    Aloha Scott - What a treat….we didn’t have to wait long for another upload. I’ve learned so much from your minimalist lifestyle that if a hurricane were to hit Hawaii again….I would know how to help my family survive. I know what a propane stove looks like & how to connect the propane tank. I know now how to set up a berky water system. I know how to make simple meals, how to take outdoor showers & so much more. Thank you for sharing your experiences & knowledge with us.

    Scott, Coffee is a critical component in your lifestyle and culture. The origin of your coffee how it Is ground roasted and filtered are elements that control the purity and quality of your coffee expierence. it costs more to create a superior end product. I have found that the purity of the eater is essential to the coffee expierence. Spend a bit more for something your really going to love. Your lifescape in your utility van is not an easy way to go but minimalism had its advantages too.Good video of your thoughtfully designed containers from a professional supply source to create your own filtering system. Your an innovator and improvisor. Great work product test and demonstration.

    I could definitely see the bouncing on the forest road being the cause to it coming loose from the base. I drove on a lot of rough paved country roads going to jobs and it has caused a lot of issues. Currently, a tie rod issue, sigh. I'm broke down but my mechanic stopped by and said I could drive local to make some money as long as I go slow and stay in town. I know you know how it feels. I don't live out of my car yet but I can't make money without it. Last time I was down a month and about lost my apt. But, I'm a survivor. Lol anyway, glad you did a review on these filters! You stated the amount of time, months, the filters seemed to work satisfactorily.
    Any thoughts as to how many gallons filtered?
    Have you ever tested the filtered water to confirm the filters effectiveness?
    Do these new ceramic filters state the specific chemicals filtered out, by percentage?

    • @StaticCamperVan
      @StaticCamperVan  Год назад +3

      I don’t have exact numbers but I generally drink 1 1/2 gallons of water/coffee per day.
      I’ve never had a test performed on the water. I’ve also never gotten sick from any water that was filtered.

    Road vibration is pretty awful. I’ve been thinking that a piece of foam the same diameter as the water container with holes to fit over the top of the filters might protect the filters. I just found a berkefield big Berkey at our local Restore. Now it’s worth making something to protect the filters.

    It would be better to know approximately how many gallons you used instead of the amount of time they lasted. Different people use different amounts of water. Was this a gallon a day, just used on weekends, or what? My original Berkey filters (two) only provided about 600 gallons before they failed, and that was using tap water. The length of time they lasted is irrelevant.

    I suppose those replacement filters snapped during the journey's 'Bumpities'?
    Unfortunately I've lost faith in the analysis and the testings being fed to us. Inside or outside testing, the 3rd party testing... read the testing protocol and if it says filters for the testing were obtained on the open market, from routine stock, then I believe there may begin a layer of testing protocol credibility there.
    But I'm sure you've hear where a 'Tester' doesn't want to pay for all the comparison testing filter stock, so they call and request samples.
    Hey, everyone wants a good score, so they bend over backwards to show their customer service and the filters are HAND PICKED and pre-tested. If for any reason in those test, the filters are lacking, the Tester contacts Customer Service for hand picked replacements.
    Who really knows what percent their sampling from the factory, or in the field after 3 years in inventory, sitting in the sun on a rail car in New Mexico? Filter media ultra dry, micro cracking.
    Also, I think you are a consumer of the back packing and trekking filters?
    I'm very worried about the tests and claims in that industry. The hikers who appear to read the literature and ads, as though they are Bible. Published 10,000 gallons from a small pipe filter? Even from a tap water and procedural back-flushing, that's quite the claim for literally 9 grams of filter media. That's very LoL and sell me Pyramid Ponzi Crypto literature too

  • @danthesquirrel
    @danthesquirrel Год назад +1

    I am wondering why you are filtering dirty water to drink. It is fairly easy to find water dispenser kiosks outside of stores to fill up those 5 gallon plastic jugs. At convenience stores you can still buy gallons of water. Small and cheap water filter pitchers can handle the odd emergency situation. If you are laughing inside thinking "Oh to be that naive again" then maybe throw us an episode of places you have ended up where filtering water is necessary.

      I’ve shown numerous places where I got water that might need some filtering.
      In my mind, any water that hasn’t been filtered by me is “dirty water”

    Why would you make a water purifier with plastic?! Plastic is part of what you want to filter out. 🤦🏻‍♂️

    This video was Very helpful!! Thanx for Sharing "i really appreciate this"😊 🧡🚐🧡
    Seriously I do.... still setting my mini cargo van up, but an accident with a kangaroo in Jan in my van has caused more problems even though I now have my van back.
    Also sorting work etc and life keeps getting in my way.... luckily it's winter here so I have a six to seven month schedule to know which direction I am heading ⏳
