of the judges are, yes I can!
Lock him up!
Someone just have to end this bs once and for all
The lawyers definition of what makes something official or private is GARBAGE!

"If you're able to, chip in now to the @MNFreedomFund to help post bail for those protesting on the ground in Minnesota," Harris tweeted.
“But they’re not going to stop. They’re not going to stop. They’re not. This is a movement. I’m telling you. They’re not going to stop, and everyone, beware. Because they’re not going to stop. They’re not going to stop before election day in November, and they are not going to stop after election day. And everyone should take note of that on both levels. That they’re not going to let up. "the people's voices must be heard, and it is often the people who must speak to get their government to do what it is supposed to do, but may not do naturally unless the people speak loudly -- and obviously peacefully."
"I actually believe that 'Black Lives Matter' has been the most significant agent for change within the criminal justice system,"
At least 25 Americans were killed, $2 Billion in Damage, & more than 2,000 law enforcement officers were injured in the first weeks of protests.
Nobody’s above the law except Trump because he nominated 3 sitting Justices.😂
Term limits are needed.
Sotomayor ❤
Congratulations. They opened a can of worms. If the President is liable, then ALL prior presidents can be hauled into court. Who is to say that every member of the three branches of government may not be immune after leaving their tenure?
What if.
What if.

The thing with "offical acts" is that they must conform WITH the Constitution. When the official act is anti-Constitution or contradicts or subverts the Constitution, then it is ground for impeachment and criminal prosecution. There's NO but to it. Article II, Section 3:, "he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed." An insurrection against a new President who was elected by the majority of the people is definitely anti-Constitution. And the 62 voter fraud lawsuits were mostly dismissed or dropped due to lack of evidence or lack of standing, and not found in favor of the Republicans or Trump, and many of those were Trump appointed judges.
Women against Trump 👎👎!
Total power corrupts totally. There must be accountability.
So basically trumps attorney is saying Trump broke the law officially it was an act of afficially breaking the law and he can do that lol. I don't think he's making his case. But Thomas seems to be keeping pretty quiet hum
That gravelly voice is awful. Who wants to listen to that. I think it’s time to look seriously at impeaching at least three of these justices.

What is the extent of the Official Acts You Honors? Is it unbridled?
This is pathetic, if they go for this /// Then the supreme courts are breaking the law - and maybe getting something for this. This is dumb, WHY they have the jurors then for/ if they are just going to ignore the PROCESS...
Not really. Apply yourself to the merits of the case. You have to delve deep within your intellect to understand the chasm between the office of the President and the President.

I hope when Trump gets in, he does two things first.
1.Release &/or Pardon every person for Jan 6,
2. Have Mayorkas arrested and prosecuted for breaking federal immigration laws.
Just because your boss tells you to commit a crime you are fully responsible for doing it, no one else.
And Joe Blow won't be around to pardon him.
Neil gorstink is so snarky when he things someone isn’t republican 😂
Alito needs to resign, Gorsuch and Thomas too.
I think he needs another cigar.

How about the glaring conflict of interest with Clarence Thomas whose wife was directly involved with the failed coup.
Michael Dreeben wiped the floor with Trump's lawyer. Even the conservative justices seemed in awe of the depth of knowledge and sheer confidence of Dreeben. Bravo.
This is the biggest stall and waste of time. They've already made their minds up. This attorney is the biggest lawyer logorrhea model ever. What a joke this all is. Shame on them for even hearing it. Shame.

I'm sorry this man nearly destroyed his vocal cords , seems like they would have chose somebody else to speak.
“I am not a crook.”
my god the judges wont even let anyone else finish their sentences. how rude!
Justice Thomas asked a question!! In the 30 years he's been on the court he has rarely asked a question during arguments. He didn't ask one question during the decade of 2006-2016. The last time he asked a question was in 2021. He woke up finally!
Alito is dancing and jigging his way to some sort of syntactical way of defense for a an absolute criminal
Wrong is ,wrong people .OMG
The legal and constitutional ability of a president to pardon himself (self-pardon) is an unresolved issue. The Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) issued an opinion that concluded that a President may not self-pardon "[u]nder the fundamental rule that no one may be a judge in his own case." The issue remains unsettled and would likely require a constitutional amendment or a Supreme Court decision to clarify.
More info in the Limitations section of the Federal pardons in the United States Wikipedia article.
Come on justices did you not look at the January 6th videos and this would come easy!
So if the Supreme Court grants Presidents total immunity from prosecution doesn't that mean President Biden can send Seal Team Six, or any other number, to Maralago?
Sauer is over his head!! No one is above the law!!
Alito & Kavenaugh: Vague - core powers analysis must apply to equal layers of law.
Fraud provision is the very reason you are there Justice Alito no matter if you want to acknowledge it or not.
Detainment? Better not go there - might have to discuss Gitmo. Props to Michael Dreeben for his exceptional rebuttals!
Trump’s motives are to turn government into the mafia.
When did D. John Sauer turn into a dalek?
I thought he was a heavy smoker and using an electronic voice box.
I think the Supreme Court Justices appointed by Trump should be required to RECUSE THEMSELVES as well Justice Thomas due to his wifes close History with the January 6 attack should also be recused! If Thomas stays the Solicitor General casts the deciding vote! Capice!🤔👍👍👍💥💥
Make sense! But unfortunately he is shameless.
When there is a hearing to become judge on the SC, the candidates are very clear that they dont opine on hypotheticals, only on cases.
But in this case they are constantly talking "not about this case, but as a hypothetical". I do understand that you may need hypotheticals to state principles, but i struggle with the disparity of opinion. They opine on hypotheticals left right and center. Should they not focus on the case at hand??
I think they have to use hypotheticals because some cases are still pending.
Stop saying “allegedly” Trump did those things! There is proof of it. There is no “alleged” about it.🙄
Allegedly means: "I think that the facts corroborate showing you violated a law, and a court ruling is pending on this."
It's a legal term that can mislead many to assumption of guilt!
I wish they would stop using the term as well.
They probably have to because some of the rulings are pending and because they are before SCOTUS.
ever heard of the expression "Innocent until PROVEN guilty in a court of law"?? it is part of the constitutional rights EVERY defendant has in the United States so...are you saying it should not apply to President Trump because you don't like him or you "feel" he is guilty?? the justice's on the supreme court can NOT assume that trump is guilty because the D.O.J claims he is

IMHO official and unofficial acts need separating in the briefs before any kind of trial can proceed. If one "leg" is shared, then both need tried at the same time, maybe under two different Judges concurrently?

---- < Previous faithless acts and/ or prosecution failures are NOT legal precedent. While there is a modicum of privacy in Executive privilege, it's main purpose is to protect government records... not to empower a President with king-like powers contrary to Article I, Section 9, clause 8..
