We all stall when we have something to do we don't want to do. I need to cut grass and I have been putting it off for days. If I lived in a van I wouldn't have to cut grass.

Been watching your channel for a while now. Love it. Basic and simple. Good stuff, pleasant to watch. Nice! Keep it up! From the Netherlands, with love.
I have a small tip for drying clothes Faster... rug them in a towel before hanging them to dry, or in worse case use paper towels. I had to do so and dry my clothes INSIDE the van.. in a rainy day - it worked out very well. Slowly replacing ”normally” clothes to sportswear
Here's an idea - Foldable bucket that you can attach to your car wheel. Fill the bucket with your dirty clothes, with some water and detergent, attach to the wheel then go for a drive. The spinning bucket should clean your clothes. Also a different bucket with small holes can be used to spin dry your clothes !
Sorry it's been so long I checked in on you 😉. Great news, after a year of decision paralysis I bought a van this weekend, and was offered mad money for my little SUV. I'm now the proud owner of a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan! Which I will convert. I'm not sure if I'll have the energy to make videos but I'll have so much inspiration from your hacks Scott! Thanks and best wishes from New Mexico 🤠
You crack me up..hope to meet up if i make it to west coast 😉✌ also laundry hack roll your wet clothes in a towel and twist it. Helps to wring them out. But then you have a wet towel to dry 😂🤣✌
12:12 I like the idea that the battery box has features like an USB which i have no idea how to work it but I'll learn when I get one... lol i had to back track couple times, i remember now you mentioned it on another video! I'll come across it. As a matter of fact, i hand wash certain garments, the only satisfaction i get out of it is when i found room to hang the last garment! ✋hi5!! ... gosh you just gave me an idea about that carpet on the window to mussle out sounds, and a purpose use for velcro!!!!!
I really enjoyed this episode a lot today. Not only because of the double pizza, or because you procrastinated that backpack arrangement over and over again, or because of the half dried laundries (great pants BTW!) ... No, it just wonderful to see your especially good and humorous mood today. Brightened up my own mood - what better could you possibly ask for? Thank you 🙂👍💪
That Ikea pocket-thing you have hanging looks a lot like the clothespin hangers I grew up with in the 50s/60s. :) As far as laundry, hot water is good for whites, but you truly don't need it for the rest of your stuff. Warm water does feel better, but truly, everything will get clean with cold water.
Love the banter. I could almost smell the yeasty pizza dough from here. Looked delicious and that's from someone who bought a Challenger Mini Oven for camping just so I could make pizzas lol
For clothes that need a lot of agitation you can use a basin instead of a bucket and stomp them with your bare feet. Use gravity instead of arm muscles. And you get clean feet too.
An old fashioned washboard is an alternative. They come in full size and in a small size that fits a bucket. I have both. My feet wouldn't hold up to that much soap and soaking for both wash & rinse, if I had more than a few pieces to do.
I’m a late comer to your channel and am viewing these late. I just wanted to mention a laundry hack that is well known by rv travelers. Buy a paint bucket with a lid from a DIY store. On travel days, put your laundry items inside with water and detergent. Screw the lid on and then hit the road. The travel motion will act like a washing machine. On arrival at your destination, rinse and hang up. Of course you can use the bucket for other things as well, even storage.
🙋🏽♀️This was a great video. More of your personality shined through.😊 I ALWAYS stall when I have to scrub my bathroom floor. Small bathroom & it doesn’t take more than 20 mins but I scrub it by hand & I do not enjoy it.😃
I just realized watching you do your chores is a lot like watching Tom Hanks in the movie cast away and we out here the viewers are Wilson. I love it keep it up
I like to watch you "stalling" and having a relaxed day doing random stuff. Very relaxing to watch and it helps me procrastinating the things I have to do.....thanks for sharing and have a great weekend.
I have washed cloths in my bath tub, so a bucket is just as good. Yes, could you tell your recipe for pizza dough. Have a wonderful Sunday. I use garlic bread for my pizza dough, it works for me.
This was a really nice video. Enjoyed seeing you do some things in your van to make it more convenient. Was surprised to see you have hot water on demand. Thanks for sharing. 🦋
It’s my hope that you will be encouraged to make your own pizza. I’ve been making flour tortillas, too. Gotta say, the pizza dough is easier than tortillas. But they’re both pretty easy. ✌🏼
Scott! Maybe you are sick from the carbomanocide! If you heat you Van with it running & cook your food for about 1 h4. And hop in a real good sleep bàg with heavy clothes, you should be warm till next morning 🌄🌞 Then you get up turn your Van on& make Coffee warm up again 🌞 Look for indoor spots to warm up ,like Malls where your out of cold!👍👌✌️🤞🇺🇸🙌🙏🌅🌄🌞

Work has me wearing KÜHL pants from REI. I was a Levis guy too, but I'm loving these pants. Lightweight, stretchy, and very tough. Blood, mud, and decomposed granite doesn't seem to hurt these pants.
From South Africa never considered the jeans thing... thanks for that one... While on that, there are nylon type trousers 👖 that have zips in the leggings so it is both shorts and long... gonna re think that one. Currently my dishwashing is 2 cheap round tubs, and I do laundry in them ... mostly denim shorts and T's.. for really cold 🥶 I have a battle tank suit that zips all the way open at the front..
My nylon pants have zips that turn the pants into shorts. It’s convenient occasionally. I keep one set as shorts mostly and sometimes zip the legs back on them.
Geez, you're doing more housework than me in a sticks & bricks! Lolz I need to throw in my load of laundry. Just made quesadillas for dinner and tomorrow's lunch. I've been enjoying EveryPlate home meal delivery and they make use of the oven A LOT. I'm happy to see your workaround to using the stove top instead if I go for van life. I bought some tickets for HOWA's van raffle, so wish me luck! I think nomad life would be untenable in my current VW campervan. Absolutely no storage room. Anyway, keep on keeping on!
Too much pizza is impossible. I’ve had somebody bring a breakfast pizza to a meeting. Was it weird? yes it was. Would I eat it again? No. Years ago I worked in a restaurant that made really different pizzas and the only way to have one like theirs is to make it myself, so you’re inspiring me. Two best kinds- chicken pesto or spinach, almond with feta ( no sauce, only a little olive oil). Now I want to make homemade pizza this week!
Lots of stalling! 🤣, Lmao, i can so relate with that and nice to see you a little giddy today! Yes a productive day still..Always enjoy watching you share.Stay safe and happy! Hugs from the East Coast. PS, You can never have pizza too often😁✌
Laundry tips- starting with cleanest, lightest colored, smallest item: wash first item, wring out, set aside. Using same water wash second item, wring out, sweet aside, repeat. When wash cycle is complete for several or all items, pour out water and start rinse cycle with same first item. Agitate and swish, then wring. Go thru until water is looking like it needs changing. I leaned this from a buying a portable washer. It was nice... the first 4 times I used it, then it quit working. I only used half the weight allowed, so it wasn’t my fault. I just got a refund.
Same principle that my mother used when I was a kid. She had an old fashioned wringer washer. It was filled with buckets of rain water (when available) or buckets drawn from the well. (One bucket at a time!) Thus, water was at a premium. She washed whites and things to be bleached first. Then ran them through the wringer (to remove most of the water which went back into the washer). She had a separate rinse tub sitting behind the washer. And a 2nd tub for bleach water. The next load was light colors and light weight fabrics. They were rinsed and taken to the clothes line. Next level was dark and light weight clothing such as work shirts. Wash, rinse, and to the clothes line. Followed by dark and heavy items such as overalls and work pants. For each step, the degree of soil to be removed determined how long to run the washer. Usually, 10 minutes or so for light color/weight and 20-30 for dark/heavy materials and grimy from manual work. After she allowed the bleached clothes to soak for 20 minutes or so, they went through the wringer and then to the line, too. Generally, it was rare to have to empty the washer or the rinse tub and start over with new water. When that happened, the rinse water became the wash water. I also remember what she did before she got that washer. She used a washboard and washtubs on a bench on the back porch. She heated water using a castiron washpot set over a small fire near the porch. Thank you for bringing back memories. I still have the skills, learned at her knee (to use an old cliche) that have come in handy from time to time. Also, those memories make me still appreciate the modern convenience of a washer & dryer, whether in the utility room or at our local laundromat. Thank you.
So sad your life has taken this turn, you are such a young man still. I hope things can turn around so this doesn't have to be a life that is so desperate. I think people are lying to themselves saying this is the way to live and it's being free, but I don't think so, it's a very hard, hard life and more expensive. Hope you get better.
While I appreciate your concern, I think there might be a little misunderstanding. If you would, can you please give this video a watch and give me your thoughts: ruclips.net/video/L2pNUUHEFpc/видео.html
Valuable ideas from “laundry Hack” video: choose fabrics that suit your life! Easy wash and dry makes it possible to dry after a rainstorm or wash up after a messy task with less effort and fuss. Only buy detergents that are environmentally friendly to avoid “human” damage to locations., idea number 2. The electronics info is still above my head.
I have been procrastinating on an interior van wall project myself. Looking at the rear passenger side wall every day just doesn't help to get the job done. Your idea of using the right size backpack seems to be my solution as well. I happen to have the right size one needed packed in a hard case at the foot of my bed. Well, tomorrow after coffee will be time to quit delaying
Hey Scott..I didn't have an inverter in my van for the first 2 years. I really had no use for it.. almost everything I had was 12vt. Finally decided it was time..so I just bought a cheap 400wt one at Walmart. At first I used it to charge my rechargeable batteries..now I use it for all sorts of things 😁 As for keeping parking spots to yourself.. nothing wrong with that and I do it all the time. When I first started they were way less people doing this so it wasn't a big deal sharing with others. Now.. several years later..after finding my once open spots occupied..I have decided to not share. It really isn't that difficult to find a suitable spot.. especially if only overnight. The people who ruin it for others are the ones who don't move. It's not rocket science..show up late and leave early. I stayed in a small town here in Washington for 8 weeks..stayed in basically the same overnight spot the entire time. I had a place to stay on the weekend..so I'd go to work in this town on Monday and stay all week till Friday. After work I'd go to a small park till it got dark and then head over to my overnight spot. Next morning early..I'd head off to work. I was never bothered the entire 2 months ! It's not so much about stealth as it is about being a nuisance 👍
I’m happy to have an inverter now. But the only thing I use it for is a beard trimmer. There’s not one battery powered beard trimmer that will cut through my mess of a beard! 😂
Hi Scott. Thank you for your good content. Fellow minivan dweller here. You mentioned in another video that if low cost was the priority, there's other ways of life besides van dwelling. May I ask, what are those other lifestyles that you were thinking of?
Maybe I should have used different wording. I didn’t mean to imply that I know of cheaper alternatives. I was simply giving my opinion about the cost of vanlife from my experience over the last eight years. One thing that I do know is owning a vehicle is very expensive and having health problems is astronomically expensive.
In my mini van I have a sleep platform 3 feet wide with small shelf attached on which I place 2 medium black washable dog beds when I go to sleep to give me a bed 5 feet wide from my waist to my head, cost for each bed from Kmart $15USD, works really well
Flipping the seat isn’t really possible with the layout of this van. Plus I keep the cab area separated from my living space because I’ve found that it stays cooler.
Laura Ingalls would be impressed! If you get stuck over nite in the mountains those pants will keep you dry and warm. Jeans 👖could give you hypothermia.
In case it might be helpful I read a study that Proctor & Gamble did with their laundry soaps and concluded that hot water doesn’t get clothes any cleaner (including bacteria) than cold water on any fabric. I always thought hot water was necessary to properly clean clothes but apparently it’s not the case. I began trying it & I have to say the cold water did just as good a job as hot in cleaning clothes.
Good news there. From experience washing my clothes in cold, warm and hot water, I’ve definitely noticed an improvement using warm water. But I use a naturally derived soap from a small company called Biokleen. I think there’s a difference between the natural and synthetic soaps.
Unfortunately I cannot. I lost the recipe and haven’t worked out a new one. I made pizza dough in another video and you can see the details: ruclips.net/video/ChCKqv2sCz0/видео.html
I love pizza, though I limited myself for max 1 a week. Pizza is delicious but almost non nutritious value. Its basically 60% carbohydrate. I am happy for your new found goody, but I would caution you to watch the carbs. They are sneaky bastards.
@@marianfrances4959 I don't want to go to technical here, but simple said this much of carbs means huge blood sugar spike and then crash. This is why you are sleepy after half hour and hungry in a few hours. Missing a lot of key minerals and vitamins. But I respect your non junk food choice, I am not here to fight, I am here to share my thoughts. :)
@@gene8194 years ago I had a Naturopathic Doctor who’s focus was on each individual patient. The office visits were very long with lots of questions and testing. After several office visits, Doc decided that I needed more carbs. He worked out a diet for me to follow that contained a number of carbohydrates. Looking at the diet plan, I was skeptical. Less than two weeks later, following the high carb diet, I felt better than I ever had before. Lessons learned that each individual requires an individualized approach to health and diet.
@@StaticCamperVan I hope in long therms this is going to be a good advice. :) I like to be wrong, if it means that it serves your health. I am not sure why your doctor said that about carbs, and what was your diet at that point, but the issue you may need to look for is, that high blood sugar means the body has to store it somewhere in a short time period. There is a limit how much our body can store in form of glucose, the rest is immediately converted to fat. Unfortunately this fat will never used until the whole glucose storage is not depleted, what means it will accumulate with time. I guess I don't need to explain what that means for the future. And there are a lot of other issues with carbs, but the body is ready to handle it, until we are getting older and the repairing system beginning to weaken. At this point problems may became more and more louder. I could go much more in detail, but I don't want to bother you. Anyway, I respect everyone's choice, just wanted to share some of my learnings and experience. I had a great opportunity in the last few years to learn a bit about this topic and without claiming that I am expert I read a few interesting and eye-opening things. Hope I am wrong in your cas and I am happy to see you are enjoying all that delicious food :)
Because of your restaurant experience I'm sure you have considered using a salad spinner to spin-dry the laundry -- but have you looked into the feasibility of putting a basket for that on your rear axle hub during a crosstown errand, for instance? Could be just the right motivation to make a trip to that special but out of the way place . . . Just sayin'
Do your nylon pants have some sort of insulation in them maybe making drying take a lil longer? Do they keep you warm in cold weather? Have you found a good solution for quick drying shirts? Polyester seems to work well, but sure is form-fitting 😅. How much water storage do you have? ✌️
These Columbia pants are designed more for warm weather. They have UV protection and are designed to quickly dry. I’d need to pair these pants with long underwear in cooler weather. I only will wear cotton tshirts. Can store about 16 gallons of water.
We all stall when we have something to do we don't want to do. I need to cut grass and I have been putting it off for days. If I lived in a van I wouldn't have to cut grass.

Whaaaat a tankless water 🚿 heater in a van 🚐 I didn’t know! Great engineering ☺️
Which video covers that?
Collapsible anything is a win. I’ve never ran into a bucket, I will have to get me one of those.
That is some handy water heater to have 👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟👍👍
It was always my intention to add a water heater. But it took me a few years to actually do it. Having options is a nice luxury.

Thank you.
Genius!

Pizza looks delicious!
Your pizza looks delicious 🍕
I very much appreciate it as well I like your videos they’re interesting do you have a video on how to make pizza dough
I have a pizza video. But I didn’t get too in depth about the dough. ruclips.net/video/ChCKqv2sCz0/видео.html
Yes, I'm jelouse of your life.. Yummy pizza...
That pizza smells crunchy 😋
Is that a good thing?
I gotta try making my own pizza now.
@@StaticCamperVan I hear ya..lol
In my mini van I have a sleep platform 3 feet wide with small shelf attached on which I place 2 medium black washable dog beds when I go to sleep to give me a bed 5 feet wide from my waist to my head, cost for each bed from Kmart $15USD, works really well
Are there really any Kmart stores still around? That’s a blast from the past!
@@StaticCamperVan Here in New Zealand there are and in Australia
Yummy pizza 🍕!
Shuttle bus?
My RV sustained some damages so, I am in a furnished apartment for this 3 month contract. I miss staying in my RV so much!!
Oh I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope you are doing ok.
Have you ever thought about flipping the passenger seat around to use as a chair during the day? Do they make swivels for them?
Flipping the seat isn’t really possible with the layout of this van. Plus I keep the cab area separated from my living space because I’ve found that it stays cooler.
@@StaticCamperVan yeh good point! Keeps it stealth too 😉
You know I loathe that word! 😂
Scott,do you have hair dryers where you take showers? Dry your clothes!😉👍👌✌️🤞🇺🇸🙌🙏🌅🌄💡
No, I shower in my van

I’m very jealous! 🤣do you wash your bedding the same way?
I’d need a bigger clothesline
Why to go Mr Productivity! Careful, this may become a habit! 🤔
Hi Can you share your pizza dough recipe please. I have one but always looking for a better one.
One can use whole grain flour for complex carbs. Also, lots of nutrients in the toppings and sauce. Not junk food to me!
Could be just the right motivation to make a trip to that special but out of the way place . . . Just sayin'
Haha
Do your nylon pants have some sort of insulation in them maybe making drying take a lil longer? Do they keep you warm in cold weather? Have you found a good solution for quick drying shirts? Polyester seems to work well, but sure is form-fitting 😅. How much water storage do you have? ✌️
These Columbia pants are designed more for warm weather. They have UV protection and are designed to quickly dry.
I’d need to pair these pants with long underwear in cooler weather.
I only will wear cotton tshirts.
Can store about 16 gallons of water.
Oh, and as for myself: I love a good laundromat. 😊
Can you take my laundry since you’re going anyway?
@@StaticCamperVanHa. We’ll see about that, meanwhile keep scrubbing…
