One neat trick you missed is that when you're in TIMER mode, you can cycle through the 5 timers by pressing START to start timing, then holding down DISP for a couple of seconds, which moves you onto the next timer in the sequence. I've set up all 5 timers with the times I use most: 1:00:00, 30:00, 10:00, 5:00, 2:00. I can basically pick the one I want using this method, which is really useful, rather than having to set up a particular time using the UP/DOWN keys, which takes way too long.
Just received mine today and this video was extremely helpful setting up the watch. You were right on, too. I have had many Casios/G-shocks and that "muscle memory" is real. I couldn't figure out why the controls didn't "work" like I was used to. Once I watched the video and played around a bit...I'm getting the hang of it after only 15 minutes. Thank you. I' ve saved this video and plan to come back to it.
This is just insane how much data such small watch can show. I'm speechless. Usually the more complicated smart watch gets it's size goes to massive but this is a little masterpiece!
sir, just got this watch and I love it.. sunrise and sunset is there... when Im on the seaside... here is a tide info... and just stupid enough of a watch to have just the basic information you need from a watch... I could even do without the reading of notifications... just "bip" would suffice so id know there is something on my phone...
Your reviews are always the best. I ordered one, solely for the easier-to-see time/date. I may occasionally check the tide before going to the beach, but I do not intend use the other complications since I always carry my much larger smartphone. When Casio make a simple watch with this display and solar charging, I'll get that next.
Thank you for the tutorial. I didn't even bother to look at this watch when it was introduced. Only after I bought 2 negative displays G Shocks ( GW9400 1BER & DW6900 BB) I realised that there should be a better negative display in the G Shock line up. By the time I look back at the GBX 100 models, they're out stock! I was fortunate to get one from a local shop and didn't think twice to get it when he said its on limited stock. Amazing display and thats all I want, the MIP display. I look at my watch and I can see the time crystal clear! and rest of the features are bonus for me.
This is the best tutorial for this watch. Yesterday I found a good deal for the GBX-100KI-1 and today I watched this video to set up the watch. I have the G-7800 and this is very similar design with the metal bezel. I like the display of this GBX-100KI-1. Your video is better than the manual. Thank you. 👍👍
I wanted to buy this watch because of how it looks. The lack of Tough Solar is by itself a big turn off for me, after watching this setting tutorial, it made me desist my desire for this watch. As a guy stated above, if Watch Geek says the watch is complicated and slow, then it is! Thank you Watch Geek, your videos are always a good reference. I have this same watch and I do (mostly) like it. This display is stellar, moon phase and tide is great (once you synch the tide to the real local value), and the papery weird band is really cool (I hope it lasts). What drives me crazy: not being able to zero the seconds manually. I put the watch in airplane mode all the time because I don't care about Bluetooth notifications, but being able to synchronize with atomic time should not require hooking up to an app! (That said, this module is pretty accurate and I don't have to synch it as often as most of my other G-Shocks....) Thanks for all the great gshock videos you've done for us. I used to think the same, but the new MIP G-Shocks with Solar still can't go forever without needing to recharge, so a battery swap every 2 years is no worse than plugging the watch into the mains every couple of weeks. In fact I'd say it's better. Multiband 6 isn't needed when you have time sync over bluetooth - again that's better because it works anywhere in the world. The reason the chronograph is only accurate to one second is the memory in pixel display. The MIP uses most power when it changes. 1/100 second changes would drain the battery.
