totally agree with your comment from what I read and videos are watched from the past I heard the reason why they're showing on is because they were on live and they didn't want everybody knowing that he just died and they didn't think it was appropriate to let everybody know what happened at that time I agree. That it should never have went on but just to cut the show people would have wondered what happened.

+Blackhorse Scouts Out yeah they might have but at the same point from what I heard and watched from other wrestlers that were there they said they didn't know. and of course WWE is not going to cut off the pay-per-view in the middle of it so people know especially when they didn't want to tell the family right away I mean I don't know if I could really blame him for that I mean if you were in their position. Which is a very tough position would you cut it off in the middle and then have to explain to everybody what happened not even that you also have to pay all your people for not containing the show plus of hay per view plus to advertisers I mean it was hard to know what everybody was thinking at the time.

+getnotoriousXBL It was Vince who backed out of the contract he made with Bret. WCW offered Bret almost 3 million dollars to sign with them, so Vince offered him 1.5 million to stay. Bret wanted to do business, like when he passed the torch to Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 12. Then Michaels faked a leg injury to avoid putting Bret over at Wrestlemania 13. (He was seen backflipping off the top rope only a couple months later, and even Kevin Nash said Shawn's knee injury was fake.) It was Shawn Michaels who forfeited several titles without losing them to other wrestlers. So if Bret was guilty of not wanting to do business, then Michaels was guilty of it multiple times. Vince lied to Bret. The plan was for Bret to lose the title to someone the next night on Raw. It's funny how they claim Vince didn't trust Eric Bischoff and couldn't risk the WWE title being shown on WCW television. You mean like how Ric Flair wore the WCW title on WWE television back in 1992? It would have served him right. Bret Hart is a man's man. And Vince is a liar.

@@sandews8564 his will to be wealthy is so great that he will exploit and walk over anyone he has to just to make that extra dollar. Corporate overlords are not men to be revered or respected unless you’re a piece of shit that wishes you could exploit people that trust you. Yes, Vince unlike a current billionaire, did bust his ass building the WWF into the monopoly that it became. But he is no different than any other stupidly rich asshole. He will do anything and exploit whomever he has to, because money drives people like him. He systematically targeted and destroyed every single promotion until no competition stood against him, and instead of make sweeping quality of life changes to help people like Scott Hall, Piper and Jake he doubled down. These men and now women put their literal lives on the line for that pop from a crowd, and Vince can’t even give them the respect to list them as employees and give them access to healthcare. The fucking NFL, THE NFL!, has a better system for retired players than Vince has for wrestlers. Piper knew the score long before he died. Wrestlers don’t live long enough to hit that retirement, because they put it all on the line and Vince exploited their eagerness to go bigger. The piece of shit counter-sued Owen’s widow, man. I mean come on. That’s the kind of shit Bret was referring to. Vince has no moral compass.

Bret was always my favorite wrestler for a number of reasons: His technical wrestling style and his willingness to face the opposition persona made him exciting to watch in the ring--when I think about it, that persona of facing heartbreak and struggles became reality. Having met him many times, Bret proved to me that he was a warm, genuine and kind person who sincerely appreciated his fans' support. It was interestling about what he'd said about the wrestling fans being called "marks" and that the wrestlers were really the marks. I remember one time my friend and I had asked Bret, "So are you going to be at [this event] at [city and state]?" Though Bret wasn't rude at all about our asking this, he'd said, "Well, this IS the first time I'm hearing about this; it WOULD be nice if they told me about it first." Off hand, I don't remember what the event was but I've no doubt that Bret followed up on it ASAP.

From the first time I'd seen him wrestle, from watching him interact with his peers and his fans, and finally meeting him in person during the Wrestlemania X Fan Festival--and many times afterwards to this day--Bret "Hitman" Hart proved to me that not only was he a professional in the ring...to this day I believe he is a very decent human being, someone not full of himself at all. Yes, he had "the best there is, the best there was..."slogan as did other athletes--e.g. Muhammed Ali--but in my years of seeing him in the ring, meeting with him, sometimes even talking with him a bit, Bret proved to me that he was not above his fans; he proved that he loved his fans and treated them with respect. I will never forget a photo/autograph opportunity when I took a picture with him--around the '90s when I didn't have a great camera--and he'd said,"The flash didn't go off; is that alright?" and agreed to let me take another picture with the flash. What a good call on his part! I wouldn't have had a picture of us...but that's just one of the examples of his decency and how he cared for his fans. It was such a heartbreak for him to lose Owen in that accident; I'd met him too...also a nice decent person. I'd stopped watching wrestling because of that accident as well as Vince's callous attitude toward it; like "OK so we lost another circus animal; we'll just replace him." I think Vince seemed to "forget" that the wrestlers were humans instead of cash cows. About 3 years after Owen's death, I lost my sister to unnatural causes...I can venture a guess what trauma Bret and his family went through when they lost Owen. But to end on a positive note--somewhat similar to the last line in the film "The Babe"--to quote this line as best as I can to Bret: "You were the best. There was never anyone else like you."

He didn’t give his life for the industry. Vince and the WWF took a father from his kids and a husband from his wife for his bottom line. There was no rhyme or reason to make Owen enter the ring that way except trying to mimic what WCW was doing with Sting. They had him under contract, he was not even going to get an Intercontinental Title push at this point, and they put him at risk for what? A mid-card match no one would have remembered three months later if he had not plummeted to his death.

Secondly I respect Bret Hart as a wrestler and I appreciate his honesty and his abilities in the ring as a wrestler. He was the best technical wrestler of all time. And last but not least I wanna say Vince McMahon's handling of the tragedy that happened to Owen shows the kind money hungry and uncompassionate personality he really is. The wresting pay per view should've been stopped. A man who was a great wrestler just died. Bret is right. If it was Shane who died Vince Mcmahon would've canceled the rest of the show. I can understand to a point Vince had to worry about repercussions, but the show should have ended. How awful it was to Owen’s friends and the other wrestlers who had to go on after such a horrible tragedy. I mistakenly watched it on WWE Network and I could tell many wrestlers just weren’t into it and were shook up. I don’t buy the rowdy violent audience bullshit. "Owen was a really...a very careful, smart, cautious guy...." Except when he broke Steve Austin's neck in 97' due to an inverted piledriver that Stone Cold specifically told him twice that he didn't want prior to the match. He went ahead and did it anyways. One year later, Owen has a match with Dan Severn. Owen uses the same exact piledriver move, using the the same exact technique, he breaks Dan Severn's neck.

I agree with brett's self evaluation that he was the best. He was really great at the actual art if wtestling. He could make it look extremely real, yet never leave a bruise in the opponent. Many guys today and back then were sloppy and would accidentally injure their opponents by incorrectly executing a manoeuvre.

Bret is an absolute legend. He told it as it was. If it was Shane the show would not have gone on. Just read Bret’s book. It’s so so sad that he was let down by his own sisters just because they wanted their husbands jobs back.

As such a huge Owen fan, I still grieve over the entire situation that happened from the time Bret left to that dreadful night Owen died. The Harts were as good as it gets. Even beyond age 34, Owen would have gone on to become a world champion for sure, and Bret had a near perfect career aside from those garbage years in WCW. WCW had ZERO creativity and basically purchased their popularity from other wrestlers' successes prior to their time in WCW, and without those low times being lost in the Bischoff shuffle, I think Bret would have been an undisputable top 5 all-time talent. That stint in WCW may have been a necessary move for him at that time in his life, but to me, it leaves a big stain on an otherwise flawless wrestling career.

Shane Tumminello negative. His WIFE said his blood was still on the mat as they rolled Owen from the ring and were pushing other wrestlers out to wrestle as Owen’s lifeless body was rolled pass them. So who do I believe...you with no account of anything or Owen’s wife who walked the cat walk where her husband fell from and who looked and took pictures of the ring? I guess those broken boards in the ring were from times before as well.

MrBlytheville Martha wasn’t even at the event. She even says that she wasn’t in the Dark Side Of The Ring episode. She can say whatever she wants regarding the blood but all you have to do is look up Sunday Night Heat from May 23, 1999 and you will see the Broods blood bath. Additionally, you can look up the medical report for Owen and there is NO external bleeding listed. I agree with everything else you said regarding the broken boards and that they kept the show going. I’m just simply stating that was not his blood in the ring.

Heartwrenching point when brett says you never want to find out about news like that on an airplane. When he said "trust me on that" it really hit me.
Basically I dont think I can fly. I even have nightmares about flying in planes for some reason.
Basically for the exact reason mr hart said. Theres nowhere to go... nowhere to pace... nowhere to think. I dont think I can do it without bad news on the mind. But for the same reasons due to my panic attacks. I cant imagine what brett what went through.
Ever since, Brett hart has been wearing the pain of his brother and the way his own career path went with wwf etc.
The guy is as real as it comes. Im glad brett at least can bridge the gap enough and return thru the hall of fame.
I grew up during the time of the hart foundation and so many other legends. I had kinda fallen off during the time that brett was in the thickest part of his solo career but I'm so glad he got that run.
    Well deserved.

Bret Hart was always my favorite wrestler growing up. He came from a different era where respect and talent matter. Then the Attitude Era occurred while definitely entertaining, it molded a culture of degenerates that lacked respect for the "sport."

    • @rx787
      @rx787 11 лет назад +4

The fans lacked respect for the "sport." And yes it is a "sport." It isn't a true sport because it is manipulated by a script, politics and egos that circle the industry. It is like a play, theater or movie/show. Don't kid yourself thinking this is a real. It isn't. And the Attitude era developed an era of non-purists that only cared about the next shock angle to be presented by the story-writers. ECW fans only cared about the next big bump to be delivered. Attitude era featured fans in the crowd flicking off the cameras and wrestlers. The fanbase had much less disrespect for this industry. Don't kid yourself.

I feel horrible for Bret - he really had a bad go after he left WWE: the death of his brother, a divorce, his parents die, he has a stroke. You really wish it was the other way around where Vince and HHH got screwed over. I think what goes around is coming around, though. UFC is trouncing WWE, Raw ratings are the lowest they've been in years, and some wrestlers have left the WWE (CM Punk, Kurt Angle, Bill Goldberg). HHH is going to help drive WWE into the ground: numerous other wrestlers hate his guts and he's just going to drive everyone out the door.
